American animation? You`ve got the good ol` Lion King and rest of the classic Disney marvels, and the Pixar films are all phenomenal (except for Cars). But then Scooby-Doo and Animaniacs are just downright annoying. They`re inferior to both the Disney/Pixars and Japanese animes.
So ... both genres have goods and bads. Can`t just label an entire group of animation as `SUCKS`. So let`s TRY to stop the bashings. And MagusX1, congratulations on delivering your point of view clearly and rationally.
Quality of Japanese animation depends. On one hand you`ve got One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, etc. that have cliche-ridden dialogue and dragging fight scenes. But then you got good stuff like Fullmetal Alchemist and Blue Exorcist that pays more attention to smooth action and background details - not to mention a fresh, original storyline. Oh yeah, can`t forget the Studio Ghibli works. Isn`t Spirited Away the only animated film to win an Academy Award thus far?
A thing I diskike about anime is the fight scences it's standing their talking while a few attackes are thrown as opposed to let's say young justice or the spectacular spiderman where the fighting is vivid,fluid and well animated

We don't have to choose. There is room for both. We have the freedom to watch both American and Japanese animations. The anime haters and the anime fan worshippers are idiots. The anime haters want to make it so that you can't watch anime. The anime fan worshippers will just harass people for not liking what they like. What we as viewers want is good quality stories and animation to go with it. We don't want crap forced upon us by companies, anime haters, or anime fan worshippers.
why is American animation superior? because they generally put more time and effort into their cartooning and don't make human characters that have weird looking bodies (unless that was the whole point of the show) small noses or slow moving mouths that are out of sync with speech ect I could go on and on.
LOL even south park characters look more realistic than some of the garbage they put out. and American cartoon superheroes don't always take 3 to 10+ episodes just to get somewhere. XD
American animation is well done, but I do have a certain gripe about the content, I mean mostly animation from America is geared towards children (which I don't mind and do enjoy) but we are seriously lacking when it comes to gritty, dark, philosophical cartoons like Ghost In The Shell or something to that affect, and the few that we do are about superheros (which is just not my cup of tea) And because of this I don't think American animation is take as seriously as Anime.

The only American Cartoons I really enjoy nowadays are classic Looney Tunes. While I used to like Disney and Pixar as a kid, they do not suit my current tastes and haven't for years now. Also, Pixar is overrated IMHO and Disney (as a company, not an animation producer/distributor) I highly dislike.
Also, I agree about CGI animated films; they generally lack heart and have stale, cheap ideas behind them.
I enjoy most american animation, A lot of older cartoon network cartoons, pixar has always been good, dreamworks, ahh okay, like some of disney, but not nearly as much as anime, while a lot of anime cut corners, a lot don't, and when they do cut corners I usually don't notice because they will just be talking or something, so it really doesn't matter to me if a ton of movement isn't always going on because im focusing on what their saying, plus eva was awesome because of the realistic pauses

I like anime but I deeply respect your opinion and his. I am a fan of both American cartoons and anime. And I am embarrassed that rabid anime fans like that exist, because there is no need to fight over which one's better. Both are equally good but American cartoons have better animation for sure. I really don't care if a cartoon is anime, or American. I personally like both. I mean there are some American cartoons I love, like Samurai Jack, and The '03 TMNT, and some I can't stand like The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and Fanboy, and Chum Chum. Same goes for anime. I love Outlaw Star, but at the same time I can't stand Lucky Star. So yeah It's really not the animation or where it comes from for me, as much as it's the writing or story. ^_^
I think that anyone who like retardoons over anime doesn't watch good anime. I don't understand how garbage like spongbob, simpsons, and tmnt is better than DBZ, FMA, or most other anime. Now I wouldn't go that far about Shrek. The pop culturaly referenace make it more grown up and appealing. Frankly I don't have any issues with TheJosephShow at all and as a guy who grew up watching both anime and Disney movies, I got the best of both worlds and can see where he has a point.
What I can't stand are the idiotic anti-anime bullies who are now flocking to that guy and overemphasizing the mistakes in anime when they don't seem to bother addressing the flaws in western animation (particularly in terms of storyline, character designs, character development... *sighs*)
This topic has been on my mind for a while and the reason that both mediums are starting to suck is a lack of inspiration. I can only name a few new anime series that don't feel like cheesy fanservice anime or shows filled to the brim with useless moe characters. Likewise, I've yet to find a good western cartoon in a while, although 9 looks awesome. I'm skeptical of Pixar due to them pandering to kids, but maybe watching Wall-E on Starz will change that. Both mediums need new ideas badly.

The classic 80s and early 90s anime were the best animated. The Fist of the North Star movie was insane as far as gory deaths are. Akira on the other hand was the most flawlessly animated anime film I've seen so far. A lot of OVAs from the 90s such as Catgirl Nuku Nuku and Tenchi Muyo were very well animated. The newer stuff such as Naruto and Bleach has nice artwork but bad animation.
There is lots of anime I hate as well even though I prefer anime. (Crayon Shin-chan and Naruto are my least favs...)
But if you look at American animation from the 70s, most of it looks the same(Hanna Barbera). But in anime you have Osamu Tezuka's style, more American influenced, and then the Tatsunoko style that most anime is assosiated for.

I really don't care if a cartoon is anime, or American. I personally like both. I mean there are some American cartoons I love, like Samurai Jack, and The '03 TMNT, and some I can't stand like The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and Fanboy, and Chum Chum. Same goes for anime. I love Outlaw Star, but at the same time I can't stand Lucky Star. So yeah It's really not the animation or where it comes from for me, as much as it's the writing or story. ^_^

I think that anyone who like retardoons over anime doesn't watch good anime. I don't understand how garbage like spongbob, simpsons, and tmnt is better than DBZ, FMA, or most other anime. The main reason anime is more popular is because they can actually implement a story and go in sequence. for every cartoon that has an actual story, there are 20+ anime that do.

American is also more adept at creating idavidual character designs, take a look at sponge bob and notice that every key character has a unique silhouette that you can notice anywhere, while anime seems content with almost no variation beyond making fun of fat people. And for the record i do like some anime shows, Cowboy be-bop is fun as is Myazaki.

Anime is generally poorly rated in America.
Only some of the most HIGH PROFILE anime doesn't get cancelled quickly in the USA.
As for anime bashing, since not too many Americans are Japanophiles (outside of forum posters), I think that anime bashing is directly rated to the rants of anime nerds/japanophiles.
You won't see too many Americans hating/caring about China cartoons unless China-Boos arrives and piss people off.

Frankly I don't have any issues with TheJosephShow at all and as a guy who grew up watching both anime and Disney movies, I got the best of both worlds and can see where he has a point.

This topic has been on my mind for a while and the reason that both mediums are starting to suck is a lack of inspiration. I can only name a few new anime series that don't feel like cheesy fanservice anime or shows filled to the brim with useless moe characters. Likewise, I've yet to find a good western cartoon in a while, although 9 looks awesome. I'm skeptical of Pixar due to them pandering to kids, but maybe watching Wall-E on Starz will change that. Both mediums need new ideas badly.

The classic 80s and early 90s anime were the best animated. The Fist of the North Star movie was insane as far as gory deaths are. Akira on the other hand was the most flawlessly animated anime film I've seen so far. A lot of OVAs from the 90s such as Catgirl Nuku Nuku and Tenchi Muyo were very well animated. The newer stuff such as Naruto and Bleach has nice artwork but bad animation.

There is lots of anime I hate as well even though I prefer anime. (Crayon Shin-chan and Naruto are my least favs...)
But if you look at American animation from the 70s, most of it looks the same(Hanna Barbera). But in anime you have Osamu Tezuka's style, more American influenced, and then the Tatsunoko style that most anime is assosiated for.
