Loosing the connection to the people around you from being silent is indeed frightening or sad.
But being silent saves us the frusteration, anger, and pain of having to stutter and not being able to get our point across, and not being understood by others.
So in a way stuttering alot and not being understood, and feeling frusterated and angered on a daily basis because of it also makes you one feel silent and cut off from the world.
Wow...okay - most of you guys have your stutters pretty much under control - except the one guy - I think it's Peter - man! You stutter is hectic! What do you do for a living? It's such a pity because you're a pretty good looking guy I reckon but when you open your mouth - hell.
Actually that's Erik since he's the one we're seeing from StutterTalk. I wouldn't feel bad for him considering he's got his stuttering under control more than you think. Just because one stutters a lot doesn't mean they aren't in control. He's cool with it and can talk as confidently as any preacher or motivational speaker which shows how in control he is.
Besides, I guess you didn't get the memo brother, aside from the hardships stutters go through, stuttering owns.

I agree that silence no matter if one stutters or not cuts a person off from the outside world. Because the world relies on speech and communication.
But when SEVERE STUTTERS like me try to talk, you just can't do it. You struggle and struggle and you just muck of your speech anyway.
Extreme stuttering and not being able to communicate effectively is the same as being cut off from the outside world by being silent.
Stutterers should only speak and not feel cut off if their case is mild.

My own pet peeve is when some people link intelligence to stuttering. Heck, in 7th grade I was reading at a post-high school level.
