In a project for the Hunger Games we had to handpick a soundtrack to go with it. I used this song to describe Katniss's experience at the reaping and how surreal the whole experience felt. Needless to say, I got a 100 on it :D
Funny, no one mentions that Paul has issues with riding on planes(interviews), resulting in having to take Valium. Which is why I believe he takes it in those cases.

@Biggestmutemathfan i dont think these guys music would be half as awesome without drugs, and if they don't use drugs they should. abusing drugs now that's different, but don't let the govt. make you think drugs are all bad. they're not harmless, but they're not "bad". and there's nothing wrong with someone using drugs unless it's having a serious negative impact, which they rarely do unless you are greedy, stupid or in some cases unlucky. Alot of the best music ever made was drug influenced.
Nope they arent. I have an interview From Paul about the Armistice album. He made the song because he found a stray dog near a hotel, Covered in "spurs". Him and his wife bought the dog into their hotel room, And since the dog was in so much pain they gave him some Valium... It helped and they brought the puppy to the vet after.
odd thing to write a song about, and I don't really see the connection between the story and the lyrics. And you gotta wonder why he had Valium in the first place to give to the dog
A lot of people take it for pain. I work at a pharmacy and I have to dish it out several times a day...so it's not that uncommon for people of any age to get it.
@charliehively why wonder? alot of people take valium to either calm them down or help them sleep. You know you dont have to be a wreck head to take or consider taking it.
@stalepigeon I agree. I was put on powerful painkillers when I had 3 wisdom teeth taken out years ago, I can't remember which ones they were, but it's not uncommon for people to have prescribed drugs like that. It doesn't mean you're a druggie or anything crazy like that.
@Biggestmutemathfan You wouldn't happen to have a link to the interview would you? There are lots of general interviews with Paul, but I can't seem to find any that talk about individual songs specifically. I know YT doesn't allow link-posting, but if you could message it to me I would be really, really grateful. :)
this is one of my favorite "driving songs"! which is weird because normally my driving songs are fast and upbeat, like Muse's Knights of Cydonia. maybe because this one makes me feel like I'm floating and it's one of those songs that you can just sing your lungs out too til you're out of breathe
Amazing how the bonus track is actually my favorite on the album. Along with "Odds". Mute Math has been my favorite band for some time now. They continue to reinvent amazing. Powerful stuff. You guys should check out My Morning Jacket.
When I hear this, I feel like I'm off in the woods somewhere. I love songs that make you feel like your in your own little world, thats what I get with this one.
Did someone change the audio here? No longer the song Valium....

This band requires nothing of you. You can believe anything you want, and listen, and you will leave thinking for yourself.

Such a good song.
The slow entrance and the constant slow pace - the same way as it begins with "I take it slow now..."
The song actually helps me take my mind off things.
The chorus "I wanna fly tonight...." is the best part.
