I mean no disrespect to anyone in the bronx, but kids were uprockin' in all the boroughs. The music was coming from all the very early discos like the Sanctuary with DJ Francis Grasso, The Turntable and many others. In Brooklyn The Orange Peel, Salsa, The Garden etc. This was the early 70's. The uprockin' scene was everywhere as well as the hustle. Again I mean no disrespect to all those that kept it going in the bronx.
I remember when I first heard this joint. It was a summer day in the seventies in S. Philly's Wilson Park Projects. I was with my friend Bobby. I don't remember who's house we were in, but I remember his brother Tee Bop passed me a fat ass spliff and put this record on. I remember that shit like yesterday. He rocked this joint, Birds of Fire by the Mahuvishnu Orchestra, some War, Mandrill, Billy Cobham, etc. We were waayyy before our time and had such good music growing up.
the bronx is the birthplace of breakdancing...its a known fact...and i was in the park with crazy and herc and everybody else...dj/mc juney june from disco fever and pepper and salt cafe 167th and jerome...;peace
@blakny845 That's right. I wish everybody at commercialized stations like NYC's Hot 97 andPower 105 would take the time to wake up and realize that shit
Thanks for posting this b-boy joint. That's why I enjoy seeing Crazy legs,Popmaster Fabel,Afrika bambaattaa,Grandmaster Caz,Jazzy Jay,red Alert,and all of them every year.
I used to hustle until dawn when this song came on! The DJ's use to run this for us! Yeah baby...oh it's the yellow sunshine. Shining on me! Oh it's the yellow sunshine now I can't see....Oh it's the yellow sunshine makes me feel free. It'll make u grooooovvvveeeee with the fellows!
@kgbronx12 If you could do the hustle to this badboy,then you are " the" badboy. It was too fast for me to hustle to;but if they slowed it down some,i would attempt it. "Love,peace,and keep doing the hustle,baby!"
This. . . .song, jam is an orginal song for break dancing. . .back in the day, DJ Kool Herc, and the Herculoids, played this, in the parks, in da Boogie Down Bronx. . .. . Groove ~!
Does anyone know the version where its just instrumental without the guy singing "oh its the yallow sunshine" ?

@anointedmove Hey , I noticed ur post
My uncle Skeets (Idrees) played the bass and my Uncle Mickey (Lester) was on Congas....so that makes us practically family :)
yurunthen 1 year ago
@yurunthen Peace, Fam. I met Skeets in LA. I also had the pleasure of meeting his father Rahsid Ali, a jazz musician. I also know Mickey.
