  • I love my neighbours

  • wish uli never left the band

i mean i love spacebox and those unearthed solo tracks but uli/man/ax guru was where it was at. you follow what i'm saying

  • That drum groove is awesome.

  • Love it till death

  • There's no more of this on the mainstream today. But I'm 17 and restless and I can guarantee you that, like Mr. Klaus said, the best is yet to come!

If you're 17 and tired, leave nostalgia back and come with me. Do it yourself! Carpe your fucking Diem!

  • so good! check that crazy vocal action! Now that's inventive!

  • just timeless!!!!

  • Those were the days.... (sigh)

    We had MUSIC back then!

  • A band so far out they had to name it twice.

  • I'm thinking - An instrumental version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Frank Zappa...

  • @raygoshay1400 yyyy WHAT?!

  • @zolwikPawel My PC has been down for a month, so I'm just getting back to you now... This is an interesting number. I think it sounds like early Zappa AND some of the psychedelic stuff Iron Butterfly featured in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" - especially the vocal effect segment. That part sounds a lot like the "elephant" calls in "Gadda".

  • a fine dub-bassline

  • what`s all that gross shit on there heads?

  • @CultureCunt It is called "hair"

    Jealous? :)

  • We saw GG live in Bremen in 1972 or so when we were still schooldkids. It was a free concert and drummer Mani Neumeier came out on the street after the gig and entertained us with some ad-lib performance. Quite an experience!!!!!

  • I SEE THIS VID EVERY FUCKIN DAY

  • Great video!

  • Fat fucking Strat, jesus fucking christ almighty....

  • Wow, love the vocal treatment, whigged out guitar solo and effects, manic drumming.. and abrupt ending. Thanks orangefunk for posting this.

  • I like this stuff. Jimi would've been proud.

  • Long Live Krautrock !

    @Instabil80:

No, it's Uli Trepte on Bass guitar, unfortunately passed away in the meantime :o((.

  • me and my family have been their next neighbors in the mid 70ies and allways enjoyed it, okay in the Odenwald you have quite some 500mrs space between each Chalet, whre they played in the forest, and once a year perfpormed at their own Festival 10.000 people coming together in the muddy valey of Finkenbach, listening to all the other "Krautrock" bands the festival area was sponsored by local farmer another neighbor!

  • All bands should have a great song.

  • Die volle Dröhnung

  • amazing drummer

  • buen viaje LCD...

  • Lobão começou tocando baixo no Guru Guru! \o/

  • The days when rock music was literaly high and doing coccaine. They should call all the drugs fuel of real rock music. But at what price.

  • Do you think these guy's might have used drugs?

  • At the bass Can member Irmin Schmidt ???

  • It is all there: rock, blues, psych, electric, funk, crazy, damned, hendrix, vanguard, retroguard...

  • unique for its time ... and voice modulation modest rehearsal

  • I slept through 1968.

  • 3:15 hairy hands

  • Hello, thank you for your answer! No,I'm not a musicien, and It's too late now (60 years old!)I'm just a fan of the old german band"Krautrock",mostly Amon Duul 2.RIP Uli Trepte!!Here we have no information..And Amon Duul,my favorite, they play too, with who?I was too a fan of a old hard german band,JANE.But,since the death of Peter Panka!!!And Klauss Hess??

  • @thefrisquette It's NEVER too late my friend! Do it for yourself if that's what you want!

    :o)

  • @BigWinnione

Jaja, die waren bestimmt nur bekifft. ;)

  • What fuck??Excuse my poor english language...I'm a Belgian-francophone!I don't understand..the subtilities!I just say that I like Guru Guru(Der Electroluch is wonderfull),and some of the old Krautrock bands,specially Amon Duul 2.But now,where they are?No news???

  • @thefrisquette Sadly, Uli Trepte passed away last year. A few members of Amon Düül and Amon Düül II still play sporadically. Are you into any of the French cosmic/kraut-style groups like Besombes-Rizet and Lard Free? That's some really good stuff right there!

  • Terrible.

  • Great band !!!! very junky... :-)

  • We will miss Uli Trepte.

  • Klasse!

  • Thank you for the video .I have lodst all my Guru Guru, except,"der elektrolush" album,Except,Many Neumeier,I t'was a very very good and rapid guitarist(Houshang newadepour!!!?)...in the band ?But,perhaps,I'm foolish.....Rapid more Alvin Lee!!!!

  • @thefrisquette what the fuck did you just say?

  • And now, where are bands like Amon Duul 2,Guru Guru.I was a fan...

  • haha this guys were my neighbours in the 70's, used to go to them drop some acid and listening to them :D

  • Back when Q pound r was a big Q pound, oh i miss those days

  • @ 3:01 these guys blew my f*cking mind!!!! GODLY!!!!

  • Q LOQUERA!!!

  • Genius

  • He knows

  • love to have been old enough to hear this stuff then..too cool!

  • like hendrix and blue cheer jamming at same time

  • why the fuck no one plays the drums this way anymore!

old days psych days good days

  • @Iezeakill - i play drums this way and cant find bands now who want this kind of drumming - they say its too distracting, too many fills, too hard to follow, too jazzy, etc but i dont care. i destroyed many a jam session! the audience just sits there and thinks what the hell is this guy doing playing all crazy...they dont know the60s/'70s style, cant appreciate it. It's like mitch mitchell hendrixs drummer, mixed with bluecheer drumming, some keith moon + ginger baker in there too. love it!

  • @progjazzfusion call me 2 jam!!

  • @progjazzfusion Oh, how I wish you were my drummer!!!

  • @fuzzballzz36 - seriously, if you need drum tracks in this style, I can provide tracks by email played along to your wav or mp3. I have a pro miked kit in a studio and do this kind of thing regularly.

  • @progjazzfusion I appreciate the offer! I might do that some time. What I meant was I wish you were in my band doing improv with us.

  • @fuzzballzz36 - yeah that's cool. For fun send me a track some time if you want, and I'll jam out on it.

  • @progjazzfusion I'll do that! You want something with a click track or do you want just complete freeform guitars?

  • @fuzzballzz36 - no click please, just do like 4 or 8 muted pick click strums to start off a groove like this, then play in constant time so i can follow. maybe play to a click yourself in headphones but dont record that to my copy. a simple bass riff backing would be nice too if you have time, similar to this song. just go for it and lets see what happens! if it turns out cool we could post it here. when you're ready, first send me a personal message thru my youtube homepage +ill give my email

  • is that John Lennon on bass?! WTF MATE!?!!

  • stone cold crazy.

  • great! I invite to listen experimental music in my profile

  • ME... WANTS... DRUMMER'S... JACKET!

  • The shit ends up being so out of tune..So perfect!

  • dont know what to say except today i am proud to be german!

  • the old ones are deaf of the war,and the young ones apreciate it!would be my suggestion ! )

  • Awesome! Thanks!

  • it's shite raaaaaaawk

  • The bass player cracks me up.

  • This jam session sure brings back memories. Got acid? : D

  • Guru Guru kicks complete ass. My buddy Joe Carducci from newvulgate turned me onto these dude. Raaaaawk!

  • Fookin great stuff. Its like coming home from work eating fish and getting wet.

  • For anyone that doesn'y know, this track is from their second album, 'Hinten'...

I have their first four albums on CD, and they where THE surreal heavy jazz/prog to com out of Germany in the early '70's...

    Bloody superb!!! : )

  • san franciso's shiver is an awesome acid jam band..i like them better then these cats.

  • The bees knees. Way ahead!

  • This is really AWESOME! Love it!!

  • great but imagine their neighbors!!!! :-D

  • @petrezky that would be only possible in the "odenwald"-region of germany :-D

  • @petrezky

    Their neighbors were prolly CAN

  • @petrezky I just wish I was one of their neighbors...... ;-)

  • Incredible!! It seems a fake 70' home video but it's true.

  • check out an old 60s psych band called "san franciso's shiver" if you like this. similar power trio dynamics, same spacy simplistic feel

  • nice one, i stumbled across shiver about a year a go, think theres a swizz band with the same name, its great stuff

  • ★★★★★

  • whats the thing the bassist has in his mouth?

  • i guess a contact mic or somethin like that dani

  • @DaNii93ch believe its called a talkbox

  • fuckin groovy

  • All bands should have a gong!

  • and more cowbell! :D

  • @Caligula138 and bong!!

  • unbelievable

  • i used to go to their concerts, when i lived in germany in the sixties/ seventies, which were usually held in vacant buildings (hammerschlag, manufactur in backnang) or sometimes at the stuttgart uni, definetely wild parties. indoor rock concerts. much much smaller than woodstock but no less aktive. i definately had a good time. if anyone wants to know what happened to this contemporary, you welcome to click on my page.

    volker1954

  • Mani broke this cool style. He wanted to change this band for comical like Monti Python.

  • Fucking rules!

  • Kult. Hingehen solange Sie noch spielen!!

  • CHRIST...

  • This fucking rules. They were years ahead of their time.

  • Hello, I saw Guru Guru in the " Spirit of 66" Vervier in belgum

    bye bye

  • I am very sad to hear about Trepte's death. I was listening to "Spacebox" recently - now, that's music with personality. RIP.

  • I have " Guru Guru And Uli Trepte"(including his 74's solo), "Bitkicks"(75), "Kick Up"(83), "Real Time Music"(96), "Rollomat" (04), but probably "Spacebox " is his best .

  • man, this is good to hear after so many years! but very sorry to hear about his death. they never made it into the very big league but they were part of many small rock concerts in germany. i wished i could attend one again.

  • i used to watch guru guru in the " manufactur/

hammerschlag" in backnang/ germany. and other venues around the stuttgart area. that was in the 60s and early 70's. now an other one of my generation is buried. hhmmm..very sad. at that time there were little woodsocks in every park. why did it dye or where did it go, i don't know. i have gone old but i never let go of the early hippie ideals. i am not a musician but i thing my history shows in the short films i make. at least so i hope.

  • awesome theme!!

  • I could imagine that these guys either got along very well with Hendrix, or they were at war, but nothing in between...

  • Damn just found out Uli Trepte passed away in May... The first 3 Guru Guru albums are inimitable. I had been listening to Spacebox a lot lately too. Uncompromising to the bitter end. R.I.P.

  • "UFO" and "HINTEN" are their two greatest masterpieces."ESSEN 1970" is also nice, but guitar sound is too far.

The best!!...i have all records of Guru Guru

  • porcoddiioooooo, da pàura

  • home is where the drums set is

  • este cuate yo lo conocia!

  • what's the bassist doing with that wire in his mouth???

  • i bet it's a talkbox, isnt it?

  • You're absolutely correct.

  • Wahnsinn, sie haben alles rausgeholt, was ging. BRAVO!!!

  • If you like this music, also try listening to Can, Popol Vuh, Faust, German Oak, Gong, Cosmik Jokers, Magma

  • i love how the guitar guy is so careful about controlling the feedback.. awesome

  • thesedays my age guys don't listen this kind music... i'm 16 i want make friend who like psychedelic music or experimental music

  • I do... keep up man

  • @letpunk Keep on going, listen to what you like, be yourself! And good for you for doing so! I can tell you a lot of good bands and musicians: Amon Duul I and II, H. P. Lovecraft, Henry Cow, Ash Ra Tempel, Frank Zappa, etc. And check out my band's videos if you like weirdness. :-)

  • that tone sonds like ironfly

  • this is sick, but im sure we can still all agree CAN is a force to be rockoned with, and they are still #1 (and by CAN i mean CAN with damo)

  • tremendous energy

  • The lp version is very different, i prefer this one, totally imrovised.

    Excellent work!

  • How am I going to make love on this?

  • yeah i build a time machine and go back to the 70s

  • i can tell whether or not i like this

  • These guys and The Can ran in the same circle?

  • No. And it's "Can"..

  • I am happy that I was the kid in 1971.

  • juelacienmilparesdelagranputa..esto si que es rico mano!!

  • ..they're are great!

one of these guys in you familiy..wow!..say hello!

  • TUNE!

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!!!

  • uli trepte, the man on the bass was using an ear knob as a microphone - he used this some years later on his solo lp Uli Trepte the title is called "ear mike song", recorded 1974.

Electric Junk was released on the Guru Guru lp "Hinten"

  • yes!!!

was that a microphone in the bass players mouth?

  • This is almost too awesome for words!
