My son and his girlfriend went to Glastonbury and I told them beforehand to make sure they heard Leonard. They hadn't really heard of him they said!! Anyway they were right up at the stage and said he was absolutely brilliant and was the best performance :) I had goosebumps when they said it!
this rocked my soul, always has - but on the pyramid stage with the sun setting. for me my best ever gig, including some whoppers. thanks for the recording.... im waiting for someone to dig out the magical "don't stop, dont ever stop" ending. We were blessed to be there.
Amy Winehouse take note, this is how it is done. Not an incoherent warbling, but true artistry. So much for the younger generation, take lessons from a seventy year old genius.
Let Leonard put aside any notion that age hinders creativity ... there are a lot of cool and sensitive septuagenarians dancing, singing, playing, recording and creating on the surface of our planet, from the core of our universe ...
fantastic, well done, can`t thank you enough for catching this amazing guy doing his stuff, you deserve a massive medal, polar1one for prime minister i say
this the most amazing performance I have ever had the privilage to witness live. He looked genuine taken aback by the reception he got, bowing and tipping his hat to us as he went along. A true gent. What a king!
My mother had breakfast with him in Manchester about a week prior to this, she said he was so humble and gratious she fell in love with him on the spot. He had yoghurt and museli, capuccino and devilled eggs! :)
He was genuinely worried that he might be booed off stage or humiliated. He is an old man, and he has been forced into one last hurrah by circumstances, into a world he no longer recongises, singing about themes few care about anymore or can relate to. He was mighty concerned that the world wouldn't 'get him' and that he would embarrass himself. I can safely say he didn't. In fact, if anything, he gained a new legion of fans. I hope he sees this as a rebirth and starts recording again!
ever thought he may have just shot himself on to a stage that young people might thnk "what the fuck is she singing about, gotta look into this ", but i hear what your saying,
well, that is not correct mr/ms bbc, leonard did not agree to be filmed, there are only a few photos there - so to say 'full set available to watch' is completely untrue
Thank you for posting this and for capturing such a mesmerizing performance. I didn't really know that much of Leonard Cohen before Glasto but sat transfixed, with tears running down my face for the whole set. This made the festival for me.
I cried my eyes out through this...the man is a legend...a soundtrack to my lifetime. I was privileged to be there. Humble, lyrical poet and humble...Amy Shitehouse needs to take a leaf out of his book. Brat slag she is.
what a guy!

I have only two musical heroes. Tom Waites and this man. A legend & possibly the coolest septuagenarian alive!

Totally agree CheekyB I would throw The blue Nile and make a trio. Paul Buchanan makes up the 3rd man than can make an old man greet!!

is that why he would not let them put it on the TV? I thought that was a shame. Only a complete moron would boo him

Leonard Cohen is a living legend.....
73 years old, (back at work 'cos he had $5milion stolen), - and he still has the power to turn a rock gig into a Cathederal.
He can still take you with him spiritually, to places you've never been to before.
Marvellous Magical, Wonderful stuff.....
