  • Dude! That's one of the OLD pennies! (See the wheat sheaves instead of Lincoln's Memorial?) They were worth more, back then. THAT must be the difference! LOL!

(Actually, I'm a Math teacher, so if I don't find a way to laugh about this...I'll cry.)

  • This doesnt make any cents.

  • @theciskokidd Ba-dum-dum tshhh

  • @Tominator907 hehe...Hello?!?!? Is this thing on???

  • They're both the same if you look at them on paper-wise.

  • @MrBlackEyedDog No... They are not.... Do you work for Verizon?

  • @Diedin2seconds No but the guy who said in in the recorded call did so it must be true.

  • It's even worse when he said half a dollar and half a cent, then .002 dollar and .002 cents

  • ...................

    DUDE. LOL SRSLY?

i am not an adult. i understand this. what....

the manager just failed harder than the original person

  • Who the phuck disliked this?

  • 11 dislikes? People have no common cents.

  • once you get into .002's, things obviously get confusing, lol

  • Fucking apes should be fired

  • This guys an asshole!!

  • Geezuz!

  • how can people be so retarded..

she acknowledges that 1 dollar is different then 1 cent.

she acknowledges that .5 dollars is different then .5 cents

but she won't acknowledge that .002 dollars is different then .002 cents?

my mind is all full of fuk right now

  • that was amazing...

"do you recognize theres a difference between 1 dollar and 1 cent?" --Yes

"do you recognize theres a difference between half dollar and half cent?" --Yes

"do you recognize theres a difference between 0.002 dollar and 0.002 cent?" --No

Cell phone companies...what can't they get away with?

  • I LOLed so hard when she said it is a matter of opinion

  • Guy: When you get your paycheck does it come in dollars, cents or both?

Manager: It comes on paper dumbass.

  • Manager: There's obviously a difference of opinion.

Guy: I agree. I believe that 0.002 cents doesn't make sense.

    Manager: I don't know, I'm not a mathematician.

Guy: When you get your paycheck does it come in dollars, cents or both?

Manager: It comes on paper dumbass.

  • My dad and I had this debate once.

  • @ipeters61, there is something to debate about? :(

  • I got very angry.

  • The 11 people who disliked this video can't do math.

  • Comment removed

  • This is why we do WORD PROBLEMS. When you keep plugging wrong numbers into the calculator, you're gonna keep getting wrong answers.

  • LOL, so funny how we watched this is math class.

  • i would do it like this...

the alleged charge, x is .002 cents

    lets convert to dollars

    .002 cents/KB * 1 dollar/ 100 cents = .00002 dollars/KB

    Next step

    KB/.00002 dollars * 71 dollars = 71/.00002 = 3550000

so for his bill to be 71 dollars, he would have to use 3550000 KB or 3550 MB or 3.5GB of data...He was alleged to have used 35893 KB or 3.5MB.

    3.5GB != 35893 KB.

Clearly they have charged this guy incorrectly.

  • "I'm not a mathematician."

You don't have to be a mathematician! You have .002 dollars, that is equal to .2 cents! Then you have .002 cents, and that is one hundred times less than that!

    ARGH!

  • Guy: Do you recognize the difference between your office and the kitchen?

    Manager: yes.

Guy: get back in the kitchen.

Manager: I'm not a mathematician dur.

  • Guy: You realize that there is a difference between 1 dollar and 1 cent?

    Manager: Definitely

Guy: You realize that there is a difference between half a dollar and half a cent?

    Manager: Definitely

Guy: You realize that you are a fucking idiot?

    Manager: Definitely

  • in my opinion, people owe me millions of dollars... .002 trillion, maybe? That makes "cents" doesn't it?

    hat was hilarious

  • Amazing.

  • I raged, I lost.

  • This makes me so angry.

  • You should have stayed up in Canada. At least we know the difference between .002 dollar and .002 cent

  • @danbeb Ya stay in Canada.

  • 2:20 *SIGH*

  • minimum wage jobs folks lol

  • @Espadajin, i hope their mangers are not though.

  • Maybe instead of saying "point zero zero 2 of", it would have been more effective to say "one one thousandth of" a cent or a dollat.

  • It's different on paper-wise!!

  • hahaha lol

  • "I don't know. I am not a mathematician." What?

  • He should have just told them how it should have been multiplied, so that both the manager and the service operator could realize their stupidity.

  • will someone post a link to the full video or sound file plz

  • I would have asked him (or her) to convert 0.002 cents to dollars before doing the kilobyte calculation

    .

If they did that 0.002 cents (their quote) would become 0.00002 dollars multiplied by 35,896 == 0.71 dollars

    .

  • Do you realize there's a difference between a dollar and a cent? "Yes." Do you realize there's a difference between half a dollar and half a cent? "Yes." Do you realize there's a difference between .002 dollars and .002 cents? "No."

    Holy shit, are you serious?

  • @JoeleoBallantyne Yes, you are wrong. Move it 2 places.

  • 0.002 dollars =0.2 cents

    0.002 cents = 0.00002 dollars

    A cent is 1/100 of a dollar

The dumbing-down of America is a RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

  • I. Can't. Believe. This. Shit.

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ohhh my this is the coolest thing i´ve heard in quite a while!!!! LMAO!!!!! THIS is soooo hilarious =)

  • I'm not very good at math so I can tell the difference between half a dollar and half a penny, but not 2 thousandths of a dollar and two thousandths of a penny. That's not even math. That's just knowing how big a number is.

  • MERICA!

  • LOL viihde.foorumi.eu

  • ROFL americans are retarded:D

  • LOL

  • "It's a difference of opinion"

    NO.

    IT ISN'T.

    It's not even difficult math!

This is like the riddle "What weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of iron?" You just have to pause for a second to go "Oh, okay."

  • @PAMuffinMan NO it is not like the riddle. a pound of feathers is the same as a pound of iron but .002 cents is not the same as .002 dollars.

  • @Kadda67 That's the point.

It's one of those things where, if you are not an idiot, you pause, then realize the answer is obvious. In this case, of course .002 cents is FAR less.

  • The part that killed me "do you recognize that half a dollar and half a cent are different? Yes. Do you recognize that $0.002 and ¢0.002 are different? No."

  • @ukingsken "I'm not a mathematician!" "You don't have to be, but if you're in charge of my bills you better be able to figure out how much I'm supposed to pay."

  • Guys! She's not a mathematician!

  • @samanthahuangify This has to be a sarcastic comment. I refuse to believe otherwise :)

  • I'm an customer service agent for another large U.S. mobile provider. Do any of you realize that all this d-bag manged to do was mildly inconvenience this customer service rep and his supervisor.

"I'm trying to teach math." Fuck you! Dispute the charges or get the fuck off the phone. Being condescending only made the fuck I was giving about your problem go right out the window.

"I'm going to put this on my blog." How's that new vagina you're sporting? Need help pulling your panties out of it?

  • @hitman036 You are what is wrong with this country. Do not Reproduce.

  • @hitman036 hey, u are the type of persons that hate their job.. find one that u like and you GTF out!!

if you are in customer service your job is to know what you will need to talk about. its like if you work at mcdonalds and dont know what the fuck you are selling

  • @nalgasdehule - Oh, I agree. I hate my job and think the agent in this scenario is retarded. However, the customer's douche-baggery didn't get him anywhere. It usually doesn't.

  • @hitman036 Verizon is wrong. You customer service reps don't know what you're talking about half the time. He was trying to dispute the changes; however, Verizon's agents were too stupid to know basic math.

I do agree that that "I'm going to put this on my blog" shit was stupid.

  • @hitman036 I also work in Customer Service. This is a terrible job by agent and supervisor to get to the root of the issue. They deflect it by keep bringing up his usage rather than just focusing on the question. IF they had stopped to realize it's their job to HELP the customer, they would've realized their calculation error. "I'm not a mathematician???" - Any GOOD customer service would find a mathematician if it would resolve an issue. Telecommunication companies have the WORST service.

  • @petermazzucco Yeah, they both did a really shitty job. And it was only $70. I would have waived it just to get his smug ass off the phone.

  • @hitman036 you should have done it because it's the right thing to do in this case. Sometimes, there are things you do to make your job easier, but it's not this time.

  • @petermazzucco - You are 100% correct. The supervisor, especially, was bad. She pretty much told the customer that because she wasn't competent enough to resolve the problem, he was S.O.L.

  • @hitman036 I also worked in customer service:

Agree with everyone else that disagrees with you...

  • @hitman036 So, he should be overcharged because a couple of idiots are incapable of doing elementary level math ?

  • @rusty0tea Absolutely not. Both the agent and the supervisor did a terrible job of handling this call, and have no place at Verizon, or should be properly re-trained to see that this was error and make it right. I'm simply stating that the customer did himself no favors by being condescending.

  • @hitman036 well you'd be mad if you were charged wrongfully. I get where the customer is coming from. Verizon needs to freaking do their jobs right.

  • @hitman036 And it's people like you who will get fired and someone who deserves the job will take your spot.

If you ever were this stupid, you deserve to be insulted.

There's a reason that you're working as a customer service agent and I'm a graduate student at my college teaching calculus to freshman who have an intelligence far beyond yours and anyone who works with you.

I'm making a living and getting educated while your insignificant life is going nowhere.

  • @SniperrelyT - Oh, I get it. Because I work in customer service, you're clearly better than me. I hope you get a sense of purpose from teaching a class taken solely because it's required.

And FYI, no one deserves to work in customer service and get belittled by people such as yourself. Well, except for people such as yourself.

If you only knew how many times a guy like you has been inconvenienced by a guy a like me simply because it makes me laugh. Your food's probably been spat in, too.

  • @hitman036 Actually, I am completely respectful of everyone I meet in my life. But, as evident by the way that everyone has disagreed with you, you deserve the disrespect I gave you.

I don't get a sense of purpose teaching the most failed class at my university because it's too difficult. But the fact that I'm 22 and doing a better job of helping people than someone who has a job centered around that is rediculous.

  • @hitman036 And FYI, if you have "incovenienced a guy like me" because you have no worth in your job, you deserve the disrespect I gave you. I hope you lose your job tomorrow and someone who actually needs the job takes your place.

And, yes, I am better than you because you work in customer service. But it's not that you're in customer service, it's that you are you. People like you deserve complete disrespect and nothing out of their life.

  • @SniperrelyT - I'm tomorrow off, so I don't think I'll be fired. I actually won't be fired at all because I'm extremely good at my job. It's talking to smug pricks, like yourself, that make the job difficult. We're usually very pleasant and will go out of our way to help you (at least I will), when you can treat us like human beings... something you've displayed an inability to do during this conversation. So I leave you now. Thank you for your business and have a great day.

  • @hitman036

What's so smug about telling a fucker like you that you need to get over yourself and help the customer? To quote someone below, "You are what is wrong with this country. Don't breed."

    Learn2Life

  • @hitman036 He needs to put this on his blog because it's hilarious. And no he doesnt need to be considerate when the rep and his supervisor clearly showed no sign of consideration for the customer's problem. You only need to show respect to others the way they respect you.

  • @hitman036 I get it that people need to be considerate of other people's jobs. Sometimes, it's not the rep's fault that you get charged wrongly (well most of the time it's not), but when you politely explained your situation and the rep is being too incompetent to solve your problem and act like they are all that then yes it is the rep's fault!

  • @hitman036 Shut the fuck up. If you don't know the difference between 0.002 cents and 0.002 dollars, you don't deserve to exist.

  • My algebra ii teacher showed us this in class the otherday.

  • They showed us this in math class today! (:

  • My Sprint contract is up and I was thinking of a switch to Verizon. Not anymore. Any bill disputes I've had were rough to handle, but at least they knew basic math. I am nerd raging so hard right now.

  • @sittal Don't worry, this was fixed long ago. (note the video was released in 2007). Occasionally some stupid people exist (but that's always true). This is a user error (reading .002 as .002 cents because they don't know math). As a carrier, though, Verizon is great.

  • @ATalkingFish nice try Verizon employee

  • This is WAY too painful to listen to. "Obviously, it's a difference of opinion." *Facedesk*

  • @kbtrumpeteer No one says "facedesk" *facepalm*

  • hahahahhahaah omg

  • there 10 mills in one penny, 0.002 represents 2 mills, 10,000 mills= $1.00 amiright.

  • @jsJavaScript No...

  • @shia2113 recheck your math 10,000 mills= $1.00

  • i think they know but they are just saying no cause they don't wanna take responsibility. they trolling him, no one can be this stupid!

  • How do they even breathe?

  • "paperwise"

  • I want to enjoy this. But I can't help but raging. Agfhghiriro

  • Great I just love listening to this the full version is even better 0.002 dollars is not 0.002 cents !!

  • This is so great! Verizon stinks!

  • 9 people work for Verizon customer service

  • ROFL HAHAHAHA

  • Biggest face palm ever.

  • I bet 9 people couldn't tell the difference.

  • I love that the woman tells him that it's a difference of opinion... LMAO!!

  • Hilarious.. yeah verizon sucks balls, how were these people not fired

  • Did you get a rebate?

  • Glad you posted this!

  • the funniest part of it all (i listen to this vid for a good laugh) but the whole time they are talking dollars and at the end she says "we are not quoting .002 dollars sir we are quoting .002 cents, man i love this video, just the pause in the answers they say just give me the time to laugh and for friends that has not heard it i see there expression to know they don't know the difference lol tmobile/att is gonna tear them open

  • On first listen, I 100% agreed with the customer's point of view that Verizon is not reading the price correctly. After some thinking, I can see how Verizon has a valid point of view. It's the representatives' opinions that $0.002 is read as "point zero zero two" cents, which is actually valid merely because that's how many (most?) people would read it. The problem arises because one would read "0.002 cents" in the exact same way, despite it having a different value. That confuses customers.

  • @FishDawgX

Then they should've just stuck with saying 2 cents. Thats what $0.002 is. Maybe its some marketing technique to make the numbers seem better...

  • @fuzzyboy50

    No...$0.002 is 0.2¢, not 2¢.

  • @fuzzyboy50 That's wrong. Saying "two cents" would be $0.02 not $0.002. To avoid the ambiguity, they should say "point zero zero two DOLLARS" or "two tenths of a cent" or "two thousandths of a dollar".

  • @fuzzyboy50 haha wow...you should work at Verizon

  • @FishDawgX Sorry but your comment:

"It's the representatives' opinions that $0.002 is read as "point zero zero two" cents, which is actually valid merely because that's how many (most?) people would read it."

Is totally wrong. Most people would read $.002 as "point zero zero 2 dollars"as that is the notation.

Only an ignorant child would read a dollarsigned number with the word "cents" at the end.

  • @JRBeaman Actually everyone reads dollar-signed numbers with the word "cents" at the end. For example, $0.02 would nearly always be read as "two cents" instead of "point zero two dollars". That's kinda my whole point. People are used to reading the part after the decimal point as "cents".

  • @FishDawgX >>>"$0.02 would nearly always be read as "two cents"

This is correct. But that also means $0.002 should be read as .2 cents and that's not what they guy was quoted.

  • The problem the guy had is everyone at Verizon reads this number $0.002 as "point zero zero two cents". That is not the right way to read the number. They should say "point zero zero two DOLLARS" or "point two cents" or "two tenths of a cent" or "two thousandths of a dollar". When talking about money, people are simply used to calling the part after the decimal point "cents", but that doesn't work when reading the decimal point, like reading $1.23 as "one dollar and POINT two three cents"!

  • ROFL, "It's obviously a difference of opinion." I've learned that this is the catch phrase for wrong-people-who-can't-understand-why-they're-wrong.

  • @Caleb9849 ROFLMFAO

The answer is what ever makes you feel good.

Thanks to our Federally run school system.

  • Only in America..... only in America.......

  • @Red62 And by America, you mean Canada.

  • @scjones25 North America. You look around: everyone else is so much bloody smarter than the two of us!

  • @Red62 LOL! You prove your point nicely by failing to notice that there are 3 countries in N. America!

  • @scjones25 LOL! You proved your point by failing to notice that Mexico is part of C. America!

  • @Red62 I don't know what to tell you. You're simply wrong. Wikipedia, Encyclopedia Britannica, and generally everyone who knows what they're talking about will tell you that Mexico is part of North America. In fact, Wikipedia and Britannica both include all of Central America in North America.

Have you ever heard of NAFTA? You might want to look it up.

  • @scjones25 Wow you have no life...

  • @Red62 You..Are an idiot.

  • @Wonton118 Hey: I studied for robotics, not geography. You wanna talk idiots, I can talk idiots for you, but to be honest, I do'nt understand why the other guy is trying to use such a big demeaner and ego on me: all I said is that i've seen waaaaaayyy too many idiots in my life time and they're all in around the north americas (sone living very close to me), that's it.

  • everybody dies, but not everybody lives

  • Hahahaha!!! Thats a matter of opinion. I feel bad for this guy that was brutal.

  • Painful to watch .... wanna kick someone right now -_-

  • hurts to watch ... really painful -_-

  • More than anything, it shows the American educational system continues to go down the crapper. Math: a matter of opinion.

  • there So Dumb : /

  • what in the god.

    ahahahaha.

    this is absolutely sad.

    very, very sad.

  • DUH everyone can contest math by saying it's a difference of opinion LOL, this makes me so sad to hear people are actually this stupid.

  • LOL start with cents...end in dollars.

    Gotta love the moronic system.

  • I wouldn't pay, and when they would try to land me in trouble because of it I would take them to court under Canada Trademarks Act. Yes, it's sounds like a bit much over 71 dollars but I could try and sue them for lolz.

  • .002 U.S. cents x 35 896 = 71.792 U.S cents.

Or 0.71792 dollars. The problem here is they automatically assume that when it has no number before the decimal they think it's in cents, yet when they see the number they were hoping to expect you to pay they assume it's dollars. It's a either really cheap deal they're working out wrong or they're given the quote in wrong units.

  • Apparently they don't understand decimals.

  • If I'm ever in the mood to rage, I just come to this video.

  • But they are both the same if you look at them on paperwise! Don't you know how paperwise works?

  • @872463051

In reality, 2 + 2 = 4, but if you put it on paperwise, 2 + 2 can equal whatever the hell you want! Don't forget, it's just a matter of opinion.

  • @Charmolution haha, exactly! Not even the inventor of paperwise knows how it works!

  • @Charmolution Sorry, but the results of 2+2 is not an opinion, it is a mathamatical fact to be 4,

And not what ever you want it to be, or some number that makes yu feel good. Putting it on paper or not does not change the correct answer, are you really that stupid, or is this a joke?

  • @JRBeaman

    It's a joke, and you're retarded.

  • @Prollium You are the retarded one, and that is no joke.

  • @JRBeaman

I'm guessing you didn't watch the video before commenting...

  • @Charmolution I watched the video.

It's not a joke. This kind of shit happens all the time because too many people are really that stupid.

  • @JRBeaman

Then congrats, you completely fail at understanding humour.

  • 1. 0.002 d = 0.002 c

    2. ???

    3. Profit!

  • "It's obviously a difference of opinion."

    LOL!!!!!!!

  • did you ever get this resolved?

  • Fight the Power !

  • 1 Dollar != 1 Cent

    0,5 Dollars != 0,5 Cents

    0,002 Dollars == 0,002 Cents

Suddenly this makes so much sense :O
