I've been in Mexico City and Toronto alike, and of course it's impossible to compare either to one another,. Toronto has a pretty nice financial square with several high-topped buildings, whereas Mexico City has twice or thrice as many skyscrapers but sprawling all along downtown which is much longer than that in T.O. The latter has more cultural diversity but the former's history is appalling. See, I love them both.

The only true sense of metro area in my opinnion would be The Combined Statistical Areas from the US definition.
