  • i saw doc and merle about 30 years ago in Porltand Oregon. Great show!

  • Doc is awesome as usual. Richard shouldn't be playing all the lead licks over Doc's verses! No sense of class! Pick your spots dude and play a fill here and there but not constant soloing over the verses. You suck!

  • that was fantastic!I love this version

  • Kill the dwarf...

  • ¡Qué maravilla!

  • Doc's not blind....he just can't see. Merle was a great loss to the guitar music world. Doc is the reason I pick the guitar.

  • I feel honored to have gotten Doc when I was younger, got to go backstage at the Tennessee theater and get his autograph. I amazes me that he can play like he does being blind.

  • Did I hear lyrics in this that Sublime used in doin' time? I think so.

  • @zatchercakes you sure did, "Sumertime and The Living is Easy...."

  • how many things a man can do in the first position of a folk guitar... and how is it magic the fact that everything he sings bocomes a country ballad... this is pure 1°class!

  • Beautiful, just beautiful:):):):) We need more doc watson's & merle travis's today. Their music is the greatest!!!!

  • yea, i doubt doc was to happy about rich noodling above the vox. he totally over exploited the solo, and kinda tried to make the song his bitch, bit him in the ass though, would have sounded much better with out that

  • where can I find the Richard's tabs please

  • Did it ever occur to you that this is the way Doc wanted it played?

  • Richard is not that talented either. Nice fellow though, but as soon as Doc passes away, that will be the last of Richard Watson on stage. I bet he can't play 5 songs today at stage level.

  • @TheMemphisSlim; Just curious how many shows do you perform each year in front of an audience? Like many, you seem to revel in criticisim. Perhaps you should remain part of the silent majority, unless of course you would like to prove to Richard and the rest of the youtube audience that your talent lies beyond the spoken word.

  • @1954tele Hey FW, why don't you stuff it? I know them both personally, anyone that knows them knows that.

  • @TheMemphisSlim ; I have no interest in creating a dialogue however if what you say is true & you know him then why would take the time to create a response on this forum to knock him? There's an old addage; "If you don't have something good to say don't say anything at all". If you didn't learn it then, you'd be well served to learn it now. This ends,.

  • @1954tele Me either. What I'm saying will pass though.. Richard is a loner, and hardly ever mingles with people. He's hard to find sometimes in fact when it's time to do a show somewhere.. I'm not meaning to criticize, it's just a statement of fact, why don't YOU spend as much time dealing with the performer, as people like, just commenting.

    Just Saying..

  • Wow! Painful...Doc should tell that n00b to STFU!

  • This sounds great, I think I know who should STFU.

  • Ricahrd is talented but why the hell is he playing over Doc while he's singing? Bad form.

  • totally agree .... just a bit overdone with lead all the way through . a bit of light and shade was needed . doc done well to sing over all that from beginning to end .

  • Why do you think you are such an expert ?

Sounds like you have a degree in STUPID !!! Or are you just a Stupid Hippie

    wannabee

  • jamminjimi wobblingbaby b quiet beautiful piece of music with richard

  • Thank you, I have to agree, I have seen Richard play probably more than anyone on youtube, and yes he's damn good, considering he's my uncle and i live right above him

  • Great comment ! These freaks that make negative comments are worthless .

  • jamminjammi8 ... show how it should be done ... if not .. keep your stupid mouth shout .

  • I'd be happy to! When and where do you want to meet?!

  • I love Doc and Merle was super as well. I've seen Doc live and he's so incredible. Saw him back in mid-70s by himself because Merle was supposedly "indisposed". Doc did things like Deep River Blues by himself and it was awesome. But the grandkid...? Doc is wonderful to help him along, but why he can't learn something other than the blues scale is a mystery to me. And that incessant doodling. Doc has such taste; it must annoy the crap out of him..? I guess blood is really thick...

  • saw Doc several times in the seventies.always awesome ..hard to find anyone as talented even blood, Doc's a legend

  • doc is an absolute joy to listen to hope to c him in concert one day

  • I saw Doc & Merle at a festival in Delaware years ago, miss those days

  • Oh man!, my scalp tingled just now.....

  • I wish I could play half as good as Doc

  • I wish I could listen half as good as Doc plays...lol

  • Doc is a genius

  • Gool must be good+cool, cause I reckon it's gool too

  • Doc is the man!

  • this song is one of many that remind me why i love my sweet suuny tennessee home

  • Very gool!! I love this style!!

  • doc is richards grandpa richards my uncle

  • lucky

  • This was probably my favorite song to hear Doc play until he played "Amazing Grace" for us at a family reunion about 3 years ago. Great times.

  • Lovely thanks. Do you by any chance have Doc Watson singing the spiritual "Stand by Me"?

  • Beatiful and thanks for sharing this one. What a talent Doc Watson is.

  • My pleasure, this is my favorite of all the songs Doc sings.
