best guess...

The story takes place during the Liberian Civil War in between the late 1980's and early 1990's. Raiden then was taken under Solidus (who also hones an eypatch), to do some dirty work...

...Thats if you guys acually bothered dreading through the long cut-scenes of MGS2. Wikipedia "Raiden (Metal Gear)".

i don't think it's Raiden, because he told his family that he'll take care of his family and stop fighting..... there are hundreds of characters in mgs, the story is not all about snake, for example, SUNNY the little girl is grown up and becomes a soldier/ninja, there infinite ideas for MGS to continue...... i mean think about it, any body fro mgs could continue the story, or there could be a new character...

Definitely going to need to be Pre-MGS4 because of the Guns of the Patriots system failing making all guns in the world useless. And, once all old original mgs characters fade away the Metal gear will die. Take Raiden for example he was new and everybody thought he was gay and hated him to the the core

I think what Hideo kojima is trying to say is that Japanese developers don't have to copy western companies to make wetsern-friendly games.

For example, no need to change a survival-horror game to a third person shooter (*cough*RE5*cough*) for the sake of "modern" western tastes.

I'm excited for Kojima's next project, but I also want a new MGS and ZOE game made by him.

btw, if Raiden is the hero of the next Metal Gear game, why is it called MGS and not MGR?

i think your wrong. What Hideo is saying is that he wants 2 make a japanese style game with western style technology. I meen,, right now the west and europe are dominating the game market. I think hideo is smart for watching the progress of the western market an there unique ideas. He learns from it an in turn creates somthing fresh for the metalgearsolid series, or any other game he will be making.
