If Marvel really sued for Arachnaman being too much like Spiderman, then fuck them. His only similarity is having a spider-based theme. The names sound different. Their costumes are different. Their fighting style is different. It's bullshit spiders are off-limits because of Spiderman, especially considering that Arachnaman isn't a comic book character, he's a pro wrestler. In fact, he looks like the Shocker more than anyone else.
@mdcowboy15 Yeah, but that's kind of a problem: the Shocker is a Spider-man villain. It'd be like bringing in a villain who looks like a second-string Hulk villain and calling him "The Ragemeister."
But joking aside, this was just a lazy character job. If you want someone to have a spider theme, you're pretty much down to 'Spider-man' or some sort of black widow thing, which only really works with a female character.
lol Arachnaman doesnt really sound cool when hes fighting a random guy named Doug Summers...maybe if he was fighting someone with a kick ass name then maybe making an in ring persona like that would work
Archnaman and this match is a great example of the difference between pro wrestling and sports entertainment. In pro wrestling, a goofy gimmick like Arachnaman at least has a shot to get over so long as the wrestling is sound. I found this match to be enjoyable for what it was, and was better than some of those 90 second "superstar vs superstar" bouts on Raw.
Putting a guy in the ring and letting him wrestle and cut promos goes further to getting him over than stupid vignettes and soundbytes.
Well, Brad was a rarity at times. Didn't have the charisma in interviews and only got pushed in some territories. But, if you watch him, very solid ring worker in all ways.
you're right! funny how many wrestlers did this, hector guerrero was lazor tron and the gobldeegooker, brad armstrong was also baddstreet, and brad anderson was zan panzer.
Arachnaman is just a fake Spiderman douche nag with silly string

Arachnaman needs a huge comeback....Arachnaman with the WWE CHAMPIONSHIP aroung his sculpted waist would be just what wrestling needs...

Arachnaman is the best wrestler ever. He should have teamed with the Ding Dongs to make an Ultimate Tag Team.

This is featured on the September 2008 Magazine, under "WWE's Lost Video Treasures".

Wow, Doug Somers. From AWA Tag Team Champion to jobbing to a Spiderman wannabe.

Agreed. He deserved better.

Doug probably had bigger paydays as a WCW jobber than he received as AWA Tag Team Champ
