The people that don't learn and move on from the past shall never progress as a person or as a people not flexing to the changes of the world being stiff and ridged creates friction with others thus causing problems....
@dahn0721 The people that live in the past are restrained and limited by their past. They can not grow as their past suffocates them. As Bruce lee said to the effect of that rigidity is death.
Something for anyone to reflect: Will there ever be a time that we should to hold to certain values that many oppose? When will we know when to be flexible and when to be rigid. What society once openly deemed as acceptable now opposes. Even today's some people have political and religious beliefs holding to values and interpretations from the 1800s and before.
My examples are the Amish, Islam, others who hold on to the past.
I don't know many girls at all if any who are into martial arts like me. I am only a yellow belt but I am greatly inspired by Bruce and have been for a while. His philosophy and teachings as well as his skill have inspired me to make many changes to my life. And I can only wish that I can some day reach a standard in wich Brice would be happy with the way I have followed his teachings
@hiniko2 A belt of color shouldn't make you feel that you are not ready to become the "Standard" that people expect. im sure if Bruce was still alive he would of said something like "all you can do is your best, nothing and nobody is perfect....only uniquely their own" then smack your head for putting yourself down hahaha.
when i spent all my time knowing nothing its good to start again with a fresh mind and be inspired to have a open mind and be free of uneeded thoughts which held be back in the first place
I really enjoyed this one "Let the spirit out. Discard all thoughts of reward, all hopes of fear and blame, all awareness of one's bodily self. And, finally closing the avenues of sense perception, let the spirit out, as it will.
I love his quotes that are compared to nature because it makes so much more sense to me and I think everyone can connect with that because it is nature.
These quotes are so inspirational, and meaningful to everyday life. These are quotes I will live by till the end of time. The music in the background also is great.
You know what's funny is that I can't idenify with of Bruce Lee's quotes because (at least in my head) some of those put in these 2 videos contradict eachother. but that doesn't say much about Bruce because it's next to impossible (NOT impossible) to be a philosopher and not be subject self contradiction. and those comments that were like "i know nothing, but hey it's a start remind me of a quote by......Socrates I think, that read "I know nothing but the fact of my own ignorance."
Even though I've heard this a hundred times, I still do not understand what Bruce Lee means when he says to not think but feel. I do not understand how it is like pointing your finger to the moon. What does he mean by that?
@legendaryninja1993 when your walking do you actually think about walking? or just feel it the same counts for breathing or driving a car eventually all the skills you've obtained, becomes natural. That is mine interpretation lol
@ar061788 i guess what you are saying is that if you already know something, you should feel it rather than to think about it, okay I think you've helped me alot on understanding this, I would bow to you, but i'm ten thousand miles away from wherever you are so I thank you for sharing your knowledge.
he really trained me, i mean he is like a father to me seriously. yea he's dead but jesus is too and i learn from them man i really did and still is. i was born 91 and bruce died in 73 and for it to b 2010 and he been dead for over 36 years now it's crazy how we all still learning from this man. knowledge is power believe that.
And with all of the knowledge I've accumulated in my life time... Still, I know nothing... Hey, but it's a start right? Awesome post... your playlist on Bruce Lee is such a welcome relief... Keeping it real, keeping it pure, keeping his memory alive... And helping so many generations with his wisdom left behind...
@silversobe: Those are words that I live by... It is impossible for anyone to know everything. Though, they may believe what they know to be true, it may not actually be true. What is commonly believed may turn out to be false (the world is flat). Believe me, I have an idea on the subject. My last comment was an attempt at humor, & apparently a bad attempt at that.. : - )
@silversobe: Also, the statement of, "I know nothing, but hey it's a start" is like saying that I am open to learning, and that not everything I have learned up until this point is everything and all things that can and should be learned. Starting from 0 is a start, and it can be done at any stage. Basically, it's keeping an open mind.
@ValueFreedom I know what you meant man. I was just supporting the importance of keeping an open mind and not being to quick to make conclusions. There is indeed humor in how much we still have yet to learn.
@ValueFreedom Socrates, was given the title the wisest man in all of Greece excatly because of that he understood that he did not know many things, unlike others who knew something but pretended to know of stuff they did not,
By admitting that you do not know the things you are not aware yet that is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom,
Read the "Last Days of Socrates", it's quite enlightening and not far from what Bruce Lee spoke of.
@01coyote13 Thank you for the recommendation. I've been trying to find it online. So far, I've found lectures on the work, but not just the translation itself. Doing the search, encountered a virus on my pc. I'll keep looking, but if you have a good pdf link on the, "Last Days of Socrates", could ya please private message me the direct link. That would be mighty thoughtful and helpful of ya.
@ValueFreedom Although i do not have a link i can give you the names of four books that cover those lats days, thay are "Euthyphro" the first part , "Apology" second part, "Crito" the third and "Phaedo"
the book i have is a "penguin's classic's" and i found it in barnes and nobles in the philosophy section
@01coyote13 Yes, actually it does help. I"ve been meaning to go by the book store for something else. I've written down what you've helped me with, and I'm sure I'll be able to find them. Thank you for taking the time to help a brother out. It is something I'm very interested in (philosophy of all sorts) and I continue to learn. Thank you...
@JusT000ZeToR Not developing a fixed system to live by. Not limiting yourself to a particular way. Not having a fixed way of living or thinking. All systems are partial. But to live in what is consists of everything with no limitations.
Tao of Jeet Kune Do ( Way Of The Intercepting Fist) like the Sun Tzu Art of War , is taken from a taoist philosophical vision of nature and natural balance. Excellent video silversobe. Hope you do some of Lao Tzu Tao Te Ching if you get the chance
Thanks. Ive seen a few interviews and other videos of him but I don't think he compares to Bruce. Especially Bruce's wisdom. I need to learn more about him to have a greater understanding of this man behind the title of grand master.
