They could probably switch back, but right at the end you can see the dad throwing the dog in his son's body something to fetch. Clearly, they're going to have some fun before they do. So weird, though. Technically, the child she gave birth to is not in the actual body she gave birth to - it's in a body of a household pet she might have helped pick out. If they can't switch back, how will they adapt to having their roles swapped? Which one do they take for walks?
