the 2005-2010 mustang GT's are still faster then this mustang and have more potential then what that V6 can do, sure it has the same HP, but the torque isn't there and some of you seem to not understand that there is a difference and torque is a huge deal with american muscle. thats what pushes you in the low end and gets you going to use that HP in the first place.
the fact that a GT is running a V8 means alot more options to make it very fast if you want compared to a V6,
crazy how my cobra came out with 305 hp and now this beastly v6 is making just as much...im sure torque not as great but dammm ford steped it up and im glad they did
@BetterDayz19 I'm trying to find out why. In my opinion this is the best colour for the mustang. It works perfectly witht he 19" wheels and billet grille you can get optional. There's really no other decent colours to choose from. Grabber blue and yellow blaze make me vomit.
I love this commercial and the title for it! It's just so clever and BADASS at the same time :D I drive around blasting Light Of The Morning in my pony because of this commercial haha
With about half city driving (fast accelerations) and back-roads highway driving (fast accelerations), I'm getting 27.5 mpg average over all that, over the course of three weeks. I've been consistently getting 33-34 mpg on the back-road highways alone. I haven't tested interstate mpg yet, but I expect good things.
I drive a 2011 Mustang V6 Premium Auto, 2.73 axle. Yet, I still get very responsive power, and a lot of it, despite being stock. I don't even want a GT, at all, after this!
This advertisement has all the elements of greatness. Awesome car, great locations, nicely filmed,, great angles, awesome music, yet it’s a bad advert. You get the impression they ran out of time and had to rush the editing.
The last 10 seconds goes to crap. Such a shame….I would love to see the commercial they had time to finish editing.
@kjrm6796 I have a 2010 V6 (one of the first people in Canada to own a 2010) I bought it in the premise of either getting a 2010 GT, or a 2011 GT based on stats, body design etc. I can honestly tell you the 240 HP I get with my 2010 V6 (some aftermarket) is AMPLE to make Civic drivers look away and blush trying to explain to their girlfriend why their ricer wagon was SO far as I break to wave and smile and offer a retry ;).
Its actually not that much. From 2005-2007 infiniti was selling their G35 3.5l putting out 300hp in the manual transmission version
Ford and Yamaha in the end of the 80's and early to mid 90s and produced the 3.0L and 3.2L taurus SHO engines, that when ford aquired the engine they contracted yamaha to design for them, they had to tune the engine down because yamaha gave them a beast of an engine that redlined at 8500 rpm and i suspect the engine produced numbers that threatened the mustang.
@mattmatt115 thats just sacrificing low end torque for high end power, look at the 5.0 vs m3 comparison the biggest complaint of the m3 is no low end power so it doesn't really matter how many hp per liter you got, its more about hp/lbs and hp/mpg. The funniest thing is when ignorant idiots start comparing ohv engines like the z06 to m3s and s2000s thinking the ohv engine is obsolete when its much more efficient in fuel consumption, size (overall size) , and hp to weight
@WalmartBiker I agree, well not with the Camaro.. I actually dislike the Camaro.. A LOT! It they were more true to the originals I uhm, might have actually gotten one of them instead of my stang.. Might have, big might have, it wouldn't be as hideously heavy as the Camaro they have today I am betting if it was designed closer to the originals.
now ford needs to come back out with the turbo 4 cylinder mustang but to about 240hp, with a 7500 rpm redline those things would sell like hot cakes. Any body agree with me on here.
@lions66666 It would be cool, but honestly with this new V6 there isn't much of a need for a turbo 4 in a stang. It's all aluminum saving a ton of weight, naturally aspirated is always better on gas than forced induction, and let's not forget that Ford is just lying with this engine. It says 305 HP but dyno tests have already found more at the wheels so it must be putting out closer to 350 360 HP at the crank. 0-60 in 5.1 seconds for $22,000 ... DAMN! No, a turbo isn't necessary.
@SauceCaptain I bought a 2011 Mustang V6 a few weeks ago, and I must agree, that turbo is not necessary. The new V6 engine has plenty of power. Sure, it's no V8, but for an everyday car, most people will be satisfied with how this car drives and handles. I bought the premium with the 202A package, black interior and exterior, and it's a thing of beauty. Ford really out did themselves, and for me to say that is something, as I have never really liked ford vehicles up to this point. Good job FORD!
Can't wait to test drive a new 5.0 GT. Thank you Ford for keeping the V8 in the GT and not going with a stupid Ecoboost. Those are fine for a Lincoln MKS (test drove one of those too, very nice car and engine), but NOT for a Mustang.
@twintornados DRIVING WHAT WAY? all hes doing is driving in a straight line at hwy speeds most of the vid so im guessing hes actually getting the 30+- that ford suggests.
@twintornados lol! Well, actually you'd be surprised. That's a Manual in the commercial, which achieves an avg of 36... Claimed.. But want to know something interesting!? In the actual statistics, written by ford, the V6 manual (Because anyone who drives an automatic is a sissy) can get FORTY TWO MPG. Though its done with Premium fuel, more than likely they are undercutting it to avoid people claiming less. Which it can vary based on altitude, time of year, temperature etc so its safer that way
@twintornados I have a 2011 Mustang V6 and they actually have great MPG. If you absolutely stomp on the gas, I average ~16-18 MPG. When I am giving it a little extra gas here and there, I get about 18-19, and when I'm driving like a normal motorist, which is very hard to do with a car like this, I get about 20-24. Keep in mind, this is all in a semi-populated city. I rarely drive on the highway, but when I do, Ford is right-on with their 31 MPG with the automatic. I have even got higher.
Never thought I'd see a 300+ horsepower V6 from Ford or GM, but they have both done it... I just hope to God, Allah, Buddha and Thor that they don't phase out the beloved V8. The V6s are great, but they just don't sound like the V8, no matter what kind of exhaust you throw at 'em... Now Imports can't use "you beat me 'cause you have a V8" excuse anymore.
@NedacFilms Same here. I'm sorry but I always thought that a Mustang V8 sounded beautiful and had loads of potential. Plus, who can seriously say that they'd have a 2.4L 4Cyl from a Honda or Nissan instead of a 4.6, 5.0, or 5.4 from a V8? Still weird that their new V6 is the same size as Nissans new V6
@Metalhead852 Actually the original Duratec v6 engines were partly a Porsche design. Ford and Porsche were both working on similar v6 projects back in the early 90's and Porsche sold there "input" to Ford. That brought the 2.5 and 3.0. The 3.5 was a redesign by Ford of the engine for 2006 vehicles and the 3.7 was a bored out version of the 3.5 and was used only in some Lincolns the past few years until the 2011 Mustang. Now the 4 cilinders are a different story.
@2011mustang5O its crazy huh? Ford is at the top! And 2.9 (approx) billions to show for it.... Since I was 16 yrs old back in 1987 I've been an equal fan of GM and Ford. I've owned quite a few Camaros-Firebirds and Mustang GTs and love them all... but the past couple years, and through this bail-out crisis I've leaned towards Ford.
