  • @deathcoptertrick no it's Jeffery Lewis

  • Paint me a picture? :]

  • Like your painting revisions and your original song. Keep painting!

  • OK, since you asked. i think that first verse is one of your best. what becomes of the painting I'm not sure it matters except to your local art shop who provides your paints. But the whole energy is first rate as entertainment and I'm eagerly awaiting part II. Would you please include another verse where you rhyme with Seattle? Perhaps something about global warming, the fish market and "a little flatter." Doug Day, Sweet Chariot music festival, Swan's island, Maine

  • you it's not the guy in the video singing, right?

  • Found this whilst searching for Jeff Lewis tracks - love what you've done here. Is it finished yet??

  • thank you.. Jeff is a legend! I've added the next part to the description on the right.. I also made a video for Jeff's acid song which he linked on his website :]

  • god, you're so good cheekychen. :D

  • I liked watching his face change, though it was a good expression, shame it was unable to survive in its own right. Did it get suddenly drafty at the end? You seemed suddenly cold =P Keep up the good work mate.

  • where part 2?! fun stuff man. i dont think you ever really finnish a project we just get to the point where we cant see it anymore. or we have a deadline of some kind or something.. but like a said really fun stuff to watch.

  • thanks very much! the second part of this is my 'make art' contribution.. cheers :D

  • Really great to watch you work and truly inspiring great stuff :)

  • waoh...really cool!

  • thanks aimee :)

  • YOUR ART IS PROFUNDO...Y REAL.SALUDS

  • hello!i like very much the music,whAT is it?one big kiss, i like your creativity, your pictures never are finish.

  • Thanks, he's called jeffrey Lewis.. link in the description :)

  • i am not sure if i have told you this, but i adore watching you paint.

  • thank you very much :)

  • As for the vid? Absolutely love the J. Lewis tune, respect. Big fan of that fine, indie tradition of D.I.Y./low-fi/troubador/

acoustic/idiot savant/ style that my MAN Beck trailblazed back in the late 80's...the golden age of American indie music. For me the painting was completed at :43. No actually on the other hand...yeah knowing when to stop or not..is half the battle. How about?...no, maybe....what about....

  • This reminds me of Warhol's infamous fast talking, cigar waving, dealer Ivan Karp, advising Andy(how to be more marketable and commercial at a time when Jackson Pollack was all the rage)he'd say: "Andy you gotta drip baby, you GOTTA DRIP!!"(lol)Sorry Paul, I'm a pathetic little spewing repository of useless cultural anecdotes, but if it worked for Andy don't knock it....

  • haha! please don't apologise! I've been listening to a lot of velvet underground the past week..since i saw the doc on your channel.. still got most of them left to watch, but I know where you are now!! :))

  • Wonderful! Awesomeness! Love the song too, goes very well.

  • hey you! than you hon :)

Hope you're well goldfish lady XD

  • awesome! hit me up with the link for shaw!! thanks :)

  • ay ay ay this is way awesome paul, vid and song were both intriguing:)

    XX

  • Thanks Sami!! long time no vid! (that sounded like a catchprase, i might copyright it, lol)

So how you been? And new songs on the go?

    :)

  • yes, yes, yes!

new vid -- and it is for you!

a response to your "make art" vid...

    my lil sis helped out:)

  • love it!

  • Just curious, you didn't have to spit after you painted with your mouth? Or did you fast forward that out? Is that the first time you've ever done that while painting?

  • I was blowing to redirect the dripping paint... lol :)

  • you are such an awsome artist i loved the portrait of the man you covered up. its the layered look ,im so new to this ive never seen art that was covered .well i have painted over may of my faces i paint its not easy for me to do portraits so i keep trying till i like it,do you paint from imagina tion i do .i may start to look at the subject more though .i like realisy art also. who taught you to paint. i got many books and videos ,pbs tv also, do you get public tv in the uk ,love ya gina

  • Hello :)

I taught myself, though I studied illustration/animation at uni and it was a very intensive drawing-based course which had us life drawing one day a week and location drawing at different places/museums/galleries in London once a week for most of the 3 years :)

Yeah, we have TV, though we have to pay a tv license.

  • i love what you do...its awesome, wish i could do it!

I agree...excellent song choice as well!

  • thank you!!

  • You picked the perfect song for this video. Great art!

  • cheers artmemoirs :)

  • This reminds me,

of that story i was told when i was little. The one about the giant and all the little people that tie him up. Hmm, i can't quite figure out the name of it though. hahah,

    AWESOME work! :) :)

  • thank you! I can see where you're coming from! :)

  • =D You're welcome.

  • wow, you never sease to impress me. on another note, i was just watching the Kanye West music video of "the good life" and all the animation and drawings in it reminded me of your work so i decided to see what was new with you, maybe you should check it out for some inspiration to draw in your free time between work and social life :p, good luck

  • Awesome, I hadn't seen that until you pointed it out... It's pretty cool, so cheers for that! And thanks for commenting too! What is it you do with XXI?

  • play games and have fun with the other members, we finnaly got up to 21 members, yay XXI

  • I like the way that your painting is constantly changing and developing. It's like art to watch it being made -not just the final product.

  • Hey Devon, Thanks a lot miss :)

    I hope's you're good!

  • I dont know why, but those colors together look kind of violent to me. how about flowers and kitties and puppies and unicorns-heheh sorry joking..anyway, you got a good start on the rainbow part. so far looks like a man buried behind a wall of grafitti

  • I know what you mean.. The background is a storm at the moment.. It's in need of jazzing up I think.. A unicorn could be very cool!

  • Thanks zhozi :))

  • you are a great painter

    good work on your site!

    thanks for sharing,

    cindy

  • Hey cindy! thank you very much! Real pleased you likey :)

  • Really like this song.. maybe cause I live in NY or cause i'm an artist? who knows

  • Hey Olivia! thanks again for the response, it kicks posterior :)

  • is it okay that I think you're awesome?

  • certainly not. take it back /;u}*)

  • you should get sick funky fresh wit it...

    ...

    in my opinion.

  • Hey Billi! I think you're right.. it needs livening up 4shaw. Did you find those pens?

  • i haven't checked to be honest but i have it written down so the next time i'm out i'll be stopping by the art shop. thanks again.

  • I knew I'll love this one!!!

I think I like the cover painting better, I'll know for sure after part 2...

    :-)

  • Thanks marmosetguru! I have been toying with the idea of just painting over and over it, but I think I'll let the painting decide! lol :)

  • :-) excellent idea, I know I'll love it as well...

  • Hey Paul, its me Raine!

I have a new job now too~ I think I make that an excuse not to make any videos which is kinda of bad I guess. I should make one. I'm really excited about seeing what kind of masterpiece this painting will turn into~ =)

  • Hey Raine! Congrats on your new job! what are you doing?

I know what you mean... it's tough to summon the energy sometimes! I hope all's good :)

  • I'm teaching english. It doesn't pay much, but I like the children there. Hard to do cuz it just started. Oh wells. Well, I made a new video. I guess I'm starting again, but we'll just have to see.

  • Ah wow! How cool! Thats sounds really good.. I'm gonna go check your new one now! woop!

  • I like these art vids, it is nice to see the artist at work in compressed time. I wonder what you see when you watch these. I know for me it took 3min and 4sec, for you , it must have been hours. I guess Einstein was right about the whole relativity thing.

  • Hey Eric! thanks a lot man! I think it was about an hour so far.. I wasn't so sure where it was going so decided to take a break.. that's why I thought I'd ask you guys what you thought.

I like your comment about how I see it.. because I wonder what you see too! lol.

    Hope all's good bud :)

  • As for me I think art is created for it's audience, however the artist has an agenda of their own to deal with. For me it is nice to sit back and watch someone else do the work for once. I also like the progression of thought that I see as you create. Wonderful. You are a very talented man Paul.

  • Thanks man, you really are too kind! I think I'm the same to an extent with reasons for creating, but at the same time it's like therapy in its self.

Dude, I can't believe I missed your art video. Hats off fella d :)

  • yes, lets not make light of the therapeutic nature of creation. In fact, I think I do my best work when I'm depressed or in need of closure. Thanks again for the comments, it is nice to be recognized by your pears.

  • i cant remember if i already commented on this vid.....oh well i will again if i have :o)

im rather excited about whats to come it looks awesome so far.

drippy paint + bright colours = awesomeness

p.s if i give you a slice of cake can i have you hat??

  • ooo, a slice of cake huh... is it home-made? what kind of cake? and is it decorated?

    mmmm, cake :p

  • you are a good painter. My favourite painter

  • oo, hello again! thanks you very much! Your comment made my day! :)

  • very very good

  • thank thank you :)

  • i rather like the man, if bits of him still came through..as if he comes from another frame of mind.

    love the process

  • thanks artofcolor :)

    I like your thinking!

  • Joy of Painting eat ur heart out lol. nice work

  • Thanks sonic! pleased you like it :)

  • Thanks kickingbird :)

  • Leave off Gina! lol, it took me an age to get to the technical level of mediocre :)

    Have a nice weekend ;)

  • wow!!! dude i love this video. perfect song too. i say that i don't have any money problems cuz i don't have any money, and there was a line about minor problem paying the rent and 5 stars. i wish i could do more than 5 stars and favorite.

i guess i'mma make an artist playlist and this will be # 1. i wish i had suggestions, um. just keep doing what yer doing. or do something else. i have a feeling i'mma love it either way

  • Hey Thanks Mike! It means a lot bro! I hope everything's good whatever you're up to this fine saturday :)

  • It's kind of making me think of a landscape, of hills, where the hills are made of a woman's body reclining on her side, and thunderclouds raining down on her. Don't ask me why I see this.. :-)

  • I like that chamisa! thanks a lot nd hope you're having a good w/e :)

  • can't wait for part 2...

  • thanks Albs :)

  • You should throw a cow in there.

=P Just kidding. But I definitely like it. For a moment there I thought you were gonna put an African-like mask on his face and do a safari behind him, but I really like where it's going so far.

  • wow!!! The music and art went together so well. I watched it twice, and I felt trapped and isolated at first. Then the colors brightened the mood. You are very talented!!!

Thanks and hope you had a great week!!

  • Thanks Reg! I'm really pleased you enjoyed it :) have a good weekend too!

  • the red and green look really nice next to each other

  • Cheers cheezit! :)

  • Thanks km2435 :)

It's fun to allow the 'flow' to take you.. lol.

  • like it..cant wait for the next one ;-)

  • cheers mate :)

  • i'll wait for part 2 :D

  • thanks tacittales! :D

  • my art teacher says shes heard of you, when i asked her she said that u ruined the paintings by drawing over the nice work with bright colors, but i think thats your style, nice work 5/5

  • I think you're pulling my leg James. You so made that up! cheeky git :)

  • nope i showed her a video of yours and she said it looked like it, she didnt reecognicze ur face tho obv

  • Oh my goodness.. that's pretty crazy. Is she quite traditional when it comes to art? I'd be interested to know which one she was talking about! :)

  • well done

  • Thanks kimberley! :)

  • I see some creature. not a monster, just some funky looking animal.

  • i think that's your pet cat dude.

  • I bet I watched this vid 8 times before I put this comment. The song you choose for this vid is perfect. even if you didnt finish it..

  • Oh my gosh, thanks twinkie toes! I'm pleased you liked the track :)

  • Awesome man, I truly love your work. I find your videos inspiring!

    Peace

  • You're very kind to say so. Thanks :)

    peas oOO o o

  • OOO.... pretty. ^.^

  • Thanks Em :)

  • looking dapper in the black hat, paul

love the block color lines, very psychedelic. i think you should keep going with that. a little less representative and more abstract.

    =)

  • Why thank you very much! :)

I think I might go crazy-abstract-psychedelic on it! thanks :)

  • truly impressive! i wish i had that much talent like u do... cheers man!

  • too kind filip :) thank you :)

  • I definitely dug the drips...

  • I liked them too! I like seeing which one will make it to the finish line first!

  • it wants a hole in it

  • in the canvas?

  • Flow, brother.

  • I'll try! lol :) cheers bob

  • yellow, green, blue, red, purple! so much colour. i love it! and it goes. it fits together as a whole. putting so much colour together...you're so talented at that! goshgolly!

the drippedy-drips...i don't know how i feel about them yet. although they seem to go with the rest of the painting. so ... it's ok. i'll let it slide :)

  • Hey Zane :) (I still can't pronounce your name as good as you, lol).. But I don't think it balances yet.. but I prefered the drips.. lol, I love seeing people's thoughts, thanks hon :)

  • it's ok. i've had all my life to practice how to say it. YOU can pronounce it any way you want. :)

  • ah thanks Zane :)

    *zane zaney zanei

  • awesome, can't wait to see it right side up. lol

  • hahah! nice one! :)

  • niice paul! you are so relaxing to watch, even though this was a fast-forwarded painting video

    still very good

  • Ah thanks Jyran :) Pleased you enjoyed it :)

  • i cant wait to see how it turns out

i have never seen someone recycle a painting before, and what you changed it into

    INCREDIBLE =)

  • Beautiful! And the music is perfect!

  • Thanks Smanfa! I'm looking forward to it! ;)

  • Image that appeared ... inside the mind of an underwater coral reef ...

  • oooo...i like that!

  • ooo interesting! cheers suze ;)

  • Very fun!

    I enjoyed it :)

    -Crisco

  • Cheers Crisco! peace out ,v,,

  • great painting...

  • thanks perv :)

  • Hey!

I'm finding this kind of video intriguing at the moment -- being able to watch the person.. create. And thank for the link to the sound track, I agree with you, it's a fricken cool tune man.

Looking forward to see the final piece. Hopefully if you have time, would be nice to have some sort of crit at the end of it...

  • Hey Smileykai! Thanks a lot man! I like your idea of doing a crit.. I'll give that some thought.. Cheers bro :)

  • I used to love crits after every project we completed during my foundation in art -- made me realise that unfortunately in our society, art is or the acceptance of an individuals creativity is based on 30% 'talent' and 70% bullshit/gift of the gab... lol -- you my friend express your yourself unconditionally, so you do don't have to bullshit.. rofl. ^^.

  • Well first of all I love videos such as these. But I thought at the beggining it was a very good portrait and then I saw you transform it into something else. I found that amazing. I definately cannot wait to see the final product.

    Take Care

    -Bryan

  • Thanks Bryan! I hope everything's dandy :)

  • really awesome :-)

  • Cheers ifnwebtvbeta! Your username really rolls off the tongue by the way ;)

  • you can call me Sulay, if you prefer :-)

It's my name not a nick, a swear

  • Hey Sulay! thanks :)

I've not heard that name before but i like it.. however I warn you now I may forget it, so sozza :)

  • great song, and I can't wait to see where the painting goes, but it's looking good so far!

    =)

  • Cheers DaveyBlueDayz :)

  • awesome !

    **KISSES**

  • Hey Sonia! Haven't seen you around for a while! I noticed you on flickr though! Hope all's good :)

  • AWESOME PAUL!!! cant wait for part two. i lived in seattle for 5 years. i did a vi response with some shots of friends and bums and art shows. killer.

  • Cheers Jared! I'll take a look :)

  • I will be interested in seeing how that painting come out. I loved the music as well, I will go and sub him.

    Thanks my very talented friend.

    Peace,

    Allen

  • Hey Allen, cheers buddy, tho Jeff doesn't have a youtube account.. I was trying to pursuade him to start one though :)

  • Do that, I love that music, and I see you do have a number of people here that like to play in you comments section, I hope it is alright for me too as well ?

    Peace,

    Allen

  • Hey Allen! of course it's alright! lol.. check out pandora dot com and type his name in.. it'll bring up a playlist of similar music.. infact you can type any band/singer/song and you'll get loads of new stuff to listen to.

    Peace!

  • I think red and green is such a strange color combination but I'm currently wearing a red green flannel shirt... purely for comfort though. My favorite painter, even just for his color selection, is Van Gogh.

  • Yeah, red and green are complimentary colours.. They are basically the equivalent to black and white, as they come opposite ends of the colour wheel.. they play tricks with your eyes at times.. Van Gogh is a home boy.

  • Hey, Cool start... i like it alot.. i dont really know what my input is but i kinda like where your going with the painting, Looks like a fantasy type land built from a mans face, kinda symbolising "we are everything". this is really good!

    Be well & Much love

    Cherilyn

  • Hey Cherilyn :) Thanks a lot.. I can see what you're saying! Hope you're all good :)
