The problem with american cars is that the concept model like this aveo looks great!..but when the actual production car comes around, it looks WAY different from the concept, and looks like an ordinary, bland looking car, while honda and toyota make a better looking car, and in turn have more sales, and GM goes bankrupt! lol

the conept RS would be in competition with the ever so popular Fit and Xa/Xb. It was never the intention for the RS to be a powerhouse, but to offer the young adult (24-34 age range) a different concept to the Fit. The RS will offer more options and curves than the competitors, while still maintaning a high fuel effeciency (35mpg+)

Lol, your a fucking knob. The Base Cobalt outrun just about everything in it's class 0-60. Since the RS will have similiar HP numbers and much less weight i'm sure it will be better than or comparable to any of it's competitors. Get a clue fanboy.

I'll grant you the base Cobalt is dull and a bit uncomfortable stock. It also costs about $4,600 less. However, it IS faster than the Mazda 3, the Civic and the Corolla so get your facts straight on that. The Civic DX interior isn't much nicer, nor is the Corollas. Frankly, I love Mazda. Akways have. However, I like cars for speed and performance numbers and since the SS Turbo is faster and handles better to me its better than the MS3

Not to mention for an extra $2800 you can have an interior as nice as the Mazda 3 and dump some mods into it and you have a car that's nicer and faster. For me, that's what i'd wan't. I wouldn't touch a Mazda interior because it looks good already. I'd rather pay less and use the rest to put my own spin on it.

Believe it or not I was set on an MS3 as well. I got my SS Turbo for 17,998 as opposed to 28,988 (Canadian) as it was paint damaged and re-painted at the factory. Otherwise I would have bought an MS3. Having driven the SS for awhile i'm glad I did. It's an acquired taste but the lack of tire and wind noise, coupled with the comfortable ride, good steering feel and fantatastic responsiveness make it a better car than non-owners realize.

The 1.4L Turbo motor will only be in the Aveo RS and the Cruze with the SS package.

The 1.4 turbo WILL NOT be badged as an SS in the Cruze. It is intended to be an extremely fuel efficient engine, not a hot performer. It will be reasonably peppy in the Aveo due to the lightweight of the car. The Aveo RS with a custom tune should be a pretty nice sleeper. Hitting 200hp shouldn't be an unrealistic goal.

We'll just have to wait and see. The new Aveo RS is larger than the current and from what I've read: The cobalt is to be phased out and replaced with the Cruze, which is basically the new Aveo Sedan and the Aveo RS will take the place of the Vibe GT, and the Spark will take the Aveo's place. All speculation at this point, but I just saw the new Cruze and Aveo RS up here in Alaska for cold-weather testing. Pretty cool...

There's a lot of other cool little features that come with this car like a factory integrated boost gauge stock, 19" wheels from the factory, color-matched brake calipers...The list goes on. I think they might even come with HIDs. The mix of digital MPH and analog RPM in the cluster is cool. That's all the info I have right now, but I'll post back as I learn more. I'm an Admin. for an Aveo enthusiasts forum, so I tend to find these things out pretty quickly.

The Chevy Aveo is actually a Daewoo Kalos. Has been ever since 2004 when the Aveo was released. However, this new RS is all it's own. It uses a 1.4L Turbo i4 engine w/ a 6-speed manual transmission. I own a 2009 "Face-Lifted" Aveo5. It is an awesome car, but this new RS will be the hottest hatch on the road. From what I've read the new Aveo RS will take the Cobalts place in Chevy's line-up for around 16-18k loaded and the Cruze will take the Aveo sedan's place w/ an available SS option 1.4

I test drove an Aveo several times before settling on a different Chevy model. My main thing against it is not the engine. It's the overall experience with the interior and handling of the vehicle, at least i feel personally does not stack up to the other competitors in this segment.

Yes, curent Aveos have Opel engines (I think they're the last GM cars to use them), but the engine found in this new Aveo will be from Lotus.

They've been given a giant budget by GM to create the Ecotec engines (GM knows how to make 6 and 8 bangers, but not 4 cylinders). If I recall correctly I read somewhere Opel made the First Ecotec, and the Ecotec II was redesigned with help from GM NA and Opel, with Lotus doing some work on the heads and that being it.

Lotus still carried most of the work. So Lotus designed, developed and also tested the modern Ecotec engine.

It uses the same 1.4 turbo set up as the Chevy Cruze which means about 138 hp/148 lb-ft tq. Not really going to make it "fast", but a much improved version of the Aveo. That is, if GM is smart enough to actually produce it.
