My brother who served in 'Nam told me that TOD=accurate portrayal/his military service so it turned me onto the show. Ma' never let me ask him about his experiences & after my own service, I didn't need 2. Whatever I experienced=nothing compared w/his.

I never imagined Axel Rose did the guitar work on this beautiful song.

When this series ran on CBS, they always interrupted this closing theme with some promotional voice over, it used to drive me crazy. It is so nice to hear this with no interruptions!

It was performed/written by Joseph Conlan, and was never released for public consumption other than in the series. Very haunting, shame it was not released. The only way is to record the music from the DVD...

to add more info, this specific song was never released to the public, Joseph Conlan states the official name is Tour of Duty EC, because that's how BMI registered the song name, he also said he have a 58 seconds sample of this song but that is not available to any media.

@justmedick Plus, the show's ratings were down. CBS moved it to Saturdays at 9PM for season 3, putting it in direct competition with "The Golden Girls" and "Empty Nest" on NBC. I really think that if "Tour of Duty" stuck with the form it had in the first season (placing more emphasis on the historical impact of the Vietnam War rather than just thrills, chills, and spills,) it would have been on longer.
