  • Anybody that didnt like chris rocks documentary fuc# yoooou your just fake.i would rather date a white woman or chiney than a fake black woman trying to have white/chiney/indian hair.real black traditions are bein drowned out by the media Amen.

  • he ignored the natural community, and by natural I mean women who do not perm or press their hair in an attempt to have a conquered and or assimilated appearance. Not putting in a weave does not mean ur natural. Chris rock threw black women under the bus. Show all of us equally, sistahs that know a true queen wears her own crown. Pressing/perming ur hair does not make it more 'managable'- thats what shrinks call removing disonance.

  • I was in France when i first viewed that documentary. What a shame. Especially that part where black guys said dating white women was better cause u could tear on her hair, with black women its like dont touch it it'll hurt. shame. And Im not African American.

  • This woman is ridiculous.

  • Hair? Lmao!

  • Translation: Everybody look at how I have very "good hair".

I'll just use the Chris Rock movie as an excuse to babble aimlessly about how I haven't seen it yet and tell you all what my hair dresser says.

Plus I'll through in a few stereotypes about black women (apparently looking to the side is a black lady thing as is violence when asked about their hair).

    Pointless video and phony semi-outrage.

Maybe she's seen the movie by now.

  • I'm black and like yourself I do not have a weave. My hair is long and natural. I am not obsess with spending outrageous money on the latest hairstyles. Some women in the film, Good Hair, was used as a joke - at least from the brief clips I saw on Youtube. I understood your hair stylist's reaction. Personally I wouldn't waste my time trying to debate with some posters on YT message boards. Some of them are so ignorant and hellbent on being right rather than listening and understanding your view.

  • I haven't seen the documentary at all. However, I enjoyed your commentary on the documentary, although at the time you haven't seen it yet. I do not understand why is it that certain actions SOME blacks do in our community has to be put on display for others to assumed it is an accurate representation of an entire race. Even if one seen the movie, how ignorant does another nonblack person have to be to actually believe a film like Good Hair is accurate information black hair care?

  • Your the reason why I think women shouldn't vote!

  • Yeah I think you're right Chris Rock should have never went there! As you know Chris is proven to be a guy that goes beyond the line!

    Brother T

  • @EatSmartAge,

I'm glad he went there and put all you skewed up relaxed, weaved up, self hating self loathin' niggas' on BLAST!! When I see Nia long now...SHE A SUCKA' ! All of you dumb ass bitches spendin' $2,000 bucks on INDIAN FUCKIN' HAIR, where that money could be used to help buy a house or something! To hell with ya'll and that WHITE hair mess. AND ON TOP OF IT, "THEY MAKIN' MORE LOOT' than we are on our own Black asses? YOU a West Indian self hater, with your relaxed head poppin' YANG!!

  • @nagone11

That's INDIAN hair mess, bitch. Get it right.

  • @brama1969 BITCH I DID GET IT RIGHT, I hope you ain't one of them relaxed head shit heads poppin' yang too nigga' !! Now git down suck'a!!

  • @nagone11

No cunt, you got it wrong. You said white hair which was wrong... I corrected you by telling you that it's Indian.

And nobody gives a fuck about what you do or don't hope for.

Now go learn some fuckin English, you slang speakin fool. Sound like a damn uneducated retard.

  • @brama1969 Once again asshole you are wrong!! I said white hair because black folks are buying to look more whait than anything else?? Did you see what i said about black folk buying 'Indian Hair" for ridiculous money?? Stupid assed mofo. STFU and get off the box you ignorant stupid assed nigga', i despise fools like you!! Un-edicated, you wish you had the education that i have gotten asswipe. Now like i said....git down' suck'a!!!

  • @nagone11

Pretty sad that such an educated woman, such as yourself, talks like/uses language like she's straight out of the projects. Nothin wrong with that though... just sayin.

  • I really dislike this movie. Too one sided and unbalanced. Why didn't he talk to people without weaves? The problem with this movie is it plumped up the myths instead of trying to prove them wrong. This is a mockumentary and offers no insight or any moments of uplifting. I'm Canadian as well and I know that we don't have many of these same issues and I hate that non-blacks who have watched this movie now believe that this is how I live my life. White people wear weaves too.

  • I AM NOT MY HAIR!!LOL!!

  • Relaxed hair is ur hair but it is NOT natural. I bet ur hairdresser has a larger percentage of relaxed & straightened clients wearing their hair to mimic another race. Curly coils and textured hair is the norm for black woman unless they chemically alter or heat straighten their God given tresses. COME ON Rock the hair U were born with!!! After knowing all the dangers y would u sit & have a toxic and caustic cream put on ur scalp to achieve a look. EatSmartAgeSmart but

    toxic exposure???

  • thank for this cause i didnt like the movie theres no balance at all he made use look like we all where weaves he didnt cover natural hair at all

  • You're quite spirited for someone who hasn't even seen the movie. Lol

  • @kahotstuff01 what are you talking about. a lot of black women don't relax or hot comb their hair

  • hmm... maybe its not u with a weave or whatever... but seriously chris rocks documentary is so TRUE !! not for all black women, but for most of them !

  • i think it was very important for everyone to see the movie. behind Chris Rock 100%

  • I am a retired cosmetologist. Here is an FYI Reminder for everyone. Since Ancient times, Anglo-Saxons, Africans, Asians, Greeks, etc... have worn hair pieces because of fashionable times, or religious rites, etc... It appears that American society have endorsed the degradation of other people's heritage since.

  • HA TRUE FACT exactly what chris rock is saying i love him and that movie i am white so my hair is naturally staright haha jealous i bet!! but ok almost every single african american woman has have there hair relaxed am i right or am i right!!!! BUT GOOD HAIR GREAT MOIVE BY THE WAY!!!

  • THE POINT of a documentary is to expose things we dont know. So we all needed to know that SOME black women and even white women get weaves. There are a LOT of black women who do go to excessive lengths to look good, anyone with commonsense should KNOW that CR wasnt trying to make black women bad, he just wanted to educate whites and blacks on how the hair community works.

  • If you watch the documentary,Chris does spent a fair bit of time explaining the use of relaxers and females chemically straightening their hair on top of the weaves.I dont think he was intentionally dishing the dirty secrets of black hair. Its 2010 and women these days are more open about their hair than 20, 30 or 40 years ago.A perfect example is tyra banks. Its also provides an interesting insight of black hair to non blacks in particular men. I found it an interesting movie overall.

  • you people are over dramatizing the whole thing, its a freakin documentary, if this is offending you and anybody else then obviously you and those people aren't very confident, so suck it up and move on with your life, stop caring what everyone thinks about whether ur hair is real or not. mine is real long and all mine and i could care less what people think..and other people should to.

  • @sgmgurl can I give your five thumbs up. OH LORD. it is hair. hahaahah

  • SERIOUSLY, I whole lot of people are getting sick of black women. REAL TALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah but they got the phattest butts on the planet so who cares.

  • Why y'all tripping and acting like no one knew you use wigs. shoot, it's aight, stop overreacting.

  • Self-Denial is a serious state of mental slavery!

  • Yes, it is really ignorant when people can't acknowledge that someone may have a different accent.

  • Unfortunately, that's the way it is; some people do focus on stereotypes. When my hair was relaxed ( I went natural in 2004), and at the middle of my back, I would get snide remarks, and the "is all that your hair?" question; so yeah, many women are ignorant when it comes to our hair (not all). And as far as him airing our dirty laundry; not true at all. It's no secret that women of color (and men too) will budget to get their hair "did". I just wish more of us owned these businesses.

  • Lmao at 2:11 she says chris brown instead of chris rock

  • I think that the movie showed who really has "good" hair and that would be the Indian people. I found out that they use a lot of coconut oil for their hair as a conditioner and then wash it out. Indians have beautiful hair. I have seen white people with nappy hair and their hair is very damaged from coloring and chemicals.

  • I have not seen Chris Rock's movie; only him talking about it on talk shows. I am glad that he came out with the movie because I did not now that black women's hair was that serious. When I started working after high school, women use to ask me all of the time did I have a weave. I didn't get a relaxer until I was about 23 years old. The only comment that made me mad about my hair from another sista was, " I know that is not your hair black as you is." She better be glad that we were at work.

  • How can your hairdresser get pissed off about a movie she hasn't seen?

  • The biggest problem is that women don t want to self analyze.....stop denying your natural state......

    Stop playing adult barbie doll......

Stop bankrupting our community with $1000 hair weaves.....

  • your hair is a billion dollar industry, its not a secret sis and damn sure not airing dirty laundry. keep it clean. i noticed that you never called him a liar. the only good hair is natural hair sis, no relaxers or any of that foolishness that straightens your hair. the only things in nature that are strait like that, hair-wise is fur.

  • Thank you for posting this, it's been on my mind as well.

  • The movie not only touched bases with the fact that blk women put weaves in their hair, but that they chemically relax it which obviously isn't healthy because it can cause cancer and it can damage your hair follicals. Even if a blk woman presses it n uses no chemicals it still shows how black women aren't comfortable in the own God Given hair and it is ashame. Don't get me wrong(there's nothing wrong w/ strait hair) but if we can't appreciate our own hair first what does that say about us. YBF):

  • I say "us" because we are black women BUT there are differences within our group.

My hubby definitely don't represent all black men BUT he does represent some. This is the reason why I refuse to be bitter towards black men even though SOME of them have videos painting black women in an unfavorable light. I know from experience that black men are all different and I judge them individually, I just black women can get the same consideration.

  • You can also type in Black Woman's hair and you will see many black women whom wear their natural like myself, real hair with a relaxer, braids, weaves, wigs. Which should tell you that black women wear our hair in may different ways. Trust me I am NOT in denial I know for a fact that black PEOPLE are in trouble, but hair is NOT one of our major issues. AIDS, children out of wedlock, poverty, high abortions rates, imprisonment. and the list goes on... hair should be the least of our concerns.

  • Thecre8tive1 - thanks for helping here because I was feeling a bit alone here.

TechKnowStudio - I really don't think that my behaviours as a black woman has anything questionable. Again, you sound like the women you've dated have not been the right ones. I know many black women who are quite well adjusted ... I can assure you. This debate has gone from black women's hair to their personality. If that's the case then you cannot put all black women in the same boat!

  • Hey I'm also from Canada. Your skin is so bright and youthful

  • I have seen this film, He did make fun of Black women as a whole because of the actions of a few extreme and desperate black women. He used broad strokes to paint this picture and black women should be offended especially those of use who have to deal with the aftermath and we don't even fall into this category. Ive been natural for 5 years and my hair is long, I am CONSTANTLY being asked if my hair is real by blacks and whites. I'm just so tired of living under a microscope and being analyzed.

  • "because of the actions of a few extreme and desperate black women". I think you'll find that these are the actions of MOST black women of today. Let's put it this way, if only a FEW women were wearing weaves Chris wouldn't have enough material to make a movie on this subject matter - end of story. Stop being in denial and START looking at things realistically.

  • Have you seen the movie? it doesn't look like you have. Their were black women in this movie doing desperate things like not paying their rent or paying their bills because they needed to get their weaves done. This is the extreme and desperate behavior I was addressing. Most black women even the ones that are addicted to weaves don't do this. Realistically black men and women BOTH need to get it together and hair should not be on the priority list when it comes to black people.

  • When did you hear me say that I saw the movie. Learn to pay attention *shakes head*. If BW weren't putting garbage in and on top of their hair, Chris wouldn't have made a documentary. Hopefully this documentary will go some way to enable BW to stop this stupidity with weaves/wigs and start wearing their hair natural.Fake hair is a reminder that BW are subconsciously hate themselves and do NOT feel comfortable in their own skin. STOP deflecting blame, BW are deplorable .

  • Its funny cause I am married 2 a BLACK MAN and he does not sit around all day discussing black women and self hate or what we do 2 our hair. I am a natural haired black woman Been with the same man since I was 15 and he was 16, I'd love for you to expose any type of dirty laundry that my husband don't know about. You sound as if you have issues with some black woman but use generalizations about all of us. Why expose? if you don't like us, leave us alone. All black men don't feel this way

  • TechKnowStudio - I don't know which women you've been hanging out with, but I'm sorry to read your comment. Listen, I don't think black women hate themselves. They are looking for an easier way to manage their hair. Black women had had the choice to go natural, permed or weaved for decades. I think the idea is that turning it into a joke is what is getting so many women upset. I will surely post another video after this opens in Canada. Man, this is just a complicated topic.

  • ezekielthemack - As I've said this is a PRE-movie comment and I will post another after I see it. I cannot agree with you because there are loads of black women wearing their own hair. And even if that was the case, I doubt that they want all their business hanging out for judgment my friend. I don't agree, with your comment. I posted this video as a reaction to what I've seen on the telly and in response to the reaction a salon full of black women had in regards to this documentary.

  • You're missing the point. The MAJORITY of black women in America are wearing weaves - FACT!. You., Michele Obama and Oprah are the exception to the rule. I don't know why your hairdresser got upset either, because you know full well that the majority of black women of today are NOT wearing their own hair on their heads for the most part. In closing, please judge a movie AFTER you have seen it and not before as it only serves to weaken your argument.

  • I am not sure about this "Majority" thing. I believe that its geographical. I live in Berkeley California and most of the black women here are natural. I myself have natural waist length hair (Just view my channel) I've been to New York and have seen tons of naturals there.. I might add that I HAVE seen this film with my husband and I can say that its a "Mockumentary"... period.

  • Comment removed

  • The reason you're not sure about the majority thing is that you're in denial of the truth. MOST black women of today are wearing fake hair on their head and I'm not being facetious I'm being factual. What they need to ask themselves is why they hate themselves subconsciously and why don't feel comfortable in their own skin.

  • @ezekielthemack dude also cause its very hard to take care of natural hair everyday.
