  • This video shows that the TWR Jags would have been as competitive @ Bathurst in 1986 had they raced as they were in 1985 despite any lack of development since late 1984.

  • Starion ESi-R babyyyyyy

  • You Gotta love the old Group A days.

  • I remember Channel 7 in Sydney showing this race. Brocky sticking it to the Jags,Gricey 3-wheeling into the pits during the wet. And, if I'm not mistaken, Brad Jones is in a Starion (not the leading Starion N# 2, but in Car N# 5). Does anyone know where, if possible, I can get this race on DVD?

  • Peter Brock and Alan Grice representing Australia in the good old VK V8's eh.... who would have known. Good stuff.

  • haha i dont think thos 6 cylinder jaguars were in the right race =/

not fair for my poor starion gettin beat by a 60,000 dollar car =[

  • V12's, I think.

  • That is one cool video, it has Starions, which i love and Commodores, that you can't help but respect for their performance on the world stage. Great stuff.

  • The Starions did very well on the touring car seen untill the Sierria cosworth was fully developed. I was driven by Dave Brodie in his British touring car Starion around goodwood in around 1987 and it was very impressive.

  • Volvo's!? Man those 240's couldn't have done good against the japanese cars xD

  • WOOOOW

  • Awesome. I love this era!! Also DTM of the late 80's.

  • Im sorry (someone most likely already said this but what group is this and what division is it part of.

  • check out peter brock in the carby fed 5 litre v8 giving it to the jags!!

  • Jesus fuck, how many cars started that race?

  • No cosworth sierras here they wern't homologated till 1987. Starions were really unreliable in group a, and a Rs500 is not 4wd.

  • I just gained so much repsect for jags and starions!

  • thankyou for sharing! international grp.A was the best! especially '86-'90. thankyou!

  • Is that a VK Commodore in the land of the rising sun back then. It was a great V8 touring race car. They love Aussie cars just as we love Jap cars. LOL. Starion's will never be as good as a Ford RS500 Cosworth, both have 4 cyl engines.

  • yeah they're all here twr with their jags brocky and gricey with thir commadores and a shed load of nissans and starions and i can see a 635csi and a 240 turbo. it's one big grp a party.

  • Starion was let down by it's primitive SOHC engine and single point fuel injection. Cossie had 50 more hp, same weight and 4wd advantage. If the starion had those assets it would be a different story. Considering it doesn't have all that and still managed to keep the ford on it's toes I'd say it's a pretty good car.

  • Both engines has its own potential, but Mitsu have been always famous for its reliable, bullettproof engines.

Anyway at that time, Ford used Mazda Technologies as well (Auto Alliance Inc. formerly known as MMUC) for the engine developments.

  • since when was a sierra rs500 cosworth 4wd

  • Since the day they rolled off the production line

  • Only the escort cosworth and sierria saphire cosworth were 4wd i should know ive had 4 of them

  • Were talking about the rs500 here, not escorts or sapphire sierras.

  • exactly!!!

  • You're a muslim, so what do you know?

  • dude ur from norway probly still drivin a sleigh with wolves pulling it

  • Oh, no, we live in the civilized world here in the west, not the muslim world.

Good luck on drifting with your camels, muslimun!

  • actualy im from the u.k, and since when was norway civilized? u guys still wiping ur arse with snow after u take a shit

  • Cosworth was a subsidiary of Ford for a very short time, it was independent in the beggining and the Technology division was briefly owned by Volkswagen and is now part of Mahle GmbH.

RS500 Cosworth engine intruduced at '87 so it not was a YB engine! in this race.

Starion had a 4G63BT based 12V Sirius Dash engine that in this racing formule has 350 rwHP, at this time there were a 4WD/4WS version as well, but unfortunately they used them in the Rally seasons only...

  • Yay! Mitsubishi Starion Turbo!!!!

  • Racing aint like it used to be eh. Go Starions! lol

  • Excellent video....go the Aussie power...5.0litre V8 Commodore. We had great racing in Australia in the mid 80's, and in Japan as I have just found out!

  • Holden Commodore

  • XJS was and will be the best:) Nice video! Good luck!
