On it's own, this is a fairly decent little racing game for the PC. But as a port of the greatest arcade racing game ever made, it's a big disappointment.
Yes to the average player it sucks ass but given the difference between a dedicated Sega board set and a pc its a huge accomplishment. These 3d games don't work like Mame etc.
Actually not. The graphics were not quite as nice but it had PC mode (AKA Saturn mode on the Saturn). This helped, because the handling did not translate very well to pads (due to them not having analogue) and thus when you accelerated and braked they were both too hard due to being immediate (peeling wheels or screeching out of control). The steering was also too sharp on a game pad, but this was fixed in the PC mode as the cars behaved properly with a game controller.
That's because of the fact it requires a CD to play music. Also, if you try the "Enter your Name" codes such as typing A.B for getting Afterburner theme song, game will crash. It was released in abandonware with a cracked executable (with no-CD).
After the introduction of the Geforce 2 cards the scenery was indeed broken. I have this game and the background textures are pretty screwed. On some cards it would go to about 200FPS before dropping so sadly it was unplayable. I should try it again someday.
