I am glad you posted this video. I will soon be back to riding english and starting on Apps at my first ever breed shows. I've ridden english for many years and showed at local and state levels in mixed breed classes but this is a whole new level to me and I look forward to meeting some amazing riders like this woman. I have mainly ridden barrel horses for the last few years but I still know a thing or two and I look forward to showing hunt seat horses again.
He wasnt paying attention. She just reminded him she was there. What is wrong with people? If they want a trail horse than look else where. Is he still available?
And these shows are acctully judged correctly..unlike those shows where there are mixed breeds and u have an app and u ride them like an app and a throughbred beets u when they look bad
Before u start talking crap about my trainer watch the vid again and pay more attention to what the horse looks like before she asks him to "set his head" his nose is sticking out and he isnt paying attention...she isnt jerking its called "jig sawing ur hands" and stop with the bad comments because she obviously won the class and she trained this horse and there is nothing wrong with him...and dnt talk crap about her barn and the way she trains if u dnt know her and u havnt been there!!
I'd just like to say, she isnt jerking, its calling pulling. And obviously if she won at the nationals she is a good rider. She trained this horse since he was a foal. and If you look when she is "pulling" his nose is sticking out to far. Watch the video again before you start trash talking people. Thanks
JERKJERK JERK! SNAP SNAP SNAP! yeah, sure, thats headsetting. the best in the country dont do that. go look up my trainer, Denny Emerson. hes been to the Olympics.
@endurancegirly Small world. A million years ago I rode in a clinic of Mr. Emerson's on my appaloosa. He got on him for a few minutes and was very complimentary.
I now show stock horse hunters like is shown in this video. It's a different kind of riding and training. Best to not judge something you know nothing about. This horse is being ver well-ridden for the task at hand.
poketehfreakencow, it's called how a pleasure rider rides. Short sturrips, dressage style mostly. And yes lovethatblaze is correct, the swinging is a method to get collected and keep at a nice, steady pace.
@poketehfreakencow we actually breed horses called "good minded horses" that don't throw us off and we keep enough leg and rein on our horses so that they feel comfortable and won't spook. that is why we can wear hunt caps. and our "saddle humping" is actually dressage posting technique to keep the horse collected. the "leg swinging" is also a dressage method to get collection.
@lovethatblaze Ok then but atleast put your heels down. You are not riding in dressage length stirrups and not having your heels down screws up your balance and gives you an unsafe seat. And I don't want to hear about "good minded horses" being safe enough to wear hunt caps with; any horse can spook and unseat you and with that kind of seat it ain't hard. I believe there was a spooking incident at The Quarter Horse Congress where a helmet would have been very useful.
@poketehfreakencow i kno this lady. i know this is an old comment too. u can see the "head-setting". or the jerking. its so sad. she lets u ride with no helmets at her barn. my mom is a nurse and got Courtney. yeah, her horse tripped. ug. u have no idea how hard it is to go to shows and see this. Look up Denny Emerson. he is my trainer. in his book, he even says, the showing in NJ stinks becuz no one knows to ride at the unrated shows, not that he shows at UNRATED shows. these breed shows Stink
I know and it makes them look dumb and when your post gets that "drastic" their legs start swinging and it gives them a terrible seat. If their horses decided to be bad there hunt capped heads would make friends with the ground real quick.

@poketehfreakencow I think her heals are down. Her spurs are just tilted up so it makes it look like her heals are up.
