I don't agree .There are many American songs better than J-Rock songs and there are many J-Rock songs better than american...so they are equal.. I can admit that japan music is more creative but not this song....it even doesn't have melody...no offence ^-^'
actually, Japanese mainstream is better than American mainstream, and Japanese Mainstream is more connected to japanese underground music than American Mainstream is to American underground. Americans have some good bands (30 seconds to mars for one, creates delightful musical environnements. well, at least, in their first CD...) but Japaneses have LOT MORE good bands. nyways, that's my opinion...
Well, the reason I like JRock bands a lot more, is due to them being a lot more unique. Thats why I like American bands such as Marilyn Manson, and Slipknot. Most American bands, such as like you said, The Jonas Brothers, are just to normal looking for me, that goes for a lot of American bands. Also, most lyrics in America really suck. Most just talk about drugs, sex or violence. I know MM does that quite a bit, but hes still pretty good. To where as D'espairsRay, talks about emotional things.
It's sad if you really think about it ... -sigh- I can't believe how much criticizsm there really is in the world. I hate how people come up with a general idea of what they want in their music, and then they start a band to make a statement. Then when they get out in the world and become utterly famous, they loose complete sight of why they started the band in the first place, and it becomes all about the money, their image and other pretentious shit ... It annoys the crap out of me ...
are u guys seriously sayin jap bands are more original cuz they wear original clothing.... ya they have a diff sound cuz they prob have diff influences and alot of bands now are all sell outs but a lot of the bands that ur people are labeling as "mosher" and "emo" were established before those labels came out and its just the style of clothes they wear so they do have there own style/genre, and look at the great
Yep yep, good examples. They kinda start as a visual kei genre and then they change and go in a kinda different direction. They make something of their own and doesn't stick to only one label, that's how I feel it.
Besides, asian bands aren't that afraid of what other people say about them, but western bands seems to be kinda scared of sticking out too much. (it seems like that to me) Mostly rockbands in the west look all the same, while japanese bands put on more original clothing
So...I really like this song. D'espairsray is awesome.
Remind me what comparing bands has to do with it, again? I personally don't think that's what the song is about.
If you people want to rant about what bands are good or not, please, keep to the blogs and forums. I think the comment system was made for discussing/appreciating the video at hand. Arguing isn't going to bring anything but unnecessary clutter.
Why do people even compare Diru and Despa? I mean, I love them both, but they're completely different. They're both famous for their own reasons, neither sound alike, their lyrics aren't even remotly the same (awesome lyrics for both, though), and they're only compared when Despa is the band mentioned. I mean...I'm a good fan, but I'm seriously missing something when it comes to the connection between Diru and Despa. Anyone wanna fill me in?? Oo
I wanted to go to taste of chaos just to see them i would of been the only one singing with them there everyone else says my friend were all emo about it and just stood there...i'm emo and i fuckin love them! <3 their music....oh so heavenly
touche, but i never called myself a "true fan" either. i believe myself to be an ordinary fan, but i reall don't like it when someone wants to flame Dir en grey....lolz
well mabye you should have said POPULARIZED in the first place, and no, i dont think they played a large role in popularizing j-rock, so i can deny that.
I mean...I din't liek Diru at first because the first thing I saw was OBSCURE so...but now I'm a big fan and I'm sure they had a lot to do with "making" j-rock.
Dir en grey did not popularize J-rock, LOUDNESS, did in the early 80's and then X japan, Luna Sea, and the pillows. x-japan drummer produced a lot of early dir en grey.
Dude, what kind of comment is that? So what if they MADE jrock and visualkei (even if they didn't at all). Seriously, if you say THAT it makes ME go WTF. I'm not saying shit like "YOU DON"T LIKE KUROYUME?! WTF? THEY PRETTY MUCH MADE DIR EN GREY BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT? KYO HAS COPIED KIYOHARU! IT'S TRUE BLAAAH" and shit. God I hate the JRock fandom. Fucking elitist bastards that think your better because someone doesn't like some Jrock bands.
i'll reply to both your statements. "Fucking elitist bastard"? that what you think i am? i aint better than no damn body, nor is anyone else. i don't think i'm better than anyone at any time, so no little prick is going to decide that for me.
MetallordZz and I are scum? sounds like you think YOU'RE superior, calling us scum. also, so what if Kyo was influenced by Kiyoharu. DeG is THE bandwagon jrock band.
your a fucking toolbag. you say "im not saying shit like..." and then you just go ahead and spout your bullshit anyway. kiyoharu made dir en grey? r u fkn serious. kaoru, die, toshiya, shinya. there actually are other members in the band. and kyo definetly took INFLUENCE from kiyoharu, but he has surpassed him in every single fucking way as a vocalist and musician. Kyo literally has the most range out of any vocalist in any genre of music, and dir en grey as an entity brings that out.
MetallordZz and Shondarulez07, you guys are scum. I don't like Dir en Grey either. Does that make me a poser? I guess it does, right? Even if I'm a Jrock fan for like what..8,9 years? (not that the amount of time that you like someone has something to do with it....) Even if I already saw many bands like L'arc en Ciel,MUCC, DéspairsRay live? Even if I listen to lots of bands like Kuroyume (which btw has MADE Kyo because he 'modeled' himself after Kiyoharu), DéspairsRay, MUCC? DIE IN A FIRE.
I don't get you folks, why is J-Rock cd's going for $14 in Hot Topic such a horrible thing? Just be frigging happy you can get it for that cuz normally they're in the $40 range. And as for the fear that Emo's will snatch it up and make it "not cool anymore" A: Emo's don't care about JRock. B: Listen to music because YOU like it, not because its "in fashion." You'd actually turn against something you loved just because it got popular?
I kinda agree with both of you guys. becouse , silently deep within you, like partially like the music you like becouse you don't want to go with the mainstream. I wouldn't like it if this band became über popular, but I'd definately keep listening too it. the beautifull thing about metal is, that it's a world that all other no-life hardcore/rap motherfuckers never will get a taste from. those people aren't able to love music the way we love it !

made means they POPULARIZED the genre >.>
and no matter how much you may say you don't like them, you CANNOT deny the fact that they've played a large role in making J-Rock popular.
FYI: I'm not a "bandwagon asshole". Liking one of the most popular J-Rock bands doesn't make someone bandwagon...>.>
