@LedZeppelinGuy6880 Hey, thanks for watching. On May 4, 1969 I was a sophomore in high school and was wearing my NROTC uniform that day. I remember sitting in classes that day wishing I would strip off my uniform and march naked to the flag pole where I would lower Old Glory to half mast to mourn the shooting deaths of the Kent State students and to protest the horrible wrongdoing on the part of the trigger happy National Guardsmen.
@desertjournalonline Hey man. Any form of rebellion would have been appropriate as long as it was directed as respect and to mourn the 4 Kent State students who were shot down for no reason. Why is it that the people who are supposed to be protecting the citizens of the US murder young college students who could have really helped the world?
@LedZeppelinGuy6880 I guess you might have to say that their sacrifice to trigger happy henchmen cast a huge spotlight on the civil unrest. In my town of Albuquerque, protesters overturned police cars and burned them in Roosevelt Park.
@desertjournalonline That's like right on protesting, like showing the man he can't go around sending trigger happy henchmen to kill college kids. I would have loved to have participated in such protesting.
Naw, I think my strings are out of tune. I'm reading the music right from the Neil Young song book. But I also know I'm a nerd when it comes to playing guitar.
No, but the doctor yesterday told me that I may have an occasional drink in a few months if my treatment for Hep C is successful. So far so good. I recently bought a St. Pat's Day hat that has inscribed on it, "Designated Drunk." I wear it so I don't have to explain to people what vertigo is about (the result of a completely deaf right ear and ringing of the ears) because they'll just say, "Oh, you're just drunk and making excuses!"
If you're so good, why don't you have any instructional videos to show this poor deaf guy how to play a decent guitar? And I doubt NY would punch anyone in the face, he's known throughout the universe as a prolific peacenik. I'm sure he would show compassion instead of hatred for the playing members of his fan club, including me.
Study and practice make perfect, but being more than half deaf and naturally spastic, I doubt I get much better no matter how much effort I put into it.
Nice guitar, sounds great. In the info section of this video, it says that this song is an 'anti-war' song. I don't see how it is anti-war, more anti-Nixon.
The song Ohio is about the four students of Kent State who were killed by National Guardsmen during a war protest on campus in May 1970. So really, it's against Nixon and the war.
I just have a couple minor suggestions, first and foremost you should invest in a guitar tuner.... second you should always, *always* remember to take your brain pills, then invest more time practising. and if all else fails that guitar will make a nice decoration in the living room! cheers!
Yes, it was May 1970 when I was a sophomore in high school and wearing the Navy JR. ROTC program uniform and when students at my school wanted to lower the flag at half mast to mourn the Kent State Four, I wanted to strip off my uniform and join them, but it never happened (the flag coming down, that is).
Today is the Ohio primary and everyone there who's a Democrat needs to get out and vote for Kucinich for Congress, especially since the GOP has infiltrated your ranks and will give you the candidate who is NOT your choice.
I'm not flip-flopping. I'm still with Obama but the Democrats still need to get off that junk corporate food and listen to the people. We want a partnership in our government, otherwise, we should NOT have to contribute to the Bush & Cheney Country Club for the Rich for the next 4, 8 or 12 bloody more years.
I don't know whether I've pitched for the Kucinich campaign here yet, but I will now. Folks, Dennis needs our help and if you'd go to his channel or his website (do a search, it's easy) make sure you share his video and mark it as a favorite and rate and comment on it, then send him a much needed donation so he continue serving all Americans, plus his Ohio district, in the House.
As far as the Neil Young cover, Bill, you continue to outdo yourself and yes your timing is impeccable. Keep up the soulful work! Power to the people!!!
We can only hope the future of the United States and the "free world" does not once again rest in the hands of people who are fearful and therefore ignorant and as such a danger in the voting booth. So, Ohio, in short, pull your head out of your arse and vote for Obama and love dark people all over the world. Remember the closer you get to the equator the closer you get to God.
Many of "my people" live in Ohio and I love them dearly. Literally, I have friends and family from Cleveland to Dayton from Columbus to Youngstown, from Cincinnati to Akron and while they are all intelligent wonderful people I am very afraid my experience has led me to believe the Buckeye State suffers from an over all cast of ignorance and myopia.
My grandma was born and raised in Ohio, I think in or around Cincinnati, but I've never been there. I also have friends there but I've lost contact. Cheers to Ohio!
I agree, timely indeed. The Democratic primary is at its peek and the good people of Ohio and Texas will be determining who will be the next president. These indeed are very exciting times. And all eyes will be focused in on these two states tomorrow. I don't think Nader's advent is a bad thing - he'll interject and infuse the issues of huge corporate subsidies and Jeffersonian Democracy back into the election process. This might make Obama or Clinton come out squeaky clean by denouncing ties.
I agree. If the GOP wins, we'll know for sure they've been rigging elections consistently since 2000. But I don't think they have a chance in hell this time.
I don't think we'll have to worry about Hillary after tomorrow's election in Texas and Ohio. However, I would have to opt for Hillary over McCain if that's the way it goes down. But I really think it's Obama all the way now. This has been the most exciting election I've ever seen. People are so ready for it.
Will they be doing paper ballots there tomorrow? I guess it doesn't matter until the general election in November. In New Mexico, a recount must be made in the event of a close race, according to a new law passed by our legislature.
Hey man. That was awesome. I hope to one day play this song at my school on drums with a friend on guitar on May 4 in the future.
