I think it was "life-changing" because it made Blair realize that she did have feelings for Dan and that scared her and made her realize that she should just go back to Chuck and get back in "track" as opposed to falling in love with the boy from brooklyn. She just doesn't want to leave her world to enter Dan's which was basically the "future revealed" by the kiss.
You have to love Dorota and Eric in this episode. They seem to be pretty much the only sane people on the show and therefore they know that Blair and Dan's kiss meant something. A fact that Blair and Dan are strongly denying. Oh well, at least we can expect that kiss from the trailer is going to happen soon !!
