I can't believe you didn't make a Chaucer comparison. I heard this rant at LEAST five times from Kevin and Canterbury Tales almost always was the next beloved work attacked.
@capnallegra@capnallegra Yes, Chaucer was also enragingly unsuccessful. However, his incomplete work is still a landmark achievement in early english literature. Also, he does have several advantages over our pal Terry, both in terms of personality and historical impact:
- Without Chaucer we would not have Heath Ledger in the wonderful adaptation of "The Knight's Tale".
- Chaucer could be in a 3 legged race without cheating.
- Chaucer could put up more of a fight against Magneto.

@annexdshow Sorry internet, apparently only half of the Annex'd team knows that it was Paul Bettany who played Chaucer in A Knight's Tale.
