I don't think it's insecurity or shyness. Wale is a DC nigga and there's not alot of shyness floating around his way, but you know how sometimes people have a nonchalant posture towards interviews. Check alot of his other interviews it's mixed feelings like one he responds like he's doing in this video and other's he's more responsive and hype.

Lots of talented and creative people have psychological (not saying he's crazy) issues. Lauren Hill, Michael Jackson, Prince, DMX jus to name a few.
