Give me a break on the racist comments. Leroy (Scarecrow) was played by Gene Anthony Ray - an amazing and very talented dancer. He is the only one of the 3 guys who could pull off the scarecrow's moves. You've been so brainwashed, you can't even enjoy a man's talent without calling it racist. How sad. It also shows that you were too young or not even born when the show was on TV. He was one of the most popular stars of the original movie and the show. So much for racism.
@kitbin I was a huge fan of the show & had the chance to meet them. Gene was a total sweet heart & the rest of the cast were awesome. So sad Gene passed away, but he will always truly be remembered in a super star way... Forever Fame..
@kitbin Exactly!! He was the most fluid. Like water! *smile* Better description would be the line from Some Like it Hot - Jack Lemmon about Marilyn Monroe, "That's jello on springs!"
No. If he was the tin man, then you say it be racist because black people don't have a heart. If he was the lion then you say it racist because black people be scared of a lot of thing. The kid who plays the scarcrow is a good dancer and not the smartest at reading.
Now I'm no homophobe, but this is incredibly gay. Especially since Dorothy's wearing overalls. I don't mean gay in a mean way, but in a happy campy sort of way.
I remember what Carlo said about this episode saying that he wished instead of doing it that the show would have produced New York real issues at the time and not doing some 'song and dance' number ! Never-the-less its good. Thanks for posting.
They did a very nice job with the original score! Cool!

he is probably scarecrow because he has slickest dance moves on the show other then Debbie Allen...not because he is stupid.

no its really not, colour has NOTHING!!!!!! to do with how a show is cast unless the show is "show boat" stop trying to be PC, it doesn't suit you

"Fame" the T.V. show was so much better than the DISMAL movie on which it was based.

That's not Dorothy, that's Doris, and she was quite straight. She was just comfier in overalls when she went for her audition.
