  • i dont think you know what you are doing sounds like timming

  • Runs Great.......

  • Uh... Maybe check your timing...

  • if it was a ford engine it wouldnt start and have a horrible oil leak and if it had a tranny it would have lost over drive and slipp threw all gearss

  • @wtl1964 Hmmm Strange... My ford leaks nothing and would smoke your chevies wangsta.

  • @thunderbirdlver mine did and you admit the rest lol all is what happens from experience

  • why would any one keep frying their starter when something is obviously not right with the motor?and then try 24 volts??? whats up with that?

  • @The87wing they dont know what they are doing wow

  • I see what your problem is. Its a chevy.

  • ok dudes sorry i had too i was just trollin around my first car was a 304 2bb out of a 73 matador and my last 2 have has 232 could be identified also by the ci size in the casting

  • 2 different engines the first ones timing geAR was different

  • you need to time that engine, fireing order is 18436572. number 1 is on the right hand side looking from front of engine.

  • timing is off i think, make sure ur wires are run to the right cylinders to. sounds a little wierd to me. little bit of fuckin around u will get it tho

  • How does it sound less than 8 cylinders? Just because it doesn't have a tuned exhaust doesn't mean anything. Fucken morons...

  • I'd like to see that engine stand a little more closely.

  • It's definitely running on all 8 cylinders.

  • it's one eighty out !

  • CLEARLY A PROBLEM. timeing? should have fired right up if you primed it. not poken fun or putting down jsut advice. If it dont fire after the third revolution, stop and check so you dont mess anything up. good luck

  • @h88auto some cars just dont fire quickly, especially if they been sitting for a while, in my experience,

  • she farted

  • is that a rover v8?

  • where is the mini part comin in cuz it looks like a normal v8

  • None of you 'mechanics' know what you are talking about its clearly an amc 304 bored to 305 and I know that all amc blocks are the same an exhaust manifold off a 290 will fit up to a 401 you can tell its amc by the sound trust me ive been working on these for almost 3 years now!

  • @wooh00o You are WRONG and should stay away from motors. It's clearly NOT a 304 bored to 305, it is a chevy 305. AMC 304's have the distributor mounted at an angle in the front, whereas the chevy is mounted in the back, further more look at the harmonic balancer, timing chain cover, freeze plug location as well as the oil filter housing which is clearly chevy. I know, I have been working on chevys for 15 years now! Can you believe this guy? He was CONVINCED he knew what he was talking about LOL

  • @wooh00o ya dickhead! can't you see a small block chev when its staring you in the face?? since when did you see any AMC engine with a REAR distributor? Fool.

  • For those people raging about the 24v to the starter, I hope you know that those people in the video probably has spare starters and actually know how to replace one.

  • I like how in the first part of the video the engine is making an old 1880's windmill/metal to metal screeching sound whle cranking.

  • where could i fing a motor like this to build for myself

  • 0:10 - 0:14 sounds almost musical.

  • perfect example of making yourself look stupid in front of a world wide audience

  • Accident waiting to happen dude...get some education before you ruin anything else. UTI... enlist.

  • Oh ya send 24 volts up a 12 volt starter smart,, ,,NOT,,, don't be crying when u fuck up ur starter

  • Guys do you enjoy looking really stupid? Why show the world you don't know what your doing? 24 volts to a 12 volt starter........ dont make no more videos, ya just look like a pair of butt holes.

  • I'm sure that it's toyota

  • Sounds like about 2-3 cylinders actually firing there

  • u never see a honda do that

  • Clearly some people should not attempt to be mechanics....

  • It's not 180 out. Wouldn't run at all if it was. Sounded to me like it had a valve sticking. Could be the timing was a bit off. Maybe even be a bit rich in the carb. It would be fun to tinker with and figure it out.

  • it all good

  • with the abundance of 350 smallblocks in existence from chevy why would you build a 305 o.O gotta be the least performance oriented v8 chevy has ever built

  • @dlinecg 305 Chevy and the 350 both start with the same block. The stroke and the heads make the difference.

  • @mogeroithe Wrong. The 305 and 350 do NOT share the same block. 305 blocks are cast thin to save weight and can not accommodate the same bore as a 350 which is as follows: 350 is 4 inch bore x 3.48 inch stroke. 305 is 3.736 inch bore x 3.48 inch stroke.

  • @GMisurdaddy I am quite certain you know what you are talking about. I have been a Chevy guy for only 35 years. I've only built more engines than most people buy cars in their lifetime. So I am pretty certain you know more about it than I do. Thank you for your valued input!

  • @mogeroithe Then if you are a Chevy guy as you state then you would know the difference between a 305 and a 350. You said "The stroke and heads make the difference" when in fact the 305 and 350 share the same stroke. It's the bore and heads that make the difference I think is what you meant to say.

  • @mogeroithe Oh and you also said the 305 and 350 "start with the same block" hmmm, for a guy who is a "Chevy guy" one would think that person would know they are of different casts. Here's a list of bore familys: 3.750/3.875 in. bore family: 265, 283, 307. 4.00 inch bore family: 302, 327, 350 (hey there is where the 350 belongs!) 4.125 inch bore family: 400 3.671 inch bore family: 262, 305 (hey there is where the 305 belongs!)

  • @GMisurdaddy i wonder where the idea comes from that a 305 and 350 are the same block with diff. rotating assemblies. im a ford guy and i had to tell all the chevy guys in my club that if you tried to bore a 305 block to fit 350 pistons you would have no cylinder wall! lol

  • Timing is definately out. However it is absolutely NOT 180 OUT!! 180 out means that the distributor rotor would be pointing at #6 when #1 is up on compression, so #1 would be on exhaust stroke when the plug fires, etc. If plug doesn't fire on compression stroke, it WON'T START!!!

  • that doesnt pass smog

  • I love this video. It reminds me of when I first rebuilt an engine. Mine had too much carb. I had many backfires through the carb before I got the knack. LOL I can count how many times my buddy and I had to blow like maniacs to put out the fires in the carb. LOLOLOL

the best part of this video is when they had fire and they both yelled WHOO!!!!

Then they went back and tried it again. Never give up guys.

  • Sounds like they may have put the timing chain in 180 off, oe the distributer in 180 or just 1 tooth off, recheck your tdc, it may have been 180 off in the beginning. Easy stuff, I learned it by trial and error myself, what fun guy stuff!!

  • it would help if you turned it on the first time

  • its 180 out,

  • press 2 ;)

  • Defo timing issue. Have u installed this in the car?

  • GT5 x1 top speed 828 km/h 590 mph 2fast4U

    /watch?v=nyYXBWtsFZc

  • they should ask for help, turning over a fresh engine with a new cam is detrimetal after a few minutes.fireing order and a static timing would get it running.pull plugs make sure none of the side electrodes have been closed.

  • Dude... Have you ever heard of a timing gun? I think it may help. Oh and please get the distributer close next time.

  • is it me or could you squeeze this thing in an 04cooper?

  • id say shes a few teeth off bud chevys fire rite up if you know what your doing

  • might wanna check your leads there bud... and probably the timing

  • Surely it would be simpler to run it off electricity?

  • Sounded like a couple plug wires crossed

  • V5? About how many firing there.

  • @rpeagram nah its just the cam :)

  • No reason to have the timing out on a start up. If it's set up correctly, you should be able to have it start in a couple of cranks.

  • Man it seems like somethink was put togeather wrong because we they had it on 12 volts it would turn then stop ever half of turn or so

  • I agree with maxpaul11--Timing is WAY OFF!!! if it dont fire on 12 volts-ADJUST THE TIMING!!!!!!

  • timming is off lol

  • If you like older engines etc and you're in the locality copy and paste this video link to the You Tube browser...

    watch?v=8OQJ4UrAVJw

  • Timing is off...you could tell how it fired up. Took long enough as well.

  • Does it have any oil in it?!?!?!

  • @Pierre5484 A little squeeky wasn't it. Did they prime with oil at least?

  • it wouldnt start a 180 degrees out my 350 did the same just a tight motor i had to install mine and pull start it for a week runs better than any 350 ive every seen now

  • sounds to me like its 180 out.

  • @frtaylor29 I totaly agree , the timming is off 180 degrees

  • Back to 1900 :)

  • killin that starter! if she don't start barkin after 15 seconds, shut her down, let her chill. and 24v!? whoa!! no... if it's taken that long to start... let me put it in easy terms... ya dun sumthin rong

  • Boom! Woof!

  • jesus...listen to that timing.... :(

  • The Timeing is off.

  • Niiice!

  • Good try guys keep building you'll learn. But like some say here use some assembly lube, shim the starter, and you need to to keep the distributer loose so you can turn it while trying to start a new engine. You have to adjust the timing when starting a new engine. Don't go by the factory settings or the camshaft you have bought to put in the motor. Not until you have the motor broke in then you can tweak it to the factory specs. One more hint new engine 2 starters & a battery charger.

  • @DARKFALL57 negative.... new engine should fire up in less then a few minutes if you put it together correctly, and if you have a good charger and battery, and allow the starter to cool properly, perhaps put a fan on it, there's no need go through any starters or batteries.... just sayin

  • So when can I get one of these put on my electric scooter?

  • they did everything right but a little off on the timing. You gotta try to learn.

  • Sounds like they put the cam in backward's, lol

  • did u use assembly lube?

  • Keep pressing 2 and watch the guy barking at his engine. lol

  • your timing is wayy toooo advanced turn the distributer back some

  • @renegadehick

    Agreed-- 100%...

  • @renegadehick if the timing was to advanced it would be popping out of the carburator.

  • That back fire out the pipe should have told you, you have a timing problem. Your distributor is probably off one tooth. Also, that starter needs to be shimmed out away from the motor. It's grinding really bad. Good luck guys.

  • good job. well see them at an auto parts store real soon. hahaa

  • @ladiesman7702 it would be late timing, firing during overlap.

  • @ladiesman7702 derp

  • syrenges not good? or take a better spark plug

  • Fire...What's Fire?

  • couldnt u just hit it once

  • @sdpvids I'm sure something will come up, chassis without engines have a way of magically appearing, just not when you need them.

  • I hope to God you didn't mean a Cooper Mini, that would be tail swapping obscenity.

  • Mid engine mini what, mini van? A mid engine mini van would make for a nice center of gravity. Usually I put off starting the engine until after it is in the vehicle.

The Chevy Astro mini is the only one I know of with a differential so I figure that would be what you are putting it into.

  • hÊy_àny_gûYs_wÁñt_tÖ_chÁt_with_me

  • Firing Order 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 at 4 degrees before top dead center. Your timing sounds like its 180 out.

  • @dwarfcar76 Maybe the wires were crossed...

  • 305?? 5 litre?

  • they gona fuck it running it like that for too long...

  • Jeez, 1.3 million hits? I guess people like to see idiots in action! I posted what I think is an awesome 327 startup video (sounds great) and I have gotten only about 1 K hits. Go figure.

  • @jridge56 cause your vid is probally a real shitty vid

  • @Motocrossrider450 Yeah, OK......like I give a crap what an illiterate has to say. You can't even spell, jackass.

  • YEAH YOU CAN TELL FROM THE START THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING

  • WRONG PLUG WIRE MATCH

  • maybe u guys should check the timming and firing order!!!!

  • Wow, the starting noise at first sounds like the siren of the Ghostbusters car!

  • Need more crank speed and a bloody good tune up, Well done for getting it going though. Hope you didnt f%$k it to much in the initial attempts at starting it

  • Please watch:

Rotary Engine & Boxer Engine Combination - A WORLD'S FIRST

  • sounds like a damn model T trying to start,LOL

  • @surrynet you mean a horseless cariage!

  • just keep cranking it! geeze....if it doesnt fire within a few seconds...SOMETHING IS WRONG! sounds like you got a couple plug wires switched...

  • How did you rebuild the motor considering it looks like you failed one of the basics of setting base timing befor trying to turn over the block.

  • that first part sounds like the distributors in 180 off... same conclusion after the ball of fire.. usually when that happens you dont keep going though hahaha but ive made that mistake before haha

  • Why not just use starting fluid.

  • Thats not even fucking mini lol

  • is there even oil in there???

  • CHECK THE TIMING!!!

  • CHECK THE TIMING!!!!!!!!

  • Starter fluid after couple cranks ?

  • @sleeptyper a new engine if everything is right should hit within the first few cranks, no reason ether should be needed

  • timing is way off

  • @1rudich i agree timeing way off or the intake is leaking badd

  • @1rudich your right you can hear it when its turning over

  • @1rudich your right seems like the timing was to fast

  • @1rudich by a mile

  • Comment removed

  • @skullzcrusher adjust the carburetor for a different timing, you know that's impossible right?

  • @1rudich does sound like it.

  • @1rudich oh yeah shes timed perfect cant notice him with timing light or anythin

  • timing is off or the carb isn't set right whats the jetting???

  • These are the only guys who would build a stupid 305. Ugh... I try to tell people all the time. 45 cubes are alot!

  • check the air in the tires, yeah tires,,lol.

    good job,guys.

we knew, between the 2 of you, one of you guys could suck start a Chevy,,lmao

    just kidding, guys

  • nice video mate,a shame more guys are not doing this constructive and educating past time, not to mention the fun later on when its fitted to your ride, well done, nothing like building something by yourself/friends and watch it come to life,a dying breed in this plastic, buy it now, brain dead times...well done boys!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yah timeing

  • Your timing is way off bro get some immediate attention

  • CHECK YOUR IGNITION TIMING LOOKS LIKE ITS WAY OUT

  • Timing is totally off, even sounds like it might be chirping lol

  • timming 180 out

  • Ur running way to rich buddy.

  • keep @it dont pay the idiots no mind.

  • People can say these guys don't know what they are doing, and maybe they don't really. But they did manage to get the thing together, and get it running. This is how to learn. I am sure with a bit of help and advice from some knowledgable people they could get that thing reving sweetly.

  • @morningstomper123

your right everybody started at somepoint they did get it started and running congrats from me and don`t let the couch potatos tell you what to do most these guys here don`t have a clue themselve.

but they just dont know any better.

  • @morningstomper123 exactly! and im pretty sure you couldn't rebuild a motor without knowing what you are doing.

  • Serious timing problem.....start over and pay attention to EVERY detail....

  • Say what you want, but this video has 1,200,000 plus views.

  • I Think its time to sell that to the scrap dealers. That motor must be 30 years old by now.

  • When you finish that, can you put it on my scooter plzzzzz :D

  • sounds like no compression on at least 3 cylinders, sounds kind of sick

  • these wankers should open up an auto shop they look like they know what they are doing pitty the conrod didnt punch out the side and hit the moron in the head

  • you pair of fuckwits are gonna gas yourselves... run it outside morons!!!

  • disty in backwards

  • can i have my 1:04 back please

  • this is how an engine should sound.

  • here is a suggestion for you boys. when your cranking a fresh engine for the first time and you hear metal scraping sounds....STOP FUCKIN CRANKING!!!

i wonder how long that engine lived after that abuse.

  • Go back to truck driving" Boy's"before you hurt yourself .....

  • Hmmm did you guys wire the distributor in the REVERSE order? I'd say the timing is a bit out....lol

  • from what is the engine P.S ME PLS!!

  • typical chevy....

  • from the look of the exhaust clouds its way too rich .... and from the sound if it running and the flame thru the exhuast while start ing the tiing is way out ...

  • How is this a mini monster?

Also, any motor can make giant power, that's easy. Picking the appropriate motor for the chassis and application is what sets rookies and pro's apart

  • like this one?

    /watch?v=6CV30gYKTYU

  • If my 305 sounded like that i would put a bullet in her and put it down.and as much a fan of the 327 as i am.i have to disagree with the 305 comment.they're not lame.i can make good power with a 305.it's perfect for street applications.good power and decent fuel mileage if done right. But Right on with the 327 one of my favorites.

  • why would u build a 305 lame. 327 is a way better motor

  • I love seeing idiots do engine work....it makes me LMAO.

When the timing is right and fuel in the carb it'll start without having to crank and crank and crank and crank and crank LMAO.

But again it is a GM so no big deal,it's still a POS lol

  • HA they're letting the exhaust blow INSIDE the shop. No wonder these guys couldn't think straight.

  • hey bubba did you check the timing no jetrow i thought you did ..hell

  • Ever heard of timing, MORONS?

  • timings off

  • um 180 out

  • @viper08v10 <-- this.... hopefully he figured it out lol

  • You have to line up the dots on the timing gears.

I just about hit the floor when puffed out that big fireball. I think she wanted you to get the hell away.

  • jak tamto zółte kółko się kręci to poradzil bym na korbe zakręcić:D:D

  • retard the timing a few degrees bud1
