BUTAH - sounds smoother, has a nice trebly transparency to it
SIGNA DRIVE - sounds gainier and slightly more trebly, as well as scooped sounding
***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***
BOTH pedals sound amazing! I like the thing GMD did with the left-hand tapping and the twisting of the Tone knob, it gives us an idea of it's tone sweep.
I find that for an overdrive that just pushes your amp over the edge when needed, the Butah works very well and it sounds great with my vintage Bassman amp. I use it before my Radial Tonebone Classic overdrive and I get all the overdriven tones I will ever need because I don't play metal and never will.
Those are the two best OD's (I'm counting the brownie as a distortion) from arguably the best pedal maker out there. They stack together really well too.
Thanks so much for demo'ing this stuff. I only have one minor request. Please lower the volume on non-demo sections (ex. Suffragette City). I had on headphones with the vid at a good volume to hear the tone of the pedals, but found myself suddenly scrambling for the mouse to turn it down as Bowie came out of nowhere blasting my eardrums to the bejeezus!
He's running a Dr. Z tube amp, one of the best, highest quality amps you can get.
Let me tell you why I think you should get the Signa Drive:
I've never heard anyone say, "This is the best (insert pedal type here) pedal out there." -except for when they are talking about the Signa Drive. Read reviews online, here what others have to say. It's gonna sound great on your SS amp, and when you get a tube amp it will knock your socks off.
The Signa Drive sounds far better with the switch up in my opinion. The switch down sounds like a tube screamer with more gain. The switch up sounds warmer, fuller, and more like tube amp overdrive.
GMD, I like the fact that you continue to improve your videos instead of doing it the same every time. Thank you for taking the time and for having pride in your work.
Butah owns the entire universe.

I've owned the Butah and it is a great pedal, just not as high gain as some, but the sound is really good
