@stsh1 Actually, where the man that chalks the nose gear is standing, is actually just outside the ingestion zone, so he is safe, but yes, it is extremely dangerous to go too near the engines. Just a couple years ago,there was a plane mechanic in El Paso, TX that got sucked into a Continental Airlines Boeing 737 engine.
You usually have to go to one week training in the airline's hub city which consists of a couple tests and some actual work on the ramp. The good thing is that the training is paid and the airline provides you with a hotel room.
Man I'm from KC and I have been trying to land a job at the airport for a while now. I just want to be around airplanes.

@Capidiego1 That's the jetway bell. It just warns people that the jetway is in motion, so that people don't stand near it.
