A lot of people are saying that Jack cannot die since he is immortal. We don't know for a fact that what Rose did made Jack truly immortal. For all we know, it probably just made it ridiculously hard for him to die. But this is 5 billion years. I am not surprised if he shows mortality after all that time. Besides, to us humans, 5 billion years kinda feels like forever (hence the "live forever" part). Even to the doctor (1000 years) and rory (2000 years), it feels like forever.
