@AnubisThantosKK yea but what if ur STUCK in the woods hmm? and a knif eis NOT safer than an axe and NO a knife dosent perform as well as a hatched or axe when processing wood unless u want to hunt for small twigs
Thanks for this review. There isn't alot of info on the S&W fixed blade knives out there. I believe Taylor LLC imports these guys from China. The 440c steel holds up OK, the fit is good for the most part, and I like the big blade option for a very reasonable price. I own two S&W fixed blades and I'm happy with both- good cost to performance ratio.
A knife and a small ax is all you need. Most store sell them as a set. They are very compact and probably weighs no more than the big knife you plan to carry.
@yenhan705eh77 you obviously don't think tactically. the less you have on your body, the lighter you are, the better you don't tire yourself out in case you get yourself in a hairy situation. like the Swiss Army pocket knife, the Marine Corps E-tool, the bayonet/combat knife combo, pants the zip into shorts. think tactically, man! lol. Semper Fi and Semper Tactical! lol.
Yes, you're right to a certain degree. But all the stuff you've mentioned above are related to military usage. The person who posted the video is using it for wilderness survival. Using a right tool for the job is going to save you more energy and frustration in the long run. The saying, "jack of all trades, master of none" apply to tools as well.
I am wondering if this knife would be good for stuff like you were doing but a little more ruff like cutting logs for a fire... kind of like what nutnfancy does if youve seen him
@envirosponsible I have a s&w homeland sec tanto I recieved as a gift.I wont ever use it.the velcro thing is a retarded feature in my book ,its allready getting weak and I dont even use it.I love my Trailmaster and srk they do anything I want and I trust them. The recon scout is hard to find in carbon these days and I dont want to sell my house and dog to get the san mai verson but I want one .great vids!
I tested mine today, but when i was chopping branches a big chip came out of the blade. THE CHIP WAS STUCK IN A VERY THIN BRANCH (2cm or somethin) I thought: WTF
I did connect the shop where i bought it and i going to get my money back so i can pick up a new knife, don't know what knife, suggestion (same price rage approximently)
Since you're replacing it with something similar in price, you might want to see what Cold Steel has for you. The prices are good and I've been beating on mine. Chad
ur knife handeling sux i am suprised u have not choped a chunk outa your leg outher than that ur video information was correct i own thuis knife as well as the recurve version
can you please tell me some knives that have a blade smaller than 6 inches and are good choppers and also affordable (less than 70$)

Good demo! The Fiskars rocks. It's so light and and nose-heavy that it's a pleasure to work with.

choppin shit that dulls the blade fast, it would work better if u chopped it at an angle

do you find the velcro usefull? ive found that in the cold and wetter conditions it looses its ability to join together

Looks similar to cheaperthandirts "rough use" knife... might be a nice alternative to the SW (think the Rough use costs like $10 or so....)

no, man: the guard is to apply power :P (not to save your fingers)

@clustergarde It's main function is to keep you from going up on the blade and slicing half your finger clean through. But it is for both.

If you wanna chop branches, use a small ax. A knife is not a ax. Every tool has its own special purpose. Your job is to know which is which.
yenhan705eh77 2 years ago
Am I to bring a collection of tools on my hike, or can I have a big knife to do them all pretty well?

Gamovarminthunter1 2 years ago
It's only an OK knife and I don't recommend it. Just like nutn, I prefer Cold Steel. My Recon Scout is a brute, and I just got an SRK.
This is my friend's knife, and he treated very poorly by throwing it (I wouldn't throw my knives) and the handle became loose.
envirosponsible 2 years ago
But if i dont throw it and just use for chopping and making shelter do you think it would be a good cheap alternative to a fancier one?
