@Hiraghm .... Also, Clinton gained the presidency with a deficit and made successfull eforts to eliminate it, a goal he announced in his first address. He not only eliminated the deficit but was able to pass legislation such as the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 and expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit to low income workers. Anyway, I just wanted to bring to your attention the fact that progressivism is a good force that didn`t destroy America.

IF Clinton made efforts in his first term to end it, they were like Obama's; achieving the exact opposite. After the Republicans took control of the body responsible for the budget, THEY implemented the changes that brought down the deficit (on paper).

Earned income tax credit kept the poor from a burden of higher taxes they couldn`t afford, unlike the rich that are inexplicably rewarded for being rich by Republicans. It isn`t evil either. It is called being unselfish and carring about your fellow man, unlike the individualism and greed you advocate.

It's not greedy to want to control the wealth you create. Earned income tax credit is giving people other people's money, period. 40% of the population pays little or no taxes as it is. 1% pay half the taxes.

The poor are greedy and selfish? Wanting to survive isn't selfish. Not wanting to give away money that you don't need to help people who aren't as fortunate is. The poor can't afford to give like the rich, who simply don't want to. As good human beings it is our duty to help each other.

You don't have to pay a huge bill just to have a child. People had children for free for thousands of years.
