the old man was buried deep in mountain soil, i kept on shoe but the job as in rescess the old man wasnt right about the motorcar i guess now ive all but had it and the forge is very quiet
I have a couple of friends who run their own forges and make high quality armour and swords for historical groups. I love watching them work the metal into whatever it is they are making.
great track - would not have seen this if it wasn't for Peter's other track Sort of Dunno Nothin... so even tho that one's not true_country, it'll be bloody good to see more people delve into his back catalogue and hear his brilliant Aust country tunes.
Hello Peter,You have a great talent and I enjoy your songs. This one brings backmemories of mymum as she used to work the forge at home.I was first introduced to you and your songs at Katherine Country Music Muster 2004 in the NT. Enjoyed it then and still do. Congratulations
Great song. Reminds me of my Grandpa. He wasn't a smithy, he was a fitter and machinist. If he didn't have a part, he could quite often make it from scratch and machine it down to 100ths of an inch by eye. Sadly, all those parts are made by machines and computers these days. The man in the video even looks a bit like him ... kindly, weathered face, "roll your own" cigarette ... :)
i swear to god, hey hey its Saturday has made this guy fuckn famous aha

Can someone help me with the lyrics? I can't understand the line before "and the forge is very quiet." at about 2:30.

Yep. I agree with mongrel83. It sounds like: "Now I've all but had it" meaning the son/singer has grown old.

Yeah, I'm not much of a country fan myself, but Peter Denahy has some great tunes. Love this one especially!
