A fishes consciousness is something that is still being looked into, and to be completely fair - who are we to say what is conscious and what is not? For safety reasons it is nesaccary to make sure the fish is dead when you bring it on board. A humane way of doing this is by placing a shot right in the head by a .410 slug or .22lr and you make sure to only shoot it when the head has surfaced. the inhumane way of doing this is by "bonking" it numerous times to kill it.
A fish is basically all muscle and with a 100lb halibut it can sure do A LOT of damage to your boat and yourself. Giant halibut are known to break legs, crack hauls, and even knock fishermen overboard with their powerful tails.
A lot of idiots on youtube, I swear. That halibut is not 100lbs its a 50-60lber, and a 70lber AT MOST. For those saying its plain stupid shooting a giant fish with a gun needs a bullet through their igornant brains. When you harpoon a 80lb fish and gaff it up to your boat its going to go crazy.

Ricochet is when your projectile hits the surface with an angle parallel or very close to being parallel. Here it was more a 90 degrees angle.
