  • Thanks, Hank.

  • read the cpmic of this amazxing

  • @hotleadPRODUCTIONS I think I will break down and read the comic. The fact it seemed to expand the Howard story put me off. I still having read my text file version of it you can get off the internet. I may do that today. I hope they've collated the comics into one big volume.

  • @plazpastic kk

  • @plazpastic you can read the story on wikipedia under the name pigeons from hell

  • @9458006 read it today when I got your comment. The Thriller episode is dead on as an adaptation.

  • The ending is good,a 100yr old woman (and hatched murderess) atempts to chop Branden's head and police shoot her in the face!

  • @glawsny the New Hellboy comic with Richard Corben art uses Pigeons From Hell for several plot points.

  • In the back corner of our ancient basement, my dad fixed up an area for my brother and I, with a carpet and the old living room TV. I watched most of "Pigeons from Hell" until I was just too scared to be down there alone, and ran up the even scarier open wooden steps to safety. "Thriller" was fantastic!

  • I saw this on TV in Atlanta when I was about 14 years old. I believe this was around 1960-61. Scared the absolute ***** out of me!

I would not watch it alone now even after all those years.

Go on line, find the story, and read it on a bright sunny afternoon. Try not to think about it as you prepare for bed. Folks, this is scary as scary can get!

  • This also 15 or so years back, was made into a graphic novel. If one really wants to experience the full measure of this story, one MUST read Howards uncensered story. It is hard edged, and they always water down Howards most true life characters.

  • you can find it as a torrent and download it

  • What can never be recreated is the era specific viewing experience. No VCRs, the typical time slot was often as late as Midnight. This came on and you were ready and willing to be creeped out. Dreading it just a bit but ready. Afraid to look down the dark hallway during the scary parts.

  • @plazpastic Yes, you are so right. I remember staying up late many times to watch scary movies, would be terrified, and do it all again.

Seeing a scary movie at 1:00am in the morning is not the same as watching it on tivo in the afternoon.

    Thanks for the post.

  • Robert E. Howard was the creator of Conan The Barbarian, Kull The Conqueror, Red Sonya and Solomon Kane among others and is one of the best short story writers in history. Both the literary short story AND graphic novel of "Pigeons From Hell" are good reads. Highly recommended for fans of this genre.

  • NOOOO!!! Show us the whole episode! I saw this when I was a little kid & it SCARED ME silly. I've been looking for this for years. Thanks for this teaser.

  • @wrght9185 The whole DVD series is available on netflix. I could cut it into 9.9 minute segments and post it (I made my own mp4 when I had the rental, evidenced by this clip) but I don't want my youtube account canceled. This clip might even be pushing it.

  • Do you know where I can buy a copy of the entire episode?

I cannot access netflix as I am in the UK- I really want to use this episode with a class I teach.

  • @wrght9185 --- I've heard it said that this was perhaps the most terrifying item ever to show up on television. Considering everything else I've seen, that would be saying a lot, and my curiosity's piqued to where I might actively seek out a DVD of this episode.

  • @Setebos According to plazpastic's comment above, Netflix has it for rent. Amazon is selling it as part of a boxed set of the entire Thriller series for over $100. Look up "Pigeons From Hell" on Wikipedia for a good description of the story. If you don't mind a spoiler, you can read the short story it was based on. At the bottom of the Wikipedia article, you'll see a link...pigeons from hell, full text. It was written by Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian.
