Royce lost that fight to Matt Hughes for a few reasons. Number one, in the interest of making money through BJJ over the years though dominting people in the first UFC's who had no idea how to ground fight, they ended up teaching all their secrets to anyone who would pay, so Matt knew everything that Royce was coming with, unlike Dan Severn, KImo, Pat Smith etc. Second, Royce is way past his prime. Third, the weight he met Matt at was way too light for his frame, and he gave up alot of power...

Lastly, Royce is very one dimensional with BJJ, but Matt had BJJ, wrestling, and decent boxing to take Royce out. I agree with Laimon's comment that Royce should not have taken that fight, but I also see Serra's point, that Laimon may have been slightly disrespectful about it, because Laimon does come off like a prick many times, and may have dissed the Gracies prior as well.

The conversation is put on hold for just the right amount of time for the camera to change around. No that's not fake at all. The ring fights could be real, that's debatable, the "drama" outside the ring is obviously fake and staged.

Royce lost that fight to Matt Hughes for a few reasons. Number one, in the interest of making money through BJJ over the years though dominting people in the first UFC's who had no idea how to ground fight, they ended up teaching all their secrets to anyone who would pay, so Matt knew everything that Royce was coming with, unlike Dan Severn, KImo, Pat Smith etc. Second, Royce is way past his prime. Third, the weight he met Matt at was way too light for his frame, and he gave up alot of power...
