it was written in russia at the time of the revolution when stalin was in. apparently they weren't allowed to write westernised music or else they (meaning composers) would be put in prison so he had to be very careful about what he wrote...
this is so beautiful! over the past 12 hrs have become familiar with the piece Waltz 2 - this sounds very slow, gentle, in fact very sad in comparison - but ut is so beautiful - makes me want to jump up from my chair and sign up for classical piano classes just to feel a deeper connect with the artist - not that I could ever play like this but just so I could feel a part of a legacy! - -- Are there stories behind the music - does anyone know when he produced specific pieces??

Hi,i am looking for a fugue speciallist to tell me what is that chromatic fugue:
youtube.com/watch?v=yotypIIavlQ&list=HL1326399726&feature=mh_lolz
I found it as notes and then i made it with a music notation program

@DiyaC16 I'm glad you felt a personal connection.
You can read up a little more on the compositional history easily on Wikipedia
Might I also suggest you checking out No.7. It truly is a beauty too.
