Yea, I work at Outback steakhouse and this is definitely on the money. Customers that won't let you finish your sentence, don't care to look at the menu and would rather here you rattle off every single item, ask for steaks one way when they really want it another way, etc. People are just STUPID. Oh, and the horrible tippers. I'd hate to turn this into a race thing but even the black people I work with hate to wait on other black people... Nothing racist, just truth.
@DiabolicalGentleman you're so fucking right, bro. The only racist bone in my body came from serving. It's only a stereotype because they-keep-doing-it.
Too extreme.. I am sure no waiter got "salmon, give me salmon" when they welcomed a customer.. Unless if it was a misunderstanding. This is still funny though.
I worked in a restaurant for 2 years before I graduated high school and OMG we dealt with idiots like this all the time. I wanted to yell at ppl so bad. Especially when they started drinking uh it would get bad sometimes lol
@bacchusFA so u have welcomed a customer to where ever hell hole your from and they responded with "salmon, get me salmon". or maybe ur just up set with real customers who are a-holes but not retarded.
Most servers deserve at least 15%, but some servers deserve a scant 2%. You leave the 2% to show that you didn't forget to tip and that the waiter is probably a douche. However, some servers deserve greater than 15%, though that is a rare case.
@BacchusFA Sounds like you're one of the servers deserving a 2% tip (compared to the 15% that I usually tip). Your attitude doesn't probably doesn't even deserve a tip.
This is too funny. I'm working TWO serving jobs to put myself through grad school and all I know is once you serve for even a day, you will never tip less than 20% the rest of your life (w/ the exception of very extreme scenarios of bad service but even then I couldn't tip less than 17%).

@home64space When my order is screwed up the cook, the server is still going to pay the price. I'm not tipping 20% after my order is screwed up - regardless of who's fault it is. And too many servers act like they're entitled to a great gratuity for simply existing. Yes, many customers are dumb. But yes, many waiters are horrible at what they do.
@mbl4321 Wow you're a douche, and I hope you never come to my restaurant and sit in my section. You take it out on the server when something goes wrong completely out of their control? The cooks make a set amount of money per hour so it's no sweat of their back if they fuck up someone elses dish. I hope someone goes to your place of business and fucks with you.
@EngleSackJus lol...what a dumb statement. My wife graduated from U of Penn. She's been in the restaurant industry for 20 years. She also probably makes much more money than you ever would.
Word. So typical...ugh I hated serving...at least when you bartend, you can tell a customer as it is and they will still respect you enough to tip you big
It's scary how accurate this is. As a waiter myself I've had almost every experience in this video happen to me at some point and seeing this makes me feel relieved that I'm not the only one who has experienced complete and utter idiocy
How has quoting the video that we all just watched, word for word, become so popular? We all know what was said, we all had our favorite parts, copy and pasting what was already said is a pointless endeavor. If you don't have anything to say, don't comment.
SO many customers give me STUPID jokes and I'm forced to stand there and pretend to laugh. SO many others tell me they're ready to order, then leave me standing there while they talk it over and refuse to let me leave and come back, because regardless of the seven other tables I'm currently attending, they are the center of my world.
The scary part is. This actually does happen way too often and a server from a restaraunt 10 miles away from me will probably tell you the same. No way in hell will I become a waiter again. Its like the money can be good but you REALLY, REALLY REALLY have to have the patience and personality to work with the general public. Otherwise your job and life will become a living hell. IF you dont really like people dont be a waiter. WARNING ! LOL. i know
I HATE this person, I worked at a restaurant and it was a steakhouse and this is soooooooo true. Someone would ask for medium well and then have NO idea what medium well is(They really meant well done) then would send it back twice and then say "i can't eat this, it's charred" well of course! Also, I would get that person just like here who would eat 90% of their food and say it was terrible and they want their money back, but I had managers with balls who would say no to them.
I had always wanted my first job as waiter, and im so glad that didn't work out. First because of the incompetent people, second because I have found through other jobs that I just don't like people in general. lol
the definition of not ready vs. the boss in the background ushering their staff along is always an interesting tale. Sometimes waiters and waitresses are being watched like a hawk by their bosses and it really puts the pressure on...
I love you more than bears love honey, I love you more than Jews love money, I love you more than Asians are good at math. I love you even if it's not hip, I love you more than black guys don't tip, I love you like Puerto Ricans need baths.
Good summary of what servers go through on a daily basis. My wife is a server and she had a couple actually write on the bill that they were not going to tip her because they couldn't get seated right away when they showed up because the restaurant was full and they didn't make reservations. Cheap people will always find an excuse. Also, the comment about certain ethnic groups being terrible tippers is actually true for the most part. Just ask any server.
Can you actually do that? Can you insist what you got wasn't prepared the way you liked, even after eating 80% of it, and then not have to pay for it?
@wakeupscreaming I've had a table do that to me, they ate literally the whole entire appetizer then said it was too crispy, then we made them a new one and took the appetizer off the check. My manager was baffled because he couldn't even show the cooks that it was too "crispy."
so hilarious. only thing is, he said she only has to pay for the drinks, not the steak... so it couldnt have been 50 bucks. but obv makes it better to include getting absolutely jipped-- all the worst and most demanding customers jip ya.
OMG! Every time a guest leaves a shitty tip I wait until they reach the exit and recite my Server's Curse, "May your firstborn be a daughter who gets knocked up, drops out of school, and has to wait tables so her trailer is not foreclosed."
This is the best waiter video I've seen! "I'm going to walk by your table every five minutes & fart; hoping the smell will make you leave"... I almost choked on my drink!!!
@Ruthlesseclipse are you going to get up and get it yourself? or perhaps clean up the table when your done? Or maybe you'd like to clean the table off before you sit down. Maybe you would like to take your own order? You need to stop thinking you're so high and mighty in the world and tip your waiters/waitresses. They work hard, make less than minimum wage (because they get shitty tips) and try to make your time at the restaurant as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.
@Ruthlesseclipse Do not eat food from my restaurant, for I will make sure that it is mixed with some form of bodily excrement that I will cheerfully pass off as a foreign embellishment.
@BacchusFA Okay, Chef. Say you worked to make the food and got paid a certain amount for your efforts, and the customer refused to pay you for it, and said "I'm there to eat, not to pay for it. Go suck my balls." Would you call them a "true lamer" as well?
@Ruthlesseclipse Wow. I bet you self identify as a Christian, too. I think you better stick to the drive thru at Mickey D.'s or someday a waiter is going to give you a little surprise in your food.
I've fantasized about throwing hot water with lemon or an extra-chilled-extra-dry-extra full martini in someone's face, quitting and taking the douchebag outside and beating the crap out of them. Or just walking down the street, seeing the douche again and beating the crap out of them. I also imagine them with their 5 dollar bill on $170 waving it around in the air as they cross the street and get pummeled by a bus. Ahhh, the service industry can train the best/worst warriors.
Hahaha, this is great. I have a friend that is like this at restaurants, I wouldn't be surprised if they have gotten their food spat in more than a few times. I always try to be as polite as possible, there is no reason to act like that to anyone, especially to someone who is handling your food.
This is amazing!!!! hahahahaha...I've dealt with every single part of this video, people are absolutely ridiculous. $1 on a $50 check?? Go to effing McDonald's, it's right down the street!!! :)
"You are not ready. you are the definition of not ready."
I've never waited, but i have friends that serve and do dine out here and there. I occasionally invite friends that I want to smack and never take back to any restaurant with me ever.
Yes, yes and yes. This video is awesome. My favorite guests are the ones that think their meal should be free or something because we ran out of baked potatoes. Free? Really? Does Kohls give you a free pair of socks because they ran out of your shoe size? Could you imagine the look on their faces if you asked for said socks?
this is the best video ever! ive been watching it the past 2 days before i go to work so that i remember there are other people that suffer being a server too. why is it that there are more morons in the world than normal people and everyone turns into an as-ho-e at a restaurant?!
I agree that people can be unecessarily rude or annoying to servers, but it must also be said that servers as community are insufferably entitled, and self-pitying. If I have to hear one more "former server" self-righteously tell me that he/she just has to bus the table after we eat or tip 40% because they "knew what it was like" I will die a little bit inside.
@Jaydcassat Really? America, in general, is "insufferably entitled." I am a CURRENT server. I always *always* give 110% of myself to my guests, even if they are arrogant assholes who think I am not fit to shine their shoes. Most of the people that I have worked with in the restaurant business are terrific servers who go above and beyond their job and then get stiffed for it. There are far too many people who don't tip enough or don't tip at all. No server I know expects for 40%. That's ridic.
@Jaydcassat 40% is more than excessive. If you get a great deal comped because of the server then 40-50% of the original check should be the norm, if you are a good person. I have been a server for a number of years (unfortunately) who are you to say what your co-diner should tip or do. You are being self-righteous admitting that you die inside when you see a gesture of kindness, selflessness and generosity at ABSOLUTELY NO COST TO YOU. Why don't you stop martyring yourself? Have a nice day.
I like my job, but being a server can be very stressful at times, and it's hard work. You do a LOT. While I don't expect my customers to bus their own tables, it's SO helpful to have a customer that has the decency to NOT leave the place a disaster area. And while I certainly don't expect 40% tips, it always makes my day to know that someone appreciated me enough to leave me something nice. Try being a server sometime. You'll learn quick.
@LupeOneLeo Seriously! People say "whats so hard about taking an order?" LOL that's the easy party. Its dealing with complete douche bags and morons that's hard..
it doesn't make sense that the whole scene was supposed to be at a restaurant instead of standing in front of a tree. u need to think and pick the right scene to apply to your story.
This really defines several years of my life. When I'm at a restaurant now and I hear someone being douchy at a table near me, I make sure they know it.
Why don't we just be less critical of each other and take a moment to laugh at some of the crap we hear/put up with every day. I work at a sports bar and I have12-15 tables on average during big games. So yes it is more common than you think. As long as there is a good runner it can be done.

Can you insist what you got wasn't prepared the way you liked, even after eating 80% of it, and then not have to pay for it?
wakeupscreaming 11 months ago
@wakeupscreaming I've had a table do that to me, they ate literally the whole entire appetizer then said it was too crispy, then we made them a new one and took the appetizer off the check. My manager was baffled because he couldn't even show the cooks that it was too "crispy."

Ruthlesseclipse 1 year ago
@Ruthlesseclipse are you going to get up and get it yourself? or perhaps clean up the table when your done? Or maybe you'd like to clean the table off before you sit down. Maybe you would like to take your own order? You need to stop thinking you're so high and mighty in the world and tip your waiters/waitresses. They work hard, make less than minimum wage (because they get shitty tips) and try to make your time at the restaurant as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.

@LupeOneLeo Spoken like a true lamer. You should never work in a restaurant regardless of what you have to endure and I'm a chef.
BacchusFA 4 months ago
@BacchusFA Okay, Chef. Say you worked to make the food and got paid a certain amount for your efforts, and the customer refused to pay you for it, and said "I'm there to eat, not to pay for it. Go suck my balls." Would you call them a "true lamer" as well?
LupeOneLeo 4 months ago

I've never waited, but i have friends that serve and do dine out here and there. I occasionally invite friends that I want to smack and never take back to any restaurant with me ever.
I have however valeted.
ajbaker84 1 year ago
Yes, yes and yes. This video is awesome. My favorite guests are the ones that think their meal should be free or something because we ran out of baked potatoes. Free? Really? Does Kohls give you a free pair of socks because they ran out of your shoe size? Could you imagine the look on their faces if you asked for said socks?
jibbyjackjoe 1 year ago 2
this is the best video ever! ive been watching it the past 2 days before i go to work so that i remember there are other people that suffer being a server too. why is it that there are more morons in the world than normal people and everyone turns into an as-ho-e at a restaurant?!
taytorweiner 1 year ago 3
I agree that people can be unecessarily rude or annoying to servers, but it must also be said that servers as community are insufferably entitled, and self-pitying. If I have to hear one more "former server" self-righteously tell me that he/she just has to bus the table after we eat or tip 40% because they "knew what it was like" I will die a little bit inside.
Jaydcassat 1 year ago
@Jaydcassat If you have ever served, you would know. Obviously you haven't, so gtfo.
jibbyjackjoe 1 year ago
@Jaydcassat Really? America, in general, is "insufferably entitled." I am a CURRENT server. I always *always* give 110% of myself to my guests, even if they are arrogant assholes who think I am not fit to shine their shoes. Most of the people that I have worked with in the restaurant business are terrific servers who go above and beyond their job and then get stiffed for it. There are far too many people who don't tip enough or don't tip at all. No server I know expects for 40%. That's ridic.
sassysharay 1 year ago
@Jaydcassat 40% is more than excessive. If you get a great deal comped because of the server then 40-50% of the original check should be the norm, if you are a good person. I have been a server for a number of years (unfortunately) who are you to say what your co-diner should tip or do. You are being self-righteous admitting that you die inside when you see a gesture of kindness, selflessness and generosity at ABSOLUTELY NO COST TO YOU. Why don't you stop martyring yourself? Have a nice day.
aaaaaaaarrrghhhh 1 year ago
@Jaydcassat Dude it's called empathy.. obviously you don't understand the concept. You never heard the phrase "walk a mile in someones shoes" ?
MrRadaikon 10 months ago
I like my job, but being a server can be very stressful at times, and it's hard work. You do a LOT. While I don't expect my customers to bus their own tables, it's SO helpful to have a customer that has the decency to NOT leave the place a disaster area. And while I certainly don't expect 40% tips, it always makes my day to know that someone appreciated me enough to leave me something nice. Try being a server sometime. You'll learn quick.
