The Englisg used to hand them out to officers, colonels and the like, who ordered others into battle from behind the lines. One English man got a VC for moving some ammuniton around, under no threat from the enemy.

@christian199212 They all operate together. NZ SAS Operators can walk straight into the British SAS and Brit SAS can walk straight into the NZSAS. There was even a Kiwi on the Bravo Two Zero mission. They all operate and train together alongside the US DEVGRU and CAG (DeltaForce) and CIA SOG, the NZSAS are TIER ONE Operators. That means they are skilled above SEAL's, US Army SF and most other SF units in the world which are considered Tier Two

Lol i was actually looking for the news back home when i stumbled on this. I read a few books/seen some doco's here and there but Andy McNabb and watching potential recruits run up and down the Breacon Beacons is as far as ive gone.
Seems i stirred a hornets nest with my comment. i saw this and a few of the other trailers and i gotta say it really looked like The Contender or something. i'll watch the doco if i can find it and post an informed comment next time.

Actually there are a whole bunch of non-US units with Presidential Unit Citations (for example the Aust. SAS, the 6th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and a whole lot more). But you're right, jd5500 is a prick. NZSAS are far better than any US Special Forces unit. Brit, Aussie and NZ SAS poo all over yanks

Slick video and good production values but i dont really know if making a hollywood "survivor" style video is really what these boys are about, not to mention the security that is being compromised by showing their faces/training techniques and equipment. I've been in the British forces a few years now and i dont know anything about their SBS/SAS except the SAS are based in Hereford.

They blank out the faces of the people that eventually get chosen. Its quite interesting to see what they have to go through.
The main reason why they did this, was to show the public of New Zealand what they are all about.
Also, possibly to get more people to join the NZ Defence Force :)
