Go get some sort of wireless adapter and install it on the car then get your iphone connected directly to that adapter. I think that could work. Just a wild guess...I'm not a pro I just have a bit of experience on remote control stuffs.

How bout using an iPad to control and stream video from a camera mounted on the rc? A modded iPhone would make a great rc cam.

...probably contains his laptop. As their other video says, the laptop is given all the input, it's then linked to the phone through wifi which allows him to control the car. :)
