Who's to say that he wasn't inspired by Matt? And what would be wrong with that anyway? Originality be damned, Dave is great and so is his dance blog, and we need more people in the world that actually pursue what they love.

He and his colleague thought to put to different use his dance-around-the-world videos by employing them in this ad. Part of what makes it truly astonishing and inspiring.

That's not inspiring, that's just out of touch with today's average person who could never even dream to do such. Matt's videos were far more inspiring and real.
So... will Stride Gum sue after seeing this completely unoriginal ripoff of their "Where the Hell is Matt?" advertising campaign? Sure it's cool but you could insert anything in there and make it work, which I'm sure he did for this. There is no way he traveled the world just to make a Samsung commercial. Big fail.
@Y0UTUBEDEMON He's been doing this at least a year, without Samsung. I've been watchin his videos back from when he started, so that part is definitely true. However, I'm pretty sure Samsung just saw his Youtube channel and contacted him and were like, "WANNA DO A COMMERCIAL?!!"
@TheSim1derful NO. This is for a contest. He had to submit it. I know this because Samsung has been doing these contests for awhile. Plus, anybody who knows advertising would know how epic and well known the "Where the Hell is Matt" videos were. They would not contact him to do a copy of an already successful campaign.
I'm sure he's a great guy, but I'm not going to back down that this is completely unoriginal for an ad.

I don't think Samsung's highlighting that use of their product is grounds for a suit. But I definitely agree that this commercial is extremely strongly reminiscent of the other one.
