@ManoKiaule well id rather have a graphics card thats better for the next generation of games (dx11) then have the ati cards that arent that great at it, like in metro 2033. Thats a game that the 480 and 470 really show there true power. with the tesselation and all the dx11. it outperforms the 5870 and 5970 in games lke that. so id rather have a card thats newer and more future proof. And ive never had a problem with nvidia or ati.
True power? Also it shows a lot of watt usage, 95C degrees in full load which is...... and all this for what price??? the GTX 470 is a joke at that price, it's even worse than a HD 5850 in a benchmarking.

Yeah this make a card where you need an 800wat psu costs £1200 and is extremely noisy with a retarted delta fan and will barely outperform a 5870 yeah sounds great
@darknesh99 thats completly untrue ati and nvidia trade off generations lol. obviously you've never herd of the 9800 pro lol. or the 3xxx series. its really no big deal. to me i wouldn't wanna water cool my system as its a freaking hassle to replace the fluid monthly. besides why do i need to spend an extra 100 bucks to cool a card when the stock fan should at least keep it 50c idle lol
@S1lverspike You don't know anything about liquid cooling, that much is apparent. Liquid cooling does not require much maintenance except once every few years. As for PhyX, its quite beneficial when used in certain applications and games. It largely offsets the tasks and resources that would otherwise be keeping the CPU busy thus giving the CPU more opportunity to handle other tasks with its freed up resources.
@CobraGMW2 no clue what rubbish you're trying to say about stolen ideas. what it really comes down to is that ATI is back at the top for the past year and a half since they released the high end 4 series card based on bang for the buck comparison. and again they are on top. so lets how things go.
@CobraGMW2 so did vw with opel parts. further a lil trickin of making vw appear delicious in times when banks have no more paper to lend and schwupps! they own "porsch".
the 5650 requires a 400 watt or higher power supply. the 5670 requires a 450 watt power supply or greater...
you can't really compre a 5670 to a GT 240. 5670 uses requirs a 150 watt higher power suply and is closer in performance to a 9800 GT.. or a GTX 260m wich can just barely play Crysis on Very High.
show me one card by Radeon that uses a 300 watt power suply and is better then the GT 240 wich is about 30% worse then a 9800 GT.. so you can play Crysis on High to very High on GT 240.
nvidia may not ever have something that beats ati , u can put a 5670 with 300W and work just fine but ati says more just to be sure that u get something with actually 300W a 400W psu will not be 80+
thats bull shit the minimal power requirement is all you can do. I have tried putting a Card that requires a higher Wattage and my computer shut down with thin a few minutes to save itself.
I have a 300 watt power suply... it was either get a GT 240 and play Crysis on High.. or get a Radeon card that plays it on Medium and is still laggy... hmmm this is a hard one...
Nvidia also made a new version of the 9600 GT that only needs a 300 watt power supply.
Nvidia are screwed with this series. The GTX480 is just too hot and too power hungry at a TDP of 295watts. This makes a dual Fermi card an impossibility because they cannot make a card that goes over 300watts at stock settings and there isn't very much room left for more powerful versions of the cards
Actuly the GT 300 line cards all have more Proccesing cores and require less power then the GT 200 line. they are a lot better. also the GT 300 line has DDR 5 and as far as DX 11 that is completely pointless to have. there is only one game in the world that has DX 11. and there are no Operating systems that have DX 11.
and the GT 340 can Handle Crysis on High flawlessly. I highly doubt a Radeon Card that requires a 300 watt power supply could do that.
I am very Impressed with Nvidias GT 300 line. all the GT 300 line cards only require a 300 Watt power supply. and they can have up to 96 cores making them out perform Radeons Mid Rand cards that require a 300 watt power supply by 2x.
you may not think power effiecent when you think Nvidia. but the GT 300 line is a really good buy. Radeon has nothing to compete with the GT 300 line.
ATI lacks in being able to release decent drivers for the simple fact theres so much hardware out there its hard to make it run across all platforms of videocards and the amount of combinations of hardware to have could make a conflict. Sadly this is why they were hated for the longest time, they're finally bringing some competition back though.
and there is the Geforce 300 Series which will replace hte low - mid range geforce 200 series card and the geforce 400 series to replace the high end geforce 200 cards.
haha... with ATI all of which are retarded as fuck. Read up on the complaints to do with games as old as World at War. Problems which where inherent in that are still problems in Battlefield bad company 2. At least Nvidia take time with their release... and they make sure it works.
@prettylittleditty89 ati has problems with bad company 2 because dice will not make the games shaders compatible with ati cards. dont got shit to do with the cards actually just monopolization
Read up before you talk. Nvidias 196.75 drivers were faulty and burned up video cards for many people. There are tons of complains and posts on forums... go take a look at it. Oh and major tech sites have already covered this. So dont insult the guy who wrote the original comment if you are clueless...
lol... my 4870x2 damed near burnt itself up when I first got it. Some of the complaints I read for Nvidia where temps as high as 90 with a failed fan. My 4870x2 nearly peaked 100 celcius with its excuse for a stock fan. And if you could imagine what would be worse... a driver mistake or card released after it being known to get hot.
cool story bro. Maybe you got a dud or something. Or maybe it was rated for those temps. Keywoards in your post are "damned near burnt itself up"... Well guess what .. these people cards DID burn up. Not "damn near". They DID. so gtfo clown.
Nah the first one I got was a dud... ATI took a month just to tell me what I already knew... that it was a dud... then they forgot about me. 3 months later I called up(again) and what the store did was replace it for me seeing as ATI did nothing. Like them and their driver issues. All I am saying is at least Nvidia are far more reliable then ATI; they fucked up... get over it. What ATI can bring out to retail sometimes are fuck ups on their own.
@prettylittleditty89 You act like thats how ATI operates for all products sold. You had a bad experience, but there are plenty of people who dont. And the other way around... some people have terri-bad experiences with Nvidia, and good with ATI. It just depends on your other hardware, and what your specific set up is. Any company can fuck up... i agree.
Even yourself in a previous comment suggested how unreliable ATI are when it comes to Drivers. Now seeing as there are new products, new softwares, new games everyday I would think dodgy drivers would be reason enough to snub out ATI. Problems inherent in COD world at war & MW1 seemed to made its way to the latest battlefield game. Assuming I haven never had an ATI or Nvidia card; Now if they could not even get through that.. then why would anyone, in their right mind, choose an ATI card?
@prettylittleditty89 that is your opinion. There is a million reasons to snub out Nvidia instead of ATI. ATI had terribad drivers, they are better now, but still not perfect. Nvidia on the other hand is deceptive and rebrands old parts. LAME. lies to the very customer that trusts them. Proprietary policies like Physx which hurts PC gaming instead of helping it.. Great. We can all be consolefags soon.
@NickBlackDIN If Physx was open source and ATI could use it, then a lot more developers would include it in their games ! And not just for trivial Graphics effects like it is used for now, but for actual gameplay... shocking i know. This in turn would make PC gaming have games that simply could not be run on consoles... They would be too weak for Physx effects. And because more games would feature it, PC gaming would have an Edge over consolefags.
it will be soon enough, Nvidia just want's the first slice of the cake, I'm already starting to prgram in it and I love it. so I don't think it's something that's just gonna die out. just my opinion though.
@NickBlackDIN In the mean time we will just see more and more people switch to console gaming, and in turn more AAA titles will be release for consoles. Sounds awesome right?
@NickBlackDIN If AMD's open physics initiative takes off, Physx = dead. Because if you are a dev, which you program a game that will only work on 1 company's cards, or on all cards? Which one will reach more people? Its a no brainer.. And then hopefully we will see some console people switch back to PC, and better titles for PC that are not just CONSOLE ports... frustrating as hell.
@prettylittleditty89 oh and btw a lot of nvidia users say that image quality improves after switching to ATI. So yeah... And for drivers clearly YMMV for whatever company you go with. There is also a difference between a bad driver that wont play your game, and a bad driver that will destroy your 400$ + hardware.
@sonsofHateSphere nvidia isnt the "best shit on the market" at the moment. And if their drivers are starting to suck like ATI's then there is no reason to buy then anymore.
This is the first time this happened, and Nvidia called back the driver emidiately, and e-mailed everyone (who signed up for Nvidia newsletter) about the recall, the issue, and what to do.
Some GTX470 benchies are around, and it's neck to neck with HD5870. Actually beats HD5870 in some games.
Shame on you, man. Shame on you. Let's see who lost the game.
@SonsOfHateSphere You are joking right? 1) No independent reviews out. Get that into your head. 2) Even if it is faster. Id doesnt exist if you cant buy it. Which you wont be able to for 2-3 months at the least. Yes it will be released , but expect availability to be 0. An imaginary product cant beat what is sitting in peoples computers from late 2009... 3) Yes drivers recalled. AFTER lots of cards are burned. Awesome? Shame on you for being a tool...
No joking. 1) you're right, they may be fake, though there ARE someone out there who got a Fermi in their hands. But from the unofficail (maybe fake) benchmark, the HD5870 has an avg fps of 31, and 470 of 40 fps. Sounds promising, from what else we've heard. 2) March 26th. Only 15 days left, not months. I believe Fermi will release in March, since we got pics of Fermi boxes from EVGA, Galaxy and Gigabyte. Sounds like a release near the corner.
@SonsOf 1) i dont know what you are smoking, but even the LEAKED benchmarks show GTX 480 only 5% faster than the 5870. Oh yeah and its coming HALF A YEAR late, in extremely limited quantities.
2) Burned cards are a huge Fuck up! And bumpgate was a huge fuck up too! My friend lost his 8800 mobile card, and NV did nothing to make it right. And please dont spread 5xxx series drivers bs. Provide some NUMBERS if you want to bring up stuff like that. OR do we need to talk about NV Vista drivers?
I don't know if you're a brainwashed AMD slave from Charlies KZ-camp, but one thing is for sure; what you're saying is obvious from the most infected ATi forums out there on the internet.
@SonsOfHateSphere honestly man... they lost me when they refused to stand behind their product. Every company has fuck ups, no one says anything... but at least make it right. bumpgate was lame... No one wants take responsibility. Not OEM, not Nvidia, so the customer pays. Even the damn PS3 in my house has an NV card... But being brand loyal is really stupid as i have come to see recently... So yeah from now on the best company gets my money.
@SonsOfHateSphere in case you were wondering, i have 2 laptops with 8600M GT, 1 desktop with 9800 GT, my PS3 obviously has NV graphics, and the last laptop i had had a 6600 GO. SO i guess its actually 5 cards rather than 4. But you get the idea.
LOL! That was not inspected :P Well, but I can say as much, that I've only had 2 Nvidia cards, 8500GT and GTX295 (that I still have), and that I don't miss my old ATi-days. After Radeon X1600, I gave up.
@SonsOfHateSphere I never had ATI, but im really digging the idea of Eyefinity. I wont be building a rig till 2011 so i guess we will see who will have the best card on the market then hehe. I will give ATI first consideration, b/c NV has been acting like assholes, but if NV chip is much better and offers decent price/performance i will buy it. So we will see how it goes. btw the 295 is a great set up, gaming must be awesome on that.
But your going to need a card to replace your 9800? And btw, Eyefinity is for people who need more than a 3 screens display. I'd also like to know why Nvidia has been acting like assholes, cause for me, it seems that Nvidia keep 'emselfs out of troubles.
@SonsOfHateSphere Yeah im planning to get my gf to buy me an extra monitor or two :D. But wont happen for a while like i said as the 9800GT is still pretty much doing its job. :P
So your 9800 survived the damn driver, anyway? Nevermind, I don't got a problem if you're going to buy ATi. But I have a problem when people ditches Nvidia for fake romours, and "over-priced products". Yeees, you pay more $ per fps with Nvidia, but then you miss the good stuff like CUDA, PhysX (don't mention hacked ATi drivers), Flash Player 10.1, and what else they're making to the GPU instead of the good 'ol CPU.
Make your choice, for your needs, man. You're a good guy, after all ;)
Yes my 9800GT dodged the bullet. The temps were hot, but no damage, i think we caught it just in time. (me and my bro share the PC). Anyway... Deus Ex 3 is coming out... eagerly waiting for it now..
@ManoKiaule Yeah, sorry for that one. Some of that info you brought to the discussion is typically legit info from semiaccurate(dot)com, better know as the Nvidia hater, Charlie. For God sake don't trust that man! He's real propaganda, and a pain in the ass.
@SonsOfHateSphere honestly physx is a scam to get ppl to buy another high priced card as it really doesnt inhance the game much more than havok (which is much more popular btw) also the 480 had to have its magnificient cuda stream gpus clocked down from 512 to 480 just to get the damn thing not to melt. you tell me what went wrong with this card. it could have been so much better but the sad fact is its not
3) I feel sorry for those who lost their cards because of an update. Though, only A FEW cards burned. Now, Nvidia are aware of a failure like that, so don't expect it will happen again.
Don't get bitchy and hate Nvidia. I know you're upset, but shit happens for ATi as well. There're more people who has nothing else but trouble with their brand new HD5000, than suffered from Nvidia's 196.75.
i think they should change all that shit fermi, cuda, physx and bla bla bla bollocks and try to refresh the world of graphics with something like nvidia Voodoo 480 :P
To bad ATI will come out with the 5890 to compete and then the 6000 series cards soon, and they've got most of the market. They beat Nvidia this time.
Hello there, I would like to say that the G300 name is used even before the G200 series. It have been existing on a few laptops for a very long time. That is the reason why we will not get any news of anything named GTX300. I'm suggesting you to check it out yourself, because i'm not able to tell everything.
ive tried Badaboom (CUDA application for video encoding), , i was getting 130FPS with 8800GTS, if the future nvidia cards gurantee 500+ frames, ill start saving and probly will buy one.
Creative did that with their Audigy 2 to 4 series. I'm guessing their rebranded GeForce 200 under the guise of 300's were to sate some kind of justification on their part.
I'm guessing this move was done because the 400 are lacking, makes sense really in terms of marketing, as most people will see this and go 'WHOA 400 series out NOW?!'
With regards to the model numbers you may remember back in December Nvidia launched a low end Geforce 300 series card (GF 310) however that's only DX10.1 not DX11.
To avoid a misunderstanding I reckon Nvidia want all of their DX11 compatible cards to have their own number range.
If you remember back in the Ti4200 days there was confusion about what cards could handle the latest DirectX, it looks like Nvidia have learnt their lesson and don't want to repeat that mistake.
It seems you are right and the 300 series are for dx 10.1 and 400 will be dx11. Completely agree back with the TI 4200, i do remember a lot of confusion and people ended up buying the wrong cards to what they actually wanted/needed.
I hear that the GTX 270 will be a more affordable card, but how do you think that will compare to the GTX 280 ? Is it worth waiting or should I just go for the GTX 280 ? NOTE: I am not in a rush.
Personally i would wait to see the new cards come out, as i believe they will be quite expensive so we should see the older generation cards drop in price.
Do they usually give these "fun fact for the weeks"? Maybe they are going to give out info week by week to create hype. Like next week give out official specs. The following week maybe a bench. The week after that some price points. Until the card is officially released. Maybe?
yo people out there stop talking about wattages.. you got no money thats your problem! stupid newbs go buy voodoo 1 than

@CobraGMW2 no clue what rubbish you're trying to say about stolen ideas. what it really comes down to is that ATI is back at the top for the past year and a half since they released the high end 4 series card based on bang for the buck comparison. and again they are on top. so lets how things go.

I don't even think of Radeon as power efficient anymore... they lost it when they made the 5000 line.
I used to like Nvidia for their Enthusiast GPU's.. and Radeon for its Mid range GPU's. but now the companies are switching roles.
Nomad2243 1 year ago
all i've gathered from reading these first 10 comments is that you are retarded, nomad2234.
reviews show the 5670 consistently beating (albeit only slightly) the gt 240, and using less power.
ati are clearly overstating the required wattage psu to cover their ass for people who try to run their cards on horrible psu's.
not to mention the gtx480 will be a hot running, power hungry piece of 6 month late silicon, that won't produce a much better result than the hd5870.
awregorwegergergerht 1 year ago
the 5650 requires a 400 watt or higher power supply. the 5670 requires a 450 watt power supply or greater...
you can't really compre a 5670 to a GT 240. 5670 uses requirs a 150 watt higher power suply and is closer in performance to a 9800 GT.. or a GTX 260m wich can just barely play Crysis on Very High.
show me one card by Radeon that uses a 300 watt power suply and is better then the GT 240 wich is about 30% worse then a 9800 GT.. so you can play Crysis on High to very High on GT 240.
Nomad2243 1 year ago
The Radeon 5670 requires a 400 watt power supply vs the GT 340 and the new GT 240 which require a 300 Watt power supply.
Radeon is more Power hungry then Nvidia these days. Nvidia actualy has way better mid range cards.
and Nvidia will soon have the best Enthusiast cards out... so Radeon just fails.
Nomad2243 1 year ago
you mom failed
JUSTBOLTONS 1 year ago
nvidia may not ever have something that beats ati , u can put a 5670 with 300W and work just fine but ati says more just to be sure that u get something with actually 300W a 400W psu will not be 80+
TheMRamstaff 1 year ago
thats bull shit the minimal power requirement is all you can do.
Nvidia also made a new version of the 9600 GT that only needs a 300 watt power supply.
they made all of their old cards better
Nomad2243 1 year ago
Nvidia are screwed with this series. The GTX480 is just too hot and too power hungry at a TDP of 295watts. This makes a dual Fermi card an impossibility because they cannot make a card that goes over 300watts at stock settings and there isn't very much room left for more powerful versions of the cards
sharpshot64 1 year ago
Actuly the GT 300 line cards all have more Proccesing cores and require less power then the GT 200 line. they are a lot better. also the GT 300 line has DDR 5 and as far as DX 11 that is completely pointless to have. there is only one game in the world that has DX 11. and there are no Operating systems that have DX 11.
and the GT 340 can Handle Crysis on High flawlessly. I highly doubt a Radeon Card that requires a 300 watt power supply could do that.
GT 340 is 2x as powerful as 9600 GT.
Nomad2243 1 year ago
@Nomad2243
go to the nvidia page and compare the gt340 to the gt240
they're 100% identical from the amount of cores till the frequency and the minimum power requierment is the same
and the max powerconsumption of the gt340 is 69W(only gpu). the 5670 has 61W
and it's not 2X as powerfull as a 9600gt
they're on the same level.
the gt240/340 is max 10% faster the only good thing is the reduced power consumption from 96 to 69watt "no Operating systems that have DX 11"
are you completly retarded?

I am very Impressed with Nvidias GT 300 line. all the GT 300 line cards only require a 300 Watt power supply. and they can have up to 96 cores making them out perform Radeons Mid Rand cards that require a 300 watt power supply by 2x.
you may not think power effiecent when you think Nvidia. but the GT 300 line is a really good buy. Radeon has nothing to compete with the GT 300 line.
Nomad2243 2 years ago
@Nomad2243
the gt 300 line is 100% identical to the gt 200 line.
those cards are exactly the same just with a new name
and they suck
the gt340 is a fast as a 9600gt
and amd has enough cards to compete with the gt 300 line
a hd 5670 costs as much as a gt240(gt 340) while it's 15% faster + sm5 and dx11 support at the same power requirement
and beside that the gt300 line is OEM so you will only get those cards if you buy a 1000€ alienware pc or other overprice bullshit

Robearwgl 2 years ago
ATI lacks in being able to release decent drivers for the simple fact theres so much hardware out there its hard to make it run across all platforms of videocards and the amount of combinations of hardware to have could make a conflict. Sadly this is why they were hated for the longest time, they're finally bringing some competition back though.

Read up before you talk. Nvidias 196.75 drivers were faulty and burned up video cards for many people. There are tons of complains and posts on forums... go take a look at it. Oh and major tech sites have already covered this. So dont insult the guy who wrote the original comment if you are clueless...
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
@ManoKiaule yeah so it is a problem, does this tell it can only happen with nvidia?
mennie123 2 years ago
@ManoKiaule
lol... my 4870x2 damed near burnt itself up when I first got it. Some of the complaints I read for Nvidia where temps as high as 90 with a failed fan. My 4870x2 nearly peaked 100 celcius with its excuse for a stock fan. And if you could imagine what would be worse... a driver mistake or card released after it being known to get hot.
prettylittleditty89 2 years ago
cool story bro. Maybe you got a dud or something. Or maybe it was rated for those temps. Keywoards in your post are "damned near burnt itself up"... Well guess what .. these people cards DID burn up. Not "damn near". They DID. so gtfo clown.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
Nah the first one I got was a dud... ATI took a month just to tell me what I already knew... that it was a dud... then they forgot about me. 3 months later I called up(again) and what the store did was replace it for me seeing as ATI did nothing. Like them and their driver issues. All I am saying is at least Nvidia are far more reliable then ATI; they fucked up... get over it. What ATI can bring out to retail sometimes are fuck ups on their own.
prettylittleditty89 2 years ago
@prettylittleditty89 You act like thats how ATI operates for all products sold. You had a bad experience, but there are plenty of people who dont. And the other way around... some people have terri-bad experiences with Nvidia, and good with ATI. It just depends on your other hardware, and what your specific set up is. Any company can fuck up... i agree.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
Even yourself in a previous comment suggested how unreliable ATI are when it comes to Drivers. Now seeing as there are new products, new softwares, new games everyday I would think dodgy drivers would be reason enough to snub out ATI. Problems inherent in COD world at war & MW1 seemed to made its way to the latest battlefield game. Assuming I haven never had an ATI or Nvidia card; Now if they could not even get through that.. then why would anyone, in their right mind, choose an ATI card?
prettylittleditty89 2 years ago
@prettylittleditty89 that is your opinion. There is a million reasons to snub out Nvidia instead of ATI. ATI had terribad drivers, they are better now, but still not perfect. Nvidia on the other hand is deceptive and rebrands old parts. LAME. lies to the very customer that trusts them. Proprietary policies like Physx which hurts PC gaming instead of helping it.. Great. We can all be consolefags soon.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
can you explain how Physx hurts gaming please?
NickBlackDIN 2 years ago
@NickBlackDIN If Physx was open source and ATI could use it, then a lot more developers would include it in their games ! And not just for trivial Graphics effects like it is used for now, but for actual gameplay... shocking i know. This in turn would make PC gaming have games that simply could not be run on consoles... They would be too weak for Physx effects. And because more games would feature it, PC gaming would have an Edge over consolefags.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
it will be soon enough, Nvidia just want's the first slice of the cake, I'm already starting to prgram in it and I love it. so I don't think it's something that's just gonna die out. just my opinion though.
NickBlackDIN 2 years ago
@NickBlackDIN In the mean time we will just see more and more people switch to console gaming, and in turn more AAA titles will be release for consoles. Sounds awesome right?
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
NOoo!! that's horrid!! Console's are fine for some games, but personally PC still kicks butt in most of the ganera's. (with the acception of the Wii)
NickBlackDIN 2 years ago
@NickBlackDIN If AMD's open physics initiative takes off, Physx = dead. Because if you are a dev, which you program a game that will only work on 1 company's cards, or on all cards? Which one will reach more people? Its a no brainer.. And then hopefully we will see some console people switch back to PC, and better titles for PC that are not just CONSOLE ports... frustrating as hell.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
@prettylittleditty89 oh and btw a lot of nvidia users say that image quality improves after switching to ATI. So yeah... And for drivers clearly YMMV for whatever company you go with. There is also a difference between a bad driver that wont play your game, and a bad driver that will destroy your 400$ + hardware.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
Because of a fucking driver issue you will never buy Nvidia again?
You are... unbelieable stupid.
I know the driver fried your card, and that's sad. But that's not a reason to boycot the best shit on the market? :)
And now Nvidia is aware of that type of fails. It could happen to ATi as well.
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
@sonsofHateSphere nvidia isnt the "best shit on the market" at the moment. And if their drivers are starting to suck like ATI's then there is no reason to buy then anymore.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
This is the first time this happened, and Nvidia called back the driver emidiately, and e-mailed everyone (who signed up for Nvidia newsletter) about the recall, the issue, and what to do.
Some GTX470 benchies are around, and it's neck to neck with HD5870. Actually beats HD5870 in some games.
Shame on you, man. Shame on you. Let's see who lost the game.
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
@SonsOfHateSphere You are joking right? 1) No independent reviews out. Get that into your head. 2) Even if it is faster. Id doesnt exist if you cant buy it. Which you wont be able to for 2-3 months at the least. Yes it will be released , but expect availability to be 0. An imaginary product cant beat what is sitting in peoples computers from late 2009... 3) Yes drivers recalled. AFTER lots of cards are burned. Awesome? Shame on you for being a tool...
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
ManoKiaule 2 years ago

ManoKiaule 2 years ago
Well, that's more Nvidia cards that I've owned, and now you're leaving 'em? Jesus, man.
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
@SonsOfHateSphere honestly man... they lost me when they refused to stand behind their product. Every company has fuck ups, no one says anything... but at least make it right. bumpgate was lame... No one wants take responsibility. Not OEM, not Nvidia, so the customer pays. Even the damn PS3 in my house has an NV card... But being brand loyal is really stupid as i have come to see recently... So yeah from now on the best company gets my money.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
@SonsOfHateSphere in case you were wondering, i have 2 laptops with 8600M GT, 1 desktop with 9800 GT, my PS3 obviously has NV graphics, and the last laptop i had had a 6600 GO. SO i guess its actually 5 cards rather than 4. But you get the idea.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
LOL! That was not inspected :P Well, but I can say as much, that I've only had 2 Nvidia cards, 8500GT and GTX295 (that I still have), and that I don't miss my old ATi-days. After Radeon X1600, I gave up.
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
@SonsOfHateSphere I never had ATI, but im really digging the idea of Eyefinity. I wont be building a rig till 2011 so i guess we will see who will have the best card on the market then hehe. I will give ATI first consideration, b/c NV has been acting like assholes, but if NV chip is much better and offers decent price/performance i will buy it. So we will see how it goes. btw the 295 is a great set up, gaming must be awesome on that.
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
It is! i7 and GTX295 is a dreaming set up ;)
But your going to need a card to replace your 9800? And btw, Eyefinity is for people who need more than a 3 screens display. I'd also like to know why Nvidia has been acting like assholes, cause for me, it seems that Nvidia keep 'emselfs out of troubles.
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
@SonsOfHateSphere Yeah im planning to get my gf to buy me an extra monitor or two :D. But wont happen for a while like i said as the 9800GT is still pretty much doing its job. :P
ManoKiaule 2 years ago
So your 9800 survived the damn driver, anyway? Nevermind, I don't got a problem if you're going to buy ATi. But I have a problem when people ditches Nvidia for fake romours, and "over-priced products". Yeees, you pay more $ per fps with Nvidia, but then you miss the good stuff like CUDA, PhysX (don't mention hacked ATi drivers), Flash Player 10.1, and what else they're making to the GPU instead of the good 'ol CPU.
Make your choice, for your needs, man. You're a good guy, after all ;)
SonsOfHateSphere 2 years ago
Yes my 9800GT dodged the bullet. The temps were hot, but no damage, i think we caught it just in time. (me and my bro share the PC). Anyway... Deus Ex 3 is coming out... eagerly waiting for it now..

@SonsOfHateSphere honestly physx is a scam to get ppl to buy another high priced card as it really doesnt inhance the game much more than havok (which is much more popular btw) also the 480 had to have its magnificient cuda stream gpus clocked down from 512 to 480 just to get the damn thing not to melt. you tell me what went wrong with this card. it could have been so much better but the sad fact is its not
S1lverspike 1 year ago
3) I feel sorry for those who lost their cards because of an update. Though, only A FEW cards burned. Now, Nvidia are aware of a failure like that, so don't expect it will happen again.
Don't get bitchy and hate Nvidia. I know you're upset, but shit happens for ATi as well. There're more people who has nothing else but trouble with their brand new HD5000, than suffered from Nvidia's 196.75.

AntiStupidity 2 years ago
Thats not the model numbers thats the price. lol
scalliwagg 2 years ago
With regards to the model numbers you may remember back in December Nvidia launched a low end Geforce 300 series card (GF 310) however that's only DX10.1 not DX11.
To avoid a misunderstanding I reckon Nvidia want all of their DX11 compatible cards to have their own number range.
If you remember back in the Ti4200 days there was confusion about what cards could handle the latest DirectX, it looks like Nvidia have learnt their lesson and don't want to repeat that mistake.
Freddie1980 2 years ago 3
It seems you are right and the 300 series are for dx 10.1 and 400 will be dx11. Completely agree back with the TI 4200, i do remember a lot of confusion and people ended up buying the wrong cards to what they actually wanted/needed.
