  • house music was so simple back then,it was just bass and drums basically, but now is mind blowingggggggg

  • erinnert mich an wie Kraftwerk - Metall auf Metall

  • tbh i like this track better than the "alive" mix.

  • I'm not a big daft punk fan but I think this is awesome!

  • Oh my god.....

    The very first... Nostalgia...

  • if daft punk and deadmau5 made a record together the world will... take an arrow to the knee

  • @mrmeekl24 the truth.

  • When the magic 1st started :')<3 Gotta love Daft Punk!

  • this is my second favorite song to chill

    the first is "Alive"

  • if u want the song just use youtube downloader with this video and covert it to mp3 so u can listen to it. its easy to get free music that way! :D

  • the legendary first single

  • one of their worst songs, but it's their first one so...

  • cool!

  • @MizeraKK Thats the album, "D.A.F.T."....

  • It's a good song, but when you keep in mind that.....

    1. It was their first song

    2. They recorded it whe they were 18/19

    3. They recorded it on low-end equipment

    4. What people considered good dance music in 1994 was Haddaway's "What is Love?"

    .......IT'S FUCKING MINDBLOWING!

  • @ColorMePink33 not to mention around the time this was made, electronic music was not easy to make like it is today, you needed all kinda hardware and analogue bullshit, cant just buy a DAW, some plugins and sample packs, or just torrent that shit like most people do

  • @Chrispoirier Exactly. No easy-peasy click-and-drag Ableton business. This is that gangasta shit.

  • @tockyn Where did you get this track?

  • @JhowMen0 pff. i barely remember it, it was in a blog named like the radio, wdpk83.7.com or something like that, it was in 2005/6 i guess, dont know if the blog its still online.

  • @tockyn ha ha. i get it.

  • This song is okay for playing when you're chilling and all, but when you imagine it in the club :O it's super awesome

  • Daft: Mad, stupid or insane. Van Gogh, anyone?

  • It sounds alot like the track "Alive" from the Homework album.

  • @TheDavid2222

Because "Alive" is the Final remix of "The new wave"

  • @TheDavid2222 lol. It kind of is. It was remade on Homework

  • OMG, Very Nice

  • even back then...Daft Punk > everything else

    :D

  • I have a keyboard on Garage Band called "New Wave" and it sounds like the boards used on this song.

    I geeked out.

  • why join the club when you can just rip it off youtube

  • @Daringskippy1 because being a fan of electronic music and Daft Punk especially, we are very loyal and participate the most we can.

  • that was the first version of alive

  • nice

  • This is Daft Punks first song realy? This is true music to put you on a trip!!! Their first song fuck me I´m so in love!!!! Increadiably fucking brilliant right now it´s pulling me away from the demons that have been holding me and driveing them nuts not understanding what´s happening! True music!!!!!!!! I love Daft Punk!!!

  • This later became Alive in Homework.

  • This song is brilliant. Was this really their first song??

  • @FunkyVerb thats because all you listen to is the tron soundtrack. THIS WAS THEIR FIRST SONG.

  • @Memblem It's not their first song.

  • @ottorostock well it is as their own group.

  • You guys realize this is the beginning of what Alive became right?

  • Daft Drive on Soma 20 years compilation

  • @FunkyVerb This isn't one of their best, but no one starts out "perfectly".

  • Comment removed

  • @FunkyVerb obviously you're a bit ignorant.

  • @SandyJayAgingerguy How does somebody's opinion make them ignorant? This is coming from a guy who actually LIKES the song.

  • @jamesminnow Saying "this song sucks" doesn't indicate to me they like the song. Saying this song sucks lacks understanding about how it was made, when it was made, and what it was made for.

  • @SandyJayAgingerguy how elitist of you

  • @jamesminnow The song has just started and I can feel it in my whole being this song is great!

  • @spikeman909 k bro.. just stating a fact that daft can also mean crazy

  • watch?v=D4knB4qZwpc

  • Fun Fact O' the day: Daft means stupid

    Stupid punk.

  • @EncyclopedicHobo Thank you EncyclopedicHobo

  • @EncyclopedicHobo Hobo means homeless bum.

    Thank you Encyclopedic Homeless Bum.

  • @EncyclopedicHobo daft also mean crazy hence crazy punk :)

  • It sounds like a bunch of daft punk....I LOVE IT

  • Every thing start here

  • When are they gonna release a new album? Tron Legacy doesn't count.

  • @camreeno360 When Guy-Man says so.

  • @scorpionjak Who would that be?

  • @camreeno360 The gold-helmeted dude from daft punk.

  • @scorpionjak Is he the dominant one in the group or something?

  • @camreeno360 No, there's no dominant one in Daft Punk. I just prefer him.

  • @camreeno360 that was a 24-track job, i bet they are not going to release anything in couple or years.

  • @JURPO90 I know but most of the songs were orchestrated and were 1-2 minutes long.

  • Doesn't this make you think of a big school gym with no one else in it, with someone hitting things with a wip in the dark? Hmm that's what I picture.

  • heard it again now i see where it fits, it fits with new wave experimental funk, i didn't get it first time round, now i do

  • Its ok Daft... I FIGHT FOR THE USERS!

  • Yeaaaaaaaah with this song all begins!!!

  • sorry its too repetitive

  • @djmusicjac its the first single they've ever released. do you think anyones first song is spectacular? Besides i'm sure you dont even like the genre so why are you listening anyway?

  • @djmusicjac don't apologise, we like it

  • @zacefros1

Yes they had a band called darlin', when they broke up the drummer joined the band phoenix to play guitar

  • This song was recorded in 1993... before Justin Bieber was even born

  • Attention: All Daft Punk Fans "Around the world" Me and My friend had an idea to Celebrate Daft punks first single Which came out on April 11, 1994. And We want to celebrate by saying thank you to Daft Punk for there great music and to listen to Daft Punk the Whole Day!!!! We'll Call it Daft Punk DAY!!!! Please thumbs this up so people could see and celebrate with us!!!! Daft Punk Day - April 11 (Every Year).

  • @TheTexasboi915 Ya' know, April 11th, 2006, I got into Daft Punk. oFTo

In my world, Everyday is Daft Punk day. :D

  • @TheTexasboi915 dude my birthday is april 11th! I feel so blessed XD

  • @TheTexasboi915 love tht idea come on guys daft punk day :D

  • This is the first ever single. and then was remade then called Da funk and was then released in 1996

  • @GrahamFARROxD I think it was Alive, not Da Funk. But anyway.

  • Love the ''cracking whip'' sample...

  • nice industrial sound

  • Reminds me of Ultimate Ping Pong and the crowd is going >_> <_<

  • Alive???

  • Esa Mierda!!!! =)

  • Love it, So pumping and funking

  • It's like an unfinished version of Alive. How the hell they got a record deal from this is absolutely beyond me...

  • @Extaticus That's because it isnt in the stage of a master track. Alive is the final version of The New Wave.

  • know where you can buy an original new wave cd???

  • It sounds... really Alive... :D

  • Jesus Christ boy's and girl's. Bitching and ragging about shit that doesn't even fucking matter...Oh, what twisted ways we live in nowadays. Just relax, cool-out, n' vibe to the music friend's. =D No one cares about your slander's squabbles and such.

  • Sounds like Berghain.

  • first I ever heard of them was in 1995 with their chemical brothers remix. never thought they'd become superstars.

  • @tockyn Do you mean in terms of album sales being lowered by pre-listening? Well:

    1. The quality of the songs are bad on Youtube. You'd rather buy.

    2. I am buying the album anyway

    3. They're not even my videos; I'm just advertising someone else's because I want to get the word out there

    4. And you are a bit of a hypocrite. If I went to a classic record store and happen to find this single, I won't buy it, because I already heard it from tockyn, but I will anyway, to support Daft Punk

  • @flamespiker9000 ehm, not the point i wanted to show, anyway lets not argue about this.

  • @flamespiker9000 lol u mad bro?

  • @flamespiker9000 you realize a true daft punk fan wont ever do that.

  • @tockyn a true daft punk fan isnt a jew and shares the sounds of bliss

  • @tockyn A true daft punk fan would do what I wonder...

  • well nt really first remember thay had a band called darlin?

  • our music teacher played this song as a example for new wave ;-D

he's no idea so I had to correct him

  • new wave's between Rock and techno... awesome

  • wow, even though this is sort of minimal, it really doesn't sound like it was released in 94. it sounds like it was released later.

  • i found this record at a swap meet. the bad thing is that it was so broken in half.

i wanted to punch the seller for not treating records with respect.........

  • Sounds so true compare to all crap commercial dance hits

  • I've never thought I was a fan of house music, but then I heard that this was Daft Punk's first hit (I'd always liked them). Then I asked myself, "If I don't like house music then why the fuck am I bobbing my body up and down uncontrollably?"

    Fan made.

  • @Toocold "The New wave" was featured on Wikipedia: ...."a limited release in 1994. The single also contained the final mix of "The New Wave" called "Alive", which was to be featured on their first album."

    Research your stuff dude.

  • ROKS!

  • ja woll geiles ding

  • the new wave is growing...take that in masses.

  • this version is way better than alive.........

  • thx for the upload.

  • Love Daft Punk, especially their early era (Homework)

  • released in SEPTEMBER 1992

  • aaaaaaaaaaaauetttuttaaawwwesssomeeaaewweeaassosmemeem

  • lol... ummo

  • You need to understand what DP were listening at the time. Acid House and Techno mainly, which at the time were the popular sounds in clubs. New Wav reflects the influences of the time. Has less soul than later stuff, but Homework was very hard in places.

  • this is daft punk so all you haters. RESPECT the creators of funk.

  • this rly is DAFT punk

  • megaupload(dot)com/?d=DX5FMHPJ

Here you go guys, its all songs from The New Wave Single. I megauploaded it.

  • I really like this, and I love daft punk, but it baffles me as to how their sound changed so dramatically from 1993 to 1996 and thereafter. This is the kind of record one would could produce in a bedroom with limited equipment. There is a secret to their updated sound, and it's not the fact that they just got better. Someone helped out.

  • @wolfejohnsp

well, this song sounds like 150 bpm while most of their albums are maybe 110-120. possibly a lot of studio work and fine tuning.

  • @wolfejohnsp It baffles you how in 3 years (thats over 1000 days!) their sound changed? It doesn't occur that maybe they just got, y'know, better with practice? That as they went on they acquired more equipment and kept the old stuff. Besides which, this sounds a lot like the techno of the time, maybe they only got into their disco styles later.

  • it sounds like rollin and sratchin'!

  • ooh very very good it is faint astickal

  • wow

  • hey guys and girls! Can someone tell me where I can download it please ?

  • The beat is so extreme. This song is much better than the crap they play on the radio (not internet radio).

  • is there anywhere i can buy this on the internet?

  • your in for nostalgia in this 1.

  • thats bullshit

  • daft punk es la ley

    yeah yeah =)

  • i love when the beat comes in unexpectedly after hearing the "raquetball game"

  • i MUST HAVE THIS. i want this on my record collection.

  • Well, i like this music... It's very "machine". Sure it haven't the same bright of the others, but it's pretty good... It's a "square" song, a "non-lapidated" work... But it's pretty good... I love it... It's strong, mechanical... It's Daft Punk : )

  • Anyone who disses this shit is out of touch-listen to how well this song is mastered (consider the year as well). That 909 drum is solid as gold.

  • i dont gib a shit when it was made. its jus friggin awsome.

  • through the air ooohhhh through the air....

  • beow bow beow bow.......

  • hhahaahahhahahha

  • HO QUESTO VINILE NN CE NE PAUUUUUUUU

  • Grandiosi Daft ....vi Aspettiamo in ITALIA....BElla musica davvero fate...!!!

  • è gia tanto che facciano un tour... per quello che so non ci saranno date italiane!

  • the final mix "alive" was actually released together with this in 1994. check the EP info

  • this song is the new wave, released 1994

the final mix (version) of it was released in 1996 under the name "alive" on the homework album

  • Homework was released in 1997.

  • @constantrodent well my vinyl says 96

    idk about your limewire download...

  • hm the lp maybe where pressed in 96 but homework was released in 97

    lmfao

  • @julianbinder123 The New Wave was released before Homework and the single off it.

  • @LMMaky no it was not a single off of homework
