  • I WONDER HOW MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE WERE HUNG UNFDER ENGLISH aka norman LAW since it came in :(

  • It should say 'sorry we got it so terribly wrong' on his grave stone....

  • EWAN MAC COLL le compositeur

  • WOW....I just stumbled upon This... because of my interest in History in general...What a FAB voice This Beautiful Lady has!! SHE IS AWESOME....!! LOVE THIS SONG..(Though Chilling) R I P Tim Evans......People Hav'nt Forgotten You and Never will.....

  • She made so much out of a simple tune. Her singing is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • who s this woman , she s great !

  • She makes it look so easy and effortless. Brilliant.

  • @wrongwayup

But, she gets it wrong!!! The last verse should have read 'go down you MURDERERS, go down'. It was the police, judge, jury, hangman who murdered Timothy.

  • Judy Collins = awesome much?

And her eyes are even gorgeous in black and white!

  • My name is Tim Evans. I was so pleased to find the chords were Em, G, and D. Now I can play a song about myself.

  • Hey, ME TOO! lol

  • <-avedisdrummer09

  • @quikdeth88 Awesome.

  • bellissima

  • You wouldn't have one of these vintage videos where she sings "Love comes a-trickling" with some other bloke, would you?? I've been desperately looking for it... PLEASE let me know...

  • Lacks the viciousness of the studio version, but great all the same.

  • Well sung and played. But Judy made one mistake. In the last verse she should have sung 'go down you murderers'. That is, the plural (murderers) as opposed to 'murderer'.

The Judge, Jury, Police Officers, Prosecution Lawyers, they all committed murder.

Hence the last verse by Ewan McColl was 'go down you murderes, go down'.

  • WOOW

  • I've loved Judy Collins' music since I was a child in the 60s.BIG thanks for posting this.

  • Never heard of her till now i love Christy Moores version of this song thats how i came across this lady.

What an effortless voice! Beautiful, a real woman! sexy too!!!

  • the story was made a film starring Richard Attenborough as Christie. The film is 10 Rillington Place.

  • 45rpmsingle. a film that still makes my hairs stand on end and the skin on my back crawl.

    Heddwch Timothy bach.....

  • Evans wasnt a murderer so I dont understand your comment which infers Evans was"the murderer"?

The hanging of Timothy Evans is one of the greatest miscarriages in British justice. Evans` wife and infant child. Evans protested at trial his landlord was the murderer but crucial facts were withheld from the jury who found Evans guilty and he was hanged.

Shortly after the truth about Christie emerged and he was hanged in 1953 but it was too late for innocent Evans.

  • @45rpmsingle is that not the whole point of the song? i realise she gets the last verse wrong, but i think nevertheless the intention of the song is genuine- she still says: "the crime he didnt do"

  • I love this song!

  • omg

  • Judy sounds so much better in this range than the higher range she adopted in the 70s. She's the only major singer I know of whose voice got higher as she got older.

  • Fantastic clip. I was waiting for a 'punchline' and it didn't disappoint by implicating the judge and jury from 1949. I never knew this song existed, and it must have been quite contraverial only eight years after Christie's execution. This was broadcast the same year Ludovic Kennedy's book on the case came out.

  • Better than on the "Maid of Constant Sorrow" Elektra album from 1961.

Judy's voice had much improved. We love Judy & Pete, Great thanks !
