Thanks it answered my question by showing actual tyre indentation. I am using a trek hybrid and wanted to make sure it was connected correctly, slight adjustment tomorrow morning and I will be happier. Glad to see the unit supports the rider with out of the seat riding. Thanks again :o)
@ichibanhahn Because the tire actually heats up faster then when on the road which in turns wares the tire out more. which is why they make a trainer specific tire (which you dont need or have to use), which is made out of a different kind of material (still rubber just a harder compound i do believe) to last longer and stay cooler. Hope i helped.

You can minimize tire wear by checking the following:
PSI - Make sure your tire is inflated to the psi recommended by the tire manufacturer.
Tire clamp pressure - should see a small dent in the tire when riding, no slippage when doing fast accelerations.
Making sure the flywheel and the tire are clean.

@CycleOpsPowerCycling Is it okay to use the included skewer for outdoor riding?

@Sammyfest Yes. Absolutely.

Tires generally build up much more heat on a trainer than on the road and so wear more quickly.

how exactly does a tire wear down faster on a trainer than on the road? that sounds opposite of what i would have assumed
