3/3Simply asking people their age will not solve the problem, it will only make it worse. It will desensitise people to the question and it will be second nature to lie. The best course of action(however terrible it might seem)is to simply raise awareness about the problem to parents, and make them aware of the many content-control options available out there(however much I hated it as a kid). Wow, this is starting to sound like birth control. Hmm...I think I might make this into a video response
2/3The reason why I said I was over 18 had nothing to do with sex (initially at least, everything changes once puberty hits). It was purely because a lot of the best internet games required you to be over 18 to be able to use the entire game (the best games for kids in 2000, so neopets and stuff like that). The problem was that these games made it seem so casual to lie about your age. When you're asked at every turn of the corner and there is no punishment of any kind, it'll be natural to lie.
"It shouldn't be that easy". No it shouldn't, but how would you propose they go about changing it? Personally, I've been saying that I was over 18 on the internet since I was 6 or 7 (I've been using computers since windows 95 came out). There never has been, and it will be a long time before there is, any realistic way of telling the age of someone using the internet. It's a sad truth, but it is the truth. It is the responsibility of the parents to know what their kids are doing and protect them.
I think that it's should be all on the parents. Your video is up there to help and educate people. If 11 year olds are watching you have no control of that. The parents should be watching closer and blocking things on the Internet that the kids shouldn't see.
Point being if you stopped making videos a lot of people wouldn't have the education of these topics.
I'll be honest, I'm not "over eighteen" like you said. I'm 17 (which I don't think makes a difference)
& most of the things you talk about is good for me, the only videos I watch are the ones I need to watch. Like the ones about birth control and contraceptives. Because I got pregnant at 15 and still don't know a lot about birth control still. I don't watch any of the ones that are on a topic that isn't something I need.
i can understand how you would feel bad but i know a couple dozen 9-11 year old who watch a lot of porn so your videos aren't to bad compared to what the kids these days are into.
Hey I'm 14 and I just wanted to let u know that by going to a public school, u hear FAR worse then what u talk about in these videos.... Yes I know that doesn't make it right but you have to realize younger people are getting exposed to more mature content at a faster rate then ever. All I'm saying is whether or not u had these vids up 10& 11 year olds would still b finding mature stuff. I don't think u should stop making vids because u have some really neat views & it would b a shame for u not
While I agree with you, Isn't there other options for making these videos less easily accessible?
I noticed today that some these videos aren't labled as having mature content or anything, perhaps you could look into having 18+ account restrictions for viewing the videos you don't want 18- to watch?
I know that this won't stop all of them, but at least young people watching the videos then have to blatantly lie about their age.
I could be wrong, I like what you are doing and I mean no offense
@kicesie Ahh ok, I've only ever uploaded videos of my rallying so I wasnt sure how it all worked. I think that youtube should make it possible to do thoughs like editing the audiences that can watch your video, at least then people have to lie to view it.
what about 14 soon to be 15, though i do not beleive im ready, but i seem to get a lot of attention from girls and i could do it if i desired it but i believe if i know more about it and im preparred for it, than i can make my descision. thats why i watch your videos, it makes me more knowledgable, for when i need too make these kinds of decisions.
You are so right! It is the parents job to be in watch of their own kids I mean my little brother is on YouTube at the age of 4 but we always keep a good watch on him all the time just in case he sees something that might hurt him . So yeah you do have the right to be mad and that's all I have to say
I some what agree with you, but over all it is the parents responsibility to not only establish good morals but to filter and secure any unknown communication to the outside world. If all adult material were difficult to get into, adults such as my self who may need some merital advice but have little time to search would probably just give up. However that is just my opinion and I love your videos keepem coming.
I completely agree that the parents need to be watching their children when they are on the Internet. You have every right to be frustrated and kids should not be allowed to create YouTube accounts.
People, no matter the age, are probably not learning about sex for the first time when they hear your voice. If they are seeking out videos on sex, could it possibly get any better than seeing you talk, calmly and professionally - but still young enough to be relatable - about feeling good about yourself and making your partner feel good while still being safe? I'd rather have a curious teen stumble across your vids than any others on the internet.
Your right, it is way too absolute to say what I said. I was just angery and what I should have said was that it's my opinion that to raise a child "properly" and "normaly" you need the attention of two parents. Congagulations, you made me regret my previous statement.
I'm not religous, but if I was a faithful cristian than I would consider the Internet to be a sin. And I wouldn't even own a computer. I know it's an outragous statement but obviously you can't solve this problem in other ways for various reasons. Think about parents who don't have the time. Part of the reason you need two parents who can openly discus parenting. SINGLE PARENTING DOESN'T WORK!!!
@adpylons I know of many single parents that have done a better job than a married parent family. And your statement is way too absolute. Are you saying if the mom/dad died, the remaining parent better give the child up for adoption immediately cause one parent isn't good enough? Of course that's absurd. Thus, it's crazy to say 'SINGLE PARENTING DOESN'T WORK!'
In fact some of the most amazing parents I've seen are single parents that adopted because marriage wasn't in the cards for them.
@adpylons I'm the daughter of a single mother and she has done a great job raising me. Single parenting is not an ideal situation, but it does work, and single parents can provide just as much love as two parents. It's harder and it's a lot more stressful, but there are definite rewards to being in a single parent household. By saying that single parenting doesn't work you are demonstrating a lack of knowledge, understanding, and tolerance.
You're not ageist for wanting parents to do their duty, kids should be supervised on the internet, its a serious issue, its opening a lot of doors to predators and it is unacceptable when it can all be prevented by a parent giving a damn.
Like i said in comment to the first part to this video, i agree with you.
Im sure youtube has similar problems, even if youtube cracked down, you'd still see kids on fake accounts or their parents accounts.
Exactly. It's always ends up back at the parents. My parents were in the room while I was on the internet until I got a fulltime job late in my 15th year of life. Then I was only allowed 45-60 minutes online at a time. Then I left for college and didn't have the time. lol!
I will most definitely have ONE family computer in central part of the house with parental controls appropriate for their ages. And I'll also be the one talking to them about sex from youngins on up...! :-)
Hey that's how it was when i was a teen and I'm 21 now, and I'm glad my parents actually cared enough to set those boundaries if they hadn't i might have gotten myself mixed up in something over my head as kids unsupervised tend to, you hear sad stories everyday terrible stories that could have been stopped if the parents had set their foot down somewhere, and while they play the blame game, in the meantime a life is changed for good or bad, usually bad, forever.
@kicesie I stumbled on one of your vids because it was considered by YouTube's stupidity to be a video related to "Equilibrium". I watched one of your other vids and I think your actually doing something good. Maturity is not an age. Maturity is caused by exposure to things that force us to mature. Handle the subject matter in a mature way and you will be ok in my book. By raising the issue it is clear to me that you are still maturing yourself.
Parents have the capability to understand what their kids do on the computer. There are internet filters, key stroke programs and such. Parents need to be more involved with their kids and not be afraid to talk about some subjects. moving the computer to the livingroom or kitchen might be the answer. There's a great Christmas movie with Ben Afleck called Surviving Christmas. Their son was "studying" all the time. I wonder if he's still traumatized. Check out the movie, it's awesome.
As an update... What I, in part, chose to do with this was to try and focus a lot more on basic sex ed issues. So if they DO end up watching ones I'd rather they not, hopefully they stumble across some others that teach them something useful.
@kicesie hi i'm seven years old and... jk haha ;) i think seeing that there are millions who watch your videos shows widespread curiosity that is human nature.
to stop the channel would have been quite a loss, and i'm glad you didn't.
i believe that even if you feel responsible, you're not, anybody can find anything on the internet, it is ALL out there and ANYBODY can get to ANYTHING.
the only thing you can do is hope parents know better than to have their little kids unattended at their PC's...
I understand how it shouldnt be that easy to watch inaproppriate content but as you said, if you want it you will find it, there isnt much that you can do to strengthen the laws of the internet age wise... i feel the same
I'm 17 - 18 in a month. Basically, I made a promise to myself some time ago that I would not have sex until I turned 18. I've been really surprised this last year how pro-sex a lot of girls my age seem to be. I've had to turn it down more than I would have liked. To get to the point, I'm dating a 16 y/o who I'm sure has the same values in sex I do - we don't want to waste it. My question is whether or not it's wrong to get into this with her because of her age? I know it's easy to tell me it is,
in part 1 you said briefly that this would be appropriate for high schoolers, i would agree , high school is time that its good to understand these things and learn about it so your prepared
Its impossible to deal with the age factor, lying is to easy on sites like this, kids wudnt be on here if money was a issue(Im not suggesting it as the amount of ppl viewing ur videos is so high, it would deprieve them of something) And i think ur wrong the blame the parents, they cant monitor children like they could 30-50yrs ago. Please, keep up the vids and remember that theres only a small minority that are being "irresponsible"
Teach kids right from wrong in the first place, and that will give them the true freedom to chooce when they get older. Denying right from wrong is as deadly as gulping a cup of gas...
hey i belive the parents should be held responsable for things like this. a parent that cant monetar what there child dose... "in my openion"... is a parent not worthy of a child. i'm sorry i feel that way but the parents should realy have more concern for what their children do, and i agree that it is frustrateing that the kids are watching this, however you cant blame them it is the parents that do not censor the kids.
I think the whole paradigm "everythign we tell children about sex, they will do it immediately" - is ridiculously old fashioned, in my opinion. It only makes sure kids will get wrong information the wrong way. It only makes sure if they do something too early (and no, they can't be watched 100% of the time) they will be punished with disease, premature pregnancy and psychological damage.
I totally understand the legal concern, and having to deal with histerical parents.
but I have to say - I don't think children will run straight to do [blank] just because kicesie talked about it. I don't think you should feel guilty if someone to young listens to you.
I have been doing some research for a lesson on Internet Filtering for parents. Here are some interesting stats from 2003 - 90% of 8-16 yo's have viewed porn. Average age of of first internet exposure to porn is 11! Largest consumer of internet porn 12-17 yo's. I agree Kicesie, Where are the parents?
:-) Haha. Sure would be. Quite happily, I'm not going for a phd, but a PsyD. Very little emphasis on research... none you have to do yourself. Instead I get to spend all my time practicing therapy! :-D And hopefully not screwing anyone up too much.
You are correct. Parents should be present. However when they are not and the children seek out material, I'd rather them find yours which teaches respect, acceptance, love, liberty, truth, etc... than to find hard core, violent, disrespecting content, which is so much easier to locate. You are doing something that heals not destroys.
I have gained even more repect for you after these two videos. You are truly a caring decent person. As for my opinion...You are not responsible for raising other peoples children. Parents have to stand up! If you stop making videos, then parents can get away with not taking responsibility for their duties.
your moral compass is right. If the only way you can get those that clearly should not being veiwing your videos is to not make them then mabey focusing on other topics is a good idea. I know that really sucks but think of the alternitive of you continue to produce videos that help a lot of people but you feel guilty about. As for the parents, how sad is it that the internet is teaching their kids about sex? They have turned over part of their parenting to the general public with no filter.
i think that was more of a half comment. so yeah, anything that ever had the word sex or anything that was questionable was blocked on my computer bacause of my parental block (until i moved out and got my own computer) it is absolutly outrageous that CHILDREN (because that is what they are) are viewing things that are not appropriate. it makes me angry just thinking about it.
i totally agree! i have always had a parental block on my computer (till i moved out, lol) and it is not cool that kids these days are accessing more and more things that they shouldn't know about. kudos to you. your videos are actually pretty interesting and i hope that you don't stop making them.
Continued...I know I got into some crazy stuff when I was younger and had innappriate conversations at that young age and consequently, i believe, I had sex at a young age, I was 14. So parents please please keep an eye on your kids.
SO as you can read from my comment on your first installment I totally agree with youtube needing to be more responsible. I also think that Parents should, if your kid is 11, 12, 13 years old monitor what they are doing. If you can't be in the room, check the history when they get off something.
and let me tell you something else.I just saw some stuff on another channel that was of a woman taking her clothes off,and erotically touching herself...yadayadayada.*That* is completely different than what you do here. There is a *huge* difference. That is what we need to worry about when it comes to our kids viewing something inappropriate.
Its tough, having a great exchange of information, and having kids able to see it,which is inappropriate for them.I know that this is frustrating for you,but kids are gonna listen anyway they can because of their curiousity about sexual matters.Yes, parents should know what their child is watching. This isnt porn.Maybe at the beguinning of each video say something like if you aint 18 get out of my forum. But,it is better for them to hear about this here, than on the street. Please dont stop.
It might be your fault. You're pretty face and warm voice keep them around. I say you should countinue to do it in an appropriate manner. What you say is harmless for kids. Parents are too bussy earning for their lives and education. They don't have time to live as parents.
Could it be the viewer resposability? No way. They don't even understand all those things. But it's better from here other than streets, where they learn violence and other bad things.
go out there making video saying sex is good do blow job do tra lala ... you do education with is much more better than porn movie ... and yet again as you said if a child or kid or a person who is being not watched wnat to check out some thing they will and if it is yours vids then they will succeded .... so i want to congrat you for your good work and advice you to start you own website with good age verifying ... and also maybe 1 or 2 or 5$ subscriber ... and then you would be able to
well i say keep doing good video !! kids well child who aren'T in high school should't watch ur vids but .. can u really do something else beside start ur own web site or stop doing it !!! i would no vote for the stop doing it... youtube should really be more accurate about the age of viewer content like a confirm sms wich match the age of the owner of the cell phone of any other proff of age !!! and also in another way .. you don'T go out there making video saying sex is good
Sadly my opinion is "fuck it" and keep going. Out of all the places they could see something this place would be the least harmful to them in my opinion.
I cannot understand y society is so overwhelmingly concerned about not allowing their children watch any sex scenes and at the same time there r many movies showing cruelty 2 animals and THAT seems 2 be of little if at all concern. And hammer it into ur empty heads that children r born this or that way, u cannot made them this or that way. Thus children r already BORN as psychopaths, good children and so on.
While it's good to be aware of audience you cannot change because of the danger of younger viewers. Should pornographers change their content because of underage people watching? You raise good points about parental and Youtube responsibility, but children will get access to anything if they want to. I think though that they could be doing far worse than watching your educational videos. The fact that they watch your videos rather than being able to find worse stuff suggests something.
I remember that when my son was learning about human sexuality at church and at home (we always answered any question in as age appropriate way possible), his best friend was not allowed to participate at church. Later we found that we were answering his questions via my son.
You are providing a service to people of whatever age.
i think if u want to keep making these videos, theres unfortunately litle you can do keep young people off. i DO NOT think you should stop though. it is youtube's responsibility and they need to come up with better ways to keep younger people out of mature content.
Even though I completly understand your distaste in young adolescents seeing the topics you cover. At least it promotes safety and positive messages, something the porn sites do not. Take this opportunity to do something the parents are not, promote sexual responsibility and awarness. Teach these kids how it is better to wait, and the negative effects that having sex too young can bring.
Ending your videos is not the answer. These unsupervised children will see explicit sexual material at every corner. Your videos however are not seeking to display derogative images, they seek to inform and enlighten the viewing audience.
Kicesie, the only solution I may have for you regarding this latest video is to simply change subject matter. Answer questions or talk about other things other than sex education. It either that or the alternative which you clearly dont want to do either. I hope you will see this & it helps. Chris.
(4)If we were to assume Kicesie is responsible for them seeing these, then the only reasonable course of action would be discontinuation and removal of the series. A world of mature viewers loses a valuable resource, just so some slacker parents can avoid their responsibility more. Not a reasonable solution in my mind.
Absolutely not. People were so irresponsible with it and they grew this self-entitlement to MY body. I learned a good lesson though and was joyous when I removed it.
you know kicesie i know what you mean and i agree with everything you say and as you sayed it the vid des. it is an awesome to make a lesser materilized sex ed. Also i agree that youtube should have some sort of security system or something to keep underaged people to view videos not suitable for their age. Maybe like SS#'s or something?
(3)To the big question... Who's responsible for kids watching the advanced sex ed series? Sorry, but I'm laying this 100% on the parents. The internet in general makes it insanely easier to find far worse things than these videos, parents have a duty to know what their children see.
I will agree with an earlier poster that education is needed, but totally agreeing with Kicesie, that doesn't mean they need the full range of mature knowledge as young as possible. I'm an idealist, just to put that in right away, and I believe in the idea of innocence. We are allowed our innocence once, you lose it and it's gone forever. The freedom to see the world with a child's eyes is important to me, and it saddens me how young that freedom is being stolen.
(1)The downward spiral. Something bad happens, and we use that occurance as an excuse to be less vigilant about similar occurances in the future. Perfect example, "kids are having sex younger and younger these days" is an excuse parents use to shake off some of their responsibility. It only serves to continue the trend.
the one thing that is stopping me from trying is knowing that some of thenm have gone all the way and most of them have at least gave blow jobs and fingured and I am totaly not ready. I think I respect myself to much but what more should I do? and what do u think about my situation?
You clearly realize that you're not ready. So don't do anything you're not ready to do. No matter what that means to your social life, or anything. At the end of the day, you have to live with you. You have to be proud of the choices. Messing around with a guy isn't ever going to make you feel better about yourself.
they make the jokes that I make and they kid around and have the type of fun I like to have. BUT they do ALOT....I just had my first boyfriend over the summer. I WAS SUPER HAPPY because he was not from my school and he made me feel specail but fought alot and stuff but right before we broke up we went to the movies and my head was on his cheat but NOTHING happen...I did not think it would...I have never kissed guy and I just he just kissed me on the cheak but....next post
Like I said I am 13 and in either grade and all my friends and some other people say I am pretty but I really dont belive them and that is mostly beacause I am not popular. I have some good friend and resently I have talked with the popular people online more (the girls) and I no I would have alot more fun hangin w. some of them, not because they are popular but because...read next comment
hi i am Salena and i am 13. First I would really like you to read this whole thing. Second I would really like your opion even if it is not that strong. I have already watched those videos. I really think that they were not that bad. Some of it suprised me and/or intrested me but i thought it was good because it made me think more. ok plez read next post.
yeahh i agree with you on this omg if i ever found out my little 10 year old cousin would watch these things i would pound his head off lol or anyone in particular! i cant say bc i wasent really observed while using a computer but not bc my mom didnt care but bc she worked till late! but deff i agree with you!
parents should observe their child while they are online!
I am curious--do you suggest to the children who ask you these questions that they talk to their parents about it? I'm assuming you do. Do they tend to feel that they can't discuss such things with their parents--that it's a forbidden issue? I really don't think you are harming anyone by giving accurate information, and I don't think accurate information would "scar" someone. I can see how depictions of violence could scar somebody, but why sex? Why _do_ we consider certain information...
[2] ..."inappropriate" for young people? I've heard of a book "Harmful to Minors" by Judith Levine. I've not read the book myself, but I'm told it does an excellent job at making the point that it's actually MORE harmful to "protect" children from information about sex than it is to simply answer their questions honestly. I can personally attest to this. I developed a guilt complex in my early teenage years about having sexual feelings, and quite frankly I believe it was precisely BECAUSE my...
[3] ...parents reacted with shame and embarrassment every time they were asked any questions about sex. So the lesson I learned from their reactions was this: Sex is something dirty and shameful, and if you think sexual thoughts that makes you a dirty and shameful person. It took a long time for me to undo this programming. I think the trauma was far worse than it would have been (if at all) had I just been given honest answers. I think what you are doing is helping a lot more than it is...
[4] ...hurting, if it's even hurting anyone at all (I don't think it is). The trouble is with the parents--they don't keep a close eye on what their children are doing, they're not involved in their children's lives, they don't talk frankly with their children about sex, and they don't maintain a relationship in which the child feels he/she can trust the parent with whatever might be on their mind.
When it al comes down to it, what I RESENT is that because parents are NOT giving their kids info (I believe parents should answer any and ALL questions. I believe they should offer the info before questions are asked!) then their kids come to me and could, potentially, leave me liable!
I just created an account for my daughter to have email. In order to verify me allowing her to have an account they did a credit card verification. Maybe youtube should look into something like that and no longer allow young children to have accounts without it!!! Just a thought. Love ya keep up the videos.
YOU cannot stop anyone from getting there. The only thing YOU can do as an individual is exactly what you are doing, which is giving correct information. After all information on its own is never bad.If it is not used correctly it is NOT a mistake of the one who gave it. I am new in these discusions and I really hope I am not over-doing it. George from Greece
You look really frustrated...And its only natural that you are.But you have to consider that the same information you are giving or generaly information on the same topic exist all around the network.
I think it's a better policy to lay all the cards on the table and make sure they know that sex carries with it some very major risks and hence is something for adults only, but I don't think that means they need to be shielded from mere _information_ regarding the subject (which is quite different than violent hardcore pornography, which they most definitely SHOULD be protected from). I think attempting to do so only makes the situation worse. That's my two cents.
...but if it's any consolation to you if I had found such a video at that age I probably would have watched it out of sheer intellectual curiosity, quickly got bored with it, and then moved on. No harm done. It wasn't like I would have ever considered actually having sex at that age. The bigger concern is if children feel unable to talk to their parents openly about this subject.
The bigger concern, in my humble opinion, is why children that age would continue to be fascinated with videos of a sexual nature rather than quickly getting bored with them. Is there anything inherently more harmful about knowing how adult humans reproduce than knowing how say, the circulatory system functions? It doesn't mean the child is ready to be a surgeon, of course! I know you might be "weirded out" by the fact that children so young would be watching some of your technique videos, ...
If I think back to when I was that age I expect I might have had a passing interest in your videos about technique (probably because of the whole "taboo" surrounding it), but it would have quickly gotten boring. There do exist societies in the world where it's common for children to walk in on their parents having sex, and the parents think nothing of it. Sex is not made into a hidden taboo like it is in the United States, and as a result people are not as fascinated with it.
its like monkey see monkey do but they don't get that if you think about it realistically sex and sexual activity is what all mammals and most plants do to conceive and populate so its not something a 10 or 11 year old should want to be doing. Starting a family. They are not even legally old enough to get married. But I am not criticizing or being judgmental. Just my opinion. I hope you do keep making your series you have a lot to offer.
I get what you're saying and your frustration. I agree with you. I am appalled by some parents. There's a girl I know and by the time she was 13 she has slept with over 25 guys. I think someone should be talking to these girls. But I don't know how to help.
Wow! Watchdog3 has to be joking...Nobody spells that badly and has a daughter in college. As you say anyone watching your vids could be finding tons of porn or worse with a click, your stuff is thoughtfully and responsibly created and would only help people. Also there are a lot of people that would benefit that are not 18. Please don't let irresponsible parents DICTATE one more thing for the rest of the world. The problem is haters fear the truth. Keep up your good work!
It's not your fault if younger people watch your videos. You shouldn't be held responsible for anyone who shouldn't be seeing them that ends up seeing them. I agree that Youtube should keep younger people from watching videos with certain mature content.
I applaud all that you are doing. As one who majored in human psycology a long time ago (Elvis, Jerry Lee, Fats Domino, etc)To gibe you an idea of my age bracket. I can tell you from experience that you are refreshing to see and listen to on a delicate topic. Yes! Where are the parenys? Keep up the good work.
As a grandparent I say don't stop. You give understanding to a complex subject. Gun manufacturers, cigarette makers, beer makers all worry about their products and still go on making them. Better you then some one less talented tackle the problem. Keep it up.
i think that u should still make them .. but i think that youtube should do some type of age check on all the ppl that r on here to prevent something like this from happening
hello to any one that will take this with a grain of salt . I had spoke with my oldest daughters phsycologest breifly about this topic and about any one 25y/o or younger to the age of 19 that is in collage for sex ed (theripy) making a vid collection giving advice. They had made it quite clear that it would erisponceble to do so , based on mature levels.
imo you shouldn't stop making movies, but if you think they're not apropriate for you, maybe you can change them a bit, add some info about what's the right age to do it when you talk about let's say oral sex or something... but eventhough it may not help it's still something and if you think of it from the positive way, those yunger kids get some experience in sex before they become sexualy active... i think you're actually helping most of the people up here so don't stop making them please
part3-Don't stop the vlogs but maybe the children are the ones that don't really know what to say and you end up not reading them or think they are perverts. Try to get to their parents, it is not your job but I think you might run into appreciative parent every so often who would gladly thank you for the tip on their child.
Because I am so heavy in psychology, confidentiality is my number one guide (with the except of potential self or other harm). I would never disclose a child's comments to their parents unless their parents contacted me and asked directly (and I felt that they were truly interested in helping their child) OR unless I felt that their child was in serious danger and I had the contact info for their parents.
Part 2-It is something I, myself have pondered many times and wondered what are the next generation of children going to be like. Yes, I saw Jimi Hendrix in person. Now you know my age range and enjoy your vlogs from the standpoint of what you think as a young person. Don't stop the vlogs
Kicesie- As a parent of 1 son, programmer and 1 daughter, elementary math & science teacher.....I totally agree with the name of your latest video, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS?
:[ I think you are fab. Also, you're right. Your videos are protected by net neutrality and the first amendment; 'because they're available to younger children' is not a legitimate argument. On a moral level, your ideas are interesting and entertaining, but for the right audience. Parents should be aware of what their minors are accessing on the web. You have an guiltless series, and it's up to the parents- not you- to make sure that it's only being viewed by the intended age group.
easily pypassed just check the forums. the good thing is u make sex stuff sound normal , healthy , and responsible in some way and not a game so , ur videos have some good influence , a learning environment free of predators, since they will watch it one way or another , urs is good 4 them , the other way mostly wont be .. so thats settle it 19 M EGYPT
ok 2 things .. first of all , parents cant do shit.. if i wanna watch porno all i gotta do is wait for em to sleep , or out to work or sumthin and watch em , if they put some blocking programs ,
the parents are at work, a lot of parents probably both work full time, so their kid walks home from school and stays home alone until the parents come home from work. Thats why so many kids now are acting stupid doing drugs and stuff and the parents have no clue or don't care.
I appreciate your care for the age of your viewers, there should be found a solution:
I encountered that there is a age confirmation procedure, once ther is at least the possibility of to much naked skin on youtoube: Maybe you can flag yourself certain videos when posting them?
Kicesie, you are correct and I was incorrect. According to an FBI agent, whom I called, no one who is not a parent of the subject minor should not transmitted to any minor any information about sex. The sender is subject to prosecution if he/she knows or reasonably suspects that the recipient is a minor. This is a relatively new law. I apologize for stating an error to you.
ok well i tryed to post a video comment but it wouldnt connect to the server for video's.
im a parent of a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. i wont even watch your video's while the around and when my 4 yr old son is at the computer i have a family filter on the computer and im always in view of the pc.
Kicesie, please don't stop making your videos. You are providing a lot of good sex information to the public in a way that is open, honest, clear, and phrased in a mature, inoffensive way. You have done all you can; you have made it clear that these videos are meant for adults, and after that, the duty falls to parents, and your viewers, to make responsible decisions. I appreciate your point here, but you do so much more good than harm that it would be a shame for you to stop.
To compare what Kicesie does with NBC Dateline is ridiculous and slanderous. Her calm, straight forward, un-salacious, professional videos have nothing to do with the intentions of callers on
Dateline. If this causes her to stop, it would truly be a shame.
No, please don't think he meant that. He meant that some parents *could* twist what I do or be so upset that anyone is talking about sex to their kids, that they *could* come at my legally. I have talked to a lawyer friend about it and she agreed that without certification of any kind in sex ed, I could poetentially be held liable for talking to minors (through messages) about anything specifically sexual.
as for the parents .. believe me ... honestly .. there is no such thing as total control!! parents cannot control (totaly) their children!! not nowadays .. not ever!!... and to stop making these videos would be a shame .. :) instead.. what u can really do is not talk , or respond to those whom you consider to be too young.. yeah! simply ignore them ... eventually they will get bored .. i don't see what else you could do for the best :-<
im a volunteer iam a boy scouts leader i used to be an officer with the St. john ambulance cadets where i tought 52 children of ages of 06-21 as well as maney other volunteer kids org's so lets teach parents to keep there kids safe and make them see what is apropreate for there kids to watch on the internet.
hey:) i've discovered your videos by chance but i really like them! you are trying to do something nice here and i am sure that many ppl apreciate it. you asked for opinions .. so i'll try to make it clear what a mear 18 year old girl thinks about this .... you made a very good choice in one of your first videos by stating to whom it was adressed, it was wise and responsible... but could you have done more? NO!! you did what you should have done!
I'm sorry kicesie, but I couldn't disagree with you more. The law restricts the activities of people, not what is taught to minors through written or verbalized words. As long as the information does not include the intention to stimulate or titillate the minor, it is not illegal. This is what you do so well.
10 yr. old watches Kicesie's videos. 10 year old sends Kicesie questions. Kicesie answers questions. 10 year old's conservative parents walk past computer while 10 year old is out playing and sees messages between Kicesie and their child. Parent goes ballistic. Accuses Kicesie of (fill in the blank). Asks why this adult stranger is talking to their child about sex.
Parent contacts police, YouTube, lawyer. Dateline NBC shows up at Kicesie's doorstep. Call me paranoid, but I think Kicesie is being smart and responsible.
I am not and never have been interested in anyone less mature than I am. Having said that, I think the societal delaying of mature behavior and responsibility, as is increasing nowadays is bad for society and young individuals in our country. Anyone who is near puberty or asking questions, should be informed of everything on the subject. Knowledge which is not forced upon someone, never harmed anyone.
The law doesn't see it that way, which limits the spread of healthy sex info (and limits it to seedy, less than legal ways of receiving bits of truth and half truth). So, that said, I somewhat agree, but also fear that an unnaturally young interest in sexuality CAN often be the signs of trauma. But all of that could only be assessed by a parent, etc...
Where are the parents. As i was going to work on a friday in 1997 my olest daughter was raped by her sunday school teacher. Then in 2004 my youngest daughter was raped by a man that we did not know, while she was walking to jr.high school with here peers that she had went to school with . i did not want to bring this out but i feel that i needed to with the so called discution.
'so called discussion'? I feel your anger here, but I think that people on all sides of the issue have voiced their thoughts and I'm not monitoring comments for what I 'agree' with but for common decency. No, parents cannot protect their children 24/7, but I fear that's a long ways away from saying that parents cannot instill values, principles, etc.
then please tell me how is a parent to monitor what the kids are seeking out on the internet , on tv , with peers , on their way to school and on their way home , out playing with their freinds , when their parents are at work , even with teaching morals and values?
kicesie , i dont understand why you may think im arguing with you or trying argue , im not, just a dialog of the topic that is a concern to alot of individuals in this crazy world of ours and individuals that feel that they have the answer.
As a blogger myself elsewhere, I know what you're talking about with the fear of your words falling in the wrong hands. But this seems to be your craft and, as a new subscriber to your vlogs, I must say you are entertaining and I respect you. You have your forum of expression - let no one take it away from you.... not even yourself. That's advice I myself must take. You've helped me see something I and appreciate that. I'll be sure to mention you in my next blog.
Also, I don't think that anyone under the age of 11 could even psychologically comprehend most of the things you talk about, besides the basic sex ed... Hypothetically speaking, an eleven-year old boy looks up "Oral Sex" on Youtube. It's my guess that if he's on youtube, he's not looking forward to sitting through a ten minute video that just talks about it... he'd probably be searching for something more... explicit.
I'm fourteen, and started watching your videos when I was thirteen. I truely respect everything that you're doing, and I've learned so much from what you talk about. It's not so much that your advice will be useful to me now as it will be later.
And my parents (especially my dad) are actually quite pleased that I am watching you on youtube. They think its educational and good for me, and I agree.
The best you can do, other than to stop, is to put a large sign in the beginning of each video saying, "IF YOU ARE NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL, YOU MUST ASK YOUR PARENT'S PERMISSION TO VIEW THIS", or something like that. I would also suggest that a lessening of the attractiveness of your titles could retard the success of younger viewers' searches. Additionally, I would reassure you that I do not think you have said anything in past videos that would truly harm younger viewers.
You are so right...especially 13 and younger shouldn't be watching...especially since i know a sophomore at my high school that is at least 4 or 5 months pregnant
p.s Just a reply to your open marrage questions (randomness lol). I think the point and reason people do it is because the marrage is entirely honest and open. Theres no secrets, no feeling guilty say if you think some guy/gal is hot or w.e. Heck it could end up as a 3some :/. Just thought i'd add that in for some random reason, personally i don't think i'd go for that lol but i think thats why people do.
Section 5 : manoman Feel like im at school writing essays onoes!
Children especially tend to feel they are old enough to do anything and everything :D. I Know i did (not sex related, i mean generally. Like watching idk 12/15 films when i am 10 years old thinking they wont scare me thus i am old etc blahblah :p)
Section 4 : -.-. Youtube needs more space for comments lol!
Now i don't mean this message in a 'tell em, if they are under 16/18 age they are not to be watching/having sex' but i mean it in a kinda 'guide them' way. If they are doing this then something is kinda wrong, they haven't really been taught the boundaries kinda thing.
Offer perhaps a whole video on it to encourage these children to watch. If they are looking up to you its very likely to listen. Also how you put things across is a very nice way, kicesie way! lol.
Really, no kid should be watching these unless they are over 16ish i think, like y ou can't stop em obviously and its good to learn about this stuff and all but...lol. Don't give up! Its not your fault. Youtube should seriously consider installing better age restriction stuff. Then again if a kid is going to do something, they will do it, perhaps its better they are educated?
not just the parents, but also as you said, when something is forbidden, then it is more wanted, and the kid will search for it more. problem is over 18 thing on the site dosen't do much cuz anyone can click verify age.
First of all, I would agree with most of the messages thus far in saying that your videos are very entertaining, informative, and insightful. Someone like yourself who brings candid, original content to this website make YouTube a better place. I can tell this is a deep concern to you, and you are probably not alone in your opinion. Have you tried reaching out to your fellow like-minded posters to address these issues together? You might find that together you have more power than you imagined.
Donate to me a webcam, and that would one more person on your side. ;-)
I wouldn't focus exclusively on people who deal with the same content as you. I would find fellow users who see the potential for YouTube to address more serious and mature subjects to a wide audience, but also see the need for discretion when it comes to these issues. It's a fundamental flaw in the Internet that has long needed to be addressed, but censorship for the sake of protecting the children is no right answer.
i really don't agree with parents letting there children freely access the internet like you said they are at risk of preditors and parents have to realize that the internet is just as dangerious as leaving your kid in the middle of a city alone theres just so maney sick people pretending to be who there not. i challenge all viewers to spred the word for internet saftey with your kids and your friends kids, this issue really upsets me.
i would post a Video Response but my webcam got busted somehow and i cant get it to work. well what i think of this is that you cant really blame it on the pernants alone. Why? you ask. its because of also the people around us. they also influnece alot to do these days like friend will tell you to go to a chat room or a porn site cause they like it.
Hmm...I think I might make this into a video response
charwinger21 10 months ago
2/3The reason why I said I was over 18 had nothing to do with sex (initially at least, everything changes once puberty hits). It was purely because a lot of the best internet games required you to be over 18 to be able to use the entire game (the best games for kids in 2000, so neopets and stuff like that). The problem was that these games made it seem so casual to lie about your age. When you're asked at every turn of the corner and there is no punishment of any kind, it'll be natural to lie.
charwinger21 10 months ago
"It shouldn't be that easy". No it shouldn't, but how would you propose they go about changing it? Personally, I've been saying that I was over 18 on the internet since I was 6 or 7 (I've been using computers since windows 95 came out). There never has been, and it will be a long time before there is, any realistic way of telling the age of someone using the internet. It's a sad truth, but it is the truth. It is the responsibility of the parents to know what their kids are doing and protect them.
charwinger21 10 months ago
I think that it's should be all on the parents. Your video is up there to help and educate people. If 11 year olds are watching you have no control of that. The parents should be watching closer and blocking things on the Internet that the kids shouldn't see.
Point being if you stopped making videos a lot of people wouldn't have the education of these topics.

I'm only 15 , but i dont want to have sex yet.
Im not like those sluts and wannabe jb's like on my school i'll wait till the time is right.
Your like my sex ed teacher.
Thank you so much.
iDeKlein17 1 year ago
I'll be honest, I'm not "over eighteen" like you said. I'm 17 (which I don't think makes a difference)
& most of the things you talk about is good for me, the only videos I watch are the ones I need to watch. Like the ones about birth control and contraceptives. Because I got pregnant at 15 and still don't know a lot about birth control still. I don't watch any of the ones that are on a topic that isn't something I need.
826Iloveyou 1 year ago
i can understand how you would feel bad but i know a couple dozen 9-11 year old who watch a lot of porn so your videos aren't to bad compared to what the kids these days are into.
MrDiet46 1 year ago
Hey I'm 14 and I just wanted to let u know that by going to a public school, u hear FAR worse then what u talk about in these videos.... Yes I know that doesn't make it right but you have to realize younger people are getting exposed to more mature content at a faster rate then ever. All I'm saying is whether or not u had these vids up 10& 11 year olds would still b finding mature stuff. I don't think u should stop making vids because u have some really neat views & it would b a shame for u not
Jonahhh996 1 year ago
While I agree with you, Isn't there other options for making these videos less easily accessible?
I noticed today that some these videos aren't labled as having mature content or anything, perhaps you could look into having 18+ account restrictions for viewing the videos you don't want 18- to watch?
I know that this won't stop all of them, but at least young people watching the videos then have to blatantly lie about their age.
I could be wrong, I like what you are doing and I mean no offense
MasterAlayan 1 year ago
@MasterAlayan I cannot change that. I do all I can. Youtube does the rest.
kicesie 1 year ago
@kicesie Ahh ok, I've only ever uploaded videos of my rallying so I wasnt sure how it all worked. I think that youtube should make it possible to do thoughs like editing the audiences that can watch your video, at least then people have to lie to view it.

10 or 11?!?! That's horrible!! I didn't know anything at that age. Ur r so rite! WHERE R THE PARENTS?!?!

You are so right! It is the parents job to be in watch of their own kids I mean my little brother is on YouTube at the age of 4 but we always keep a good watch on him all the time just in case he sees something that might hurt him . So yeah you do have the right to be mad and that's all I have to say
MISSWINRYROCKBELL1 1 year ago
I some what agree with you, but over all it is the parents responsibility to not only establish good morals but to filter and secure any unknown communication to the outside world. If all adult material were difficult to get into, adults such as my self who may need some merital advice but have little time to search would probably just give up. However that is just my opinion and I love your videos keepem coming.
MrBillybrittain 1 year ago
I completely agree that the parents need to be watching their children when they are on the Internet. You have every right to be frustrated and kids should not be allowed to create YouTube accounts.
magicpenguinz 1 year ago
Your right to be mad, but at least they are learning about safe sex too. But yes 10 and 11 us a little young.
12345abcdefg1000 1 year ago
People, no matter the age, are probably not learning about sex for the first time when they hear your voice. If they are seeking out videos on sex, could it possibly get any better than seeing you talk, calmly and professionally - but still young enough to be relatable - about feeling good about yourself and making your partner feel good while still being safe? I'd rather have a curious teen stumble across your vids than any others on the internet.
Kirinin1 1 year ago
Your right, it is way too absolute to say what I said. I was just angery and what I should have said was that it's my opinion that to raise a child "properly" and "normaly" you need the attention of two parents. Congagulations, you made me regret my previous statement.
adpylons 1 year ago
Good points. Your so not alone in your anger.
SINGLE PARENTING DOESN'T WORK!!!
adpylons 1 year ago 2
@adpylons I know of many single parents that have done a better job than a married parent family. And your statement is way too absolute. Are you saying if the mom/dad died, the remaining parent better give the child up for adoption immediately cause one parent isn't good enough? Of course that's absurd. Thus, it's crazy to say 'SINGLE PARENTING DOESN'T WORK!'
In fact some of the most amazing parents I've seen are single parents that adopted because marriage wasn't in the cards for them.
kicesie 1 year ago 6
@adpylons I'm the daughter of a single mother and she has done a great job raising me. Single parenting is not an ideal situation, but it does work, and single parents can provide just as much love as two parents. It's harder and it's a lot more stressful, but there are definite rewards to being in a single parent household. By saying that single parenting doesn't work you are demonstrating a lack of knowledge, understanding, and tolerance.

Great job Kicesie! You are so right on all counts!
KyleenKeegansMom 1 year ago
You're not ageist for wanting parents to do their duty, kids should be supervised on the internet, its a serious issue, its opening a lot of doors to predators and it is unacceptable when it can all be prevented by a parent giving a damn.
Like i said in comment to the first part to this video, i agree with you.
Im sure youtube has similar problems, even if youtube cracked down, you'd still see kids on fake accounts or their parents accounts.
fiv753er 2 years ago
kicesie 2 years ago
Hey that's how it was when i was a teen and I'm 21 now, and I'm glad my parents actually cared enough to set those boundaries if they hadn't i might have gotten myself mixed up in something over my head as kids unsupervised tend to, you hear sad stories everyday terrible stories that could have been stopped if the parents had set their foot down somewhere, and while they play the blame game, in the meantime a life is changed for good or bad, usually bad, forever.
fiv753er 2 years ago
@kicesie I stumbled on one of your vids because it was considered by YouTube's stupidity to be a video related to "Equilibrium". I watched one of your other vids and I think your actually doing something good. Maturity is not an age. Maturity is caused by exposure to things that force us to mature. Handle the subject matter in a mature way and you will be ok in my book. By raising the issue it is clear to me that you are still maturing yourself.
brnclandonald 2 years ago
Parents have the capability to understand what their kids do on the computer. There are internet filters, key stroke programs and such. Parents need to be more involved with their kids and not be afraid to talk about some subjects. moving the computer to the livingroom or kitchen might be the answer. There's a great Christmas movie with Ben Afleck called Surviving Christmas. Their son was "studying" all the time. I wonder if he's still traumatized. Check out the movie, it's awesome.
ursusminor77 2 years ago
As an update... What I, in part, chose to do with this was to try and focus a lot more on basic sex ed issues. So if they DO end up watching ones I'd rather they not, hopefully they stumble across some others that teach them something useful.
kicesie 2 years ago
@kicesie hi i'm seven years old and... jk haha ;) i think seeing that there are millions who watch your videos shows widespread curiosity that is human nature.
to stop the channel would have been quite a loss, and i'm glad you didn't.
i believe that even if you feel responsible, you're not, anybody can find anything on the internet, it is ALL out there and ANYBODY can get to ANYTHING.
the only thing you can do is hope parents know better than to have their little kids unattended at their PC's...

I know it's easy to tell me it is,
JustCurious145 2 years ago
in part 1 you said briefly that this would be appropriate for high schoolers, i would agree , high school is time that its good to understand these things and learn about it so your prepared

Please, keep up the vids and remember that theres only a small minority that are being "irresponsible"

hey i belive the parents should be held responsable for things like this. a parent that cant monetar what there child dose... "in my openion"... is a parent not worthy of a child. i'm sorry i feel that way but the parents should realy have more concern for what their children do, and i agree that it is frustrateing that the kids are watching this, however you cant blame them it is the parents that do not censor the kids.
jtlance1988 4 years ago 210
I think the whole paradigm "everythign we tell children about sex, they will do it immediately" - is ridiculously old fashioned, in my opinion. It only makes sure kids will get wrong information the wrong way. It only makes sure if they do something too early (and no, they can't be watched 100% of the time) they will be punished with disease, premature pregnancy and psychological damage.
just my 2 pence.
nadav13algazy 4 years ago 101
I totally understand the legal concern, and having to deal with histerical parents.
but I have to say - I don't think children will run straight to do [blank] just because kicesie talked about it. I don't think you should feel guilty if someone to young listens to you.
nadav13algazy 4 years ago 60
I have been doing some research for a lesson on Internet Filtering for parents. Here are some interesting stats from 2003 - 90% of 8-16 yo's have viewed porn. Average age of of first internet exposure to porn is 11! Largest consumer of internet porn 12-17 yo's. I agree Kicesie, Where are the parents?
queueit2006 4 years ago 56
Frightening. Interesting following up research would be to study what effect that has on the child's eventual views on sex and women.
kicesie 4 years ago
I'm thinking that would be very interesting graduate work for a computer scientist and a psychologist who are both pursuing phd's.
queueit2006 4 years ago 11

If you stop making videos, then parents can get away with not taking responsibility for their duties.
queueit2006 4 years ago 3
your moral compass is right. They have turned over part of their parenting to the general public with no filter.
roadtripin2008 4 years ago
i think that was more of a half comment. so yeah, anything that ever had the word sex or anything that was questionable was blocked on my computer bacause of my parental block (until i moved out and got my own computer) it is absolutly outrageous that CHILDREN (because that is what they are) are viewing things that are not appropriate. it makes me angry just thinking about it.
chaoticwonder 4 years ago 2
i totally agree! i have always had a parental block on my computer (till i moved out, lol) and it is not cool that kids these days are accessing more and more things that they shouldn't know about. kudos to you. your videos are actually pretty interesting and i hope that you don't stop making them.

Continued...I know I got into some crazy stuff when I was younger and had innappriate conversations at that young age and consequently, i believe, I had sex at a young age, I was 14. So parents please please keep an eye on your kids.
j2008d 4 years ago
SO as you can read from my comment on your first installment I totally agree with youtube needing to be more responsible. I also think that Parents should, if your kid is 11, 12, 13 years old monitor what they are doing. If you can't be in the room, check the history when they get off something.
j2008d 4 years ago
and let me tell you something else.I just saw some stuff on another channel that was of a woman taking her clothes off,and erotically touching herself...yadayadayada.*That* is completely different than what you do here. There is a *huge* difference. That is what we need to worry about when it comes to our kids viewing something inappropriate.
davee1likes 4 years ago
Its tough, having a great exchange of information, and having kids able to see it,which is inappropriate for them.I know that this is frustrating for you,but kids are gonna listen anyway they can because of their curiousity about sexual matters.Yes, parents should know what their child is watching. This isnt porn.Maybe at the beguinning of each video say something like if you aint 18 get out of my forum. But,it is better for them to hear about this here, than on the street. Please dont stop.
davee1likes 4 years ago 2
It might be your fault. You're pretty face and warm voice keep them around. I say you should countinue to do it in an appropriate manner. What you say is harmless for kids. Parents are too bussy earning for their lives and education. They don't have time to live as parents.

GeneNowok 4 years ago
While it's good to be aware of audience you cannot change because of the danger of younger viewers. Should pornographers change their content because of underage people watching? You raise good points about parental and Youtube responsibility, but children will get access to anything if they want to. I think though that they could be doing far worse than watching your educational videos. The fact that they watch your videos rather than being able to find worse stuff suggests something.

I remember that when my son was learning about human sexuality at church and at home (we always answered any question in as age appropriate way possible), his best friend was not allowed to participate at church. Later we found that we were answering his questions via my son.

i think if u want to keep making these videos, theres unfortunately litle you can do keep young people off. i DO NOT think you should stop though. it is youtube's responsibility and they need to come up with better ways to keep younger people out of mature content.
bltopher 4 years ago
Even though I completly understand your distaste in young adolescents seeing the topics you cover. At least it promotes safety and positive messages, something the porn sites do not. Take this opportunity to do something the parents are not, promote sexual responsibility and awarness. Teach these kids how it is better to wait, and the negative effects that having sex too young can bring.
chkngrl 4 years ago
Ending your videos is not the answer. These unsupervised children will see explicit sexual material at every corner. Your videos however are not seeking to display derogative images, they seek to inform and enlighten the viewing audience.
chkngrl 4 years ago
Kicesie, the only solution I may have for you regarding this latest video is to simply change subject matter. Answer questions or talk about other things other than sex education. It either that or the alternative which you clearly dont want to do either. I hope you will see this & it helps. Chris.

salsasalena 4 years ago
(4)If we were to assume Kicesie is responsible for them seeing these, then the only reasonable course of action would be discontinuation and removal of the series. A world of mature viewers loses a valuable resource, just so some slacker parents can avoid their responsibility more. Not a reasonable solution in my mind.

Absolutely not. People were so irresponsible with it and they grew this self-entitlement to MY body. I learned a good lesson though and was joyous when I removed it.
kicesie 4 years ago
you know kicesie i know what you mean and i agree with everything you say and as you sayed it the vid des. it is an awesome to make a lesser materilized sex ed. Also i agree that youtube should have some sort of security system or something to keep underaged people to view videos not suitable for their age. Maybe like SS#'s or something?
melove7up 4 years ago
(3)To the big question... Who's responsible for kids watching the advanced sex ed series? Sorry, but I'm laying this 100% on the parents. The internet in general makes it insanely easier to find far worse things than these videos, parents have a duty to know what their children see.
thoruzyne 4 years ago
I will agree with an earlier poster that education is needed, but totally agreeing with Kicesie, that doesn't mean they need the full range of mature knowledge as young as possible. I'm an idealist, just to put that in right away, and I believe in the idea of innocence. We are allowed our innocence once, you lose it and it's gone forever. The freedom to see the world with a child's eyes is important to me, and it saddens me how young that freedom is being stolen.
thoruzyne 4 years ago
(1)The downward spiral. Something bad happens, and we use that occurance as an excuse to be less vigilant about similar occurances in the future. Perfect example, "kids are having sex younger and younger these days" is an excuse parents use to shake off some of their responsibility. It only serves to continue the trend.
thoruzyne 4 years ago
the one thing that is stopping me from trying is knowing that some of thenm have gone all the way and most of them have at least gave blow jobs and fingured and I am totaly not ready. I think I respect myself to much but what more should I do? and what do u think about my situation?
salsasalena 4 years ago
You clearly realize that you're not ready. So don't do anything you're not ready to do. No matter what that means to your social life, or anything. At the end of the day, you have to live with you. You have to be proud of the choices. Messing around with a guy isn't ever going to make you feel better about yourself.

The trouble is with the parents--they don't keep a close eye on what their children are doing, they're not involved in their children's lives, they don't talk frankly with their children about sex, and they don't maintain a relationship in which the child feels he/she can trust the parent with whatever might be on their mind.
TheMathGuy 4 years ago
When it al comes down to it, what I RESENT is that because parents are NOT giving their kids info (I believe parents should answer any and ALL questions. I believe they should offer the info before questions are asked!) then their kids come to me and could, potentially, leave me liable!

Part 1
You look really frustrated...And its only natural that you are.But you have to consider that the same information you are giving or generaly information on the same topic exist all around the network.
GeorgHatz 4 years ago
I think it's a better policy to lay all the cards on the table and make sure they know that sex carries with it some very major risks and hence is something for adults only, but I don't think that means they need to be shielded from mere _information_ regarding the subject (which is quite different than violent hardcore pornography, which they most definitely SHOULD be protected from). I think attempting to do so only makes the situation worse. That's my two cents.
TheMathGuy 4 years ago
...but if it's any consolation to you if I had found such a video at that age I probably would have watched it out of sheer intellectual curiosity, quickly got bored with it, and then moved on. No harm done. It wasn't like I would have ever considered actually having sex at that age. The bigger concern is if children feel unable to talk to their parents openly about this subject.
TheMathGuy 4 years ago
The bigger concern, in my humble opinion, is why children that age would continue to be fascinated with videos of a sexual nature rather than quickly getting bored with them. Is there anything inherently more harmful about knowing how adult humans reproduce than knowing how say, the circulatory system functions? It doesn't mean the child is ready to be a surgeon, of course! I know you might be "weirded out" by the fact that children so young would be watching some of your technique videos, ...
TheMathGuy 4 years ago
If I think back to when I was that age I expect I might have had a passing interest in your videos about technique (probably because of the whole "taboo" surrounding it), but it would have quickly gotten boring. There do exist societies in the world where it's common for children to walk in on their parents having sex, and the parents think nothing of it. Sex is not made into a hidden taboo like it is in the United States, and as a result people are not as fascinated with it.
TheMathGuy 4 years ago
Part 2.
its like monkey see monkey do but they don't get that if you think about it realistically sex and sexual activity is what all mammals and most plants do to conceive and populate so its not something a 10 or 11 year old should want to be doing. Starting a family. They are not even legally old enough to get married. But I am not criticizing or being judgmental. Just my opinion. I hope you do keep making your series you have a lot to offer.

I appreciate your point here, but you do so much more good than harm that it would be a shame for you to stop.
malreth2007 4 years ago
To compare what Kicesie does with NBC Dateline is ridiculous and slanderous. Her calm, straight forward, un-salacious, professional videos have nothing to do with the intentions of callers on
Dateline. If this causes her to stop, it would truly be a shame.
pilot96731 4 years ago
No, please don't think he meant that. He meant that some parents *could* twist what I do or be so upset that anyone is talking about sex to their kids, that they *could* come at my legally. I have talked to a lawyer friend about it and she agreed that without certification of any kind in sex ed, I could poetentially be held liable for talking to minors (through messages) about anything specifically sexual.

NO!! you did what you should have done!
vampishor 4 years ago
I'm sorry kicesie, but I couldn't disagree with you more. The law restricts the activities of people, not what is taught to minors through written or verbalized words. As long as the information does not include the intention to stimulate or titillate the minor, it is not illegal. This is what you do so well.
pilot96731 4 years ago
10 yr. old watches Kicesie's videos. 10 year old sends Kicesie questions. Kicesie answers questions. 10 year old's conservative parents walk past computer while 10 year old is out playing and sees messages between Kicesie and their child. Parent goes ballistic. Accuses Kicesie of (fill in the blank). Asks why this adult stranger is talking to their child about sex.
anonxyzus 4 years ago
Parent contacts police, YouTube, lawyer. Dateline NBC shows up at Kicesie's doorstep. Call me paranoid, but I think Kicesie is being smart and responsible.
anonxyzus 4 years ago
I am not and never have been interested in anyone less mature than I am. Having said that, I think the societal delaying of mature behavior and responsibility, as is increasing nowadays is bad for society and young individuals in our country. Anyone who is near puberty or asking questions, should be informed of everything on the subject. Knowledge which is not forced upon someone, never harmed anyone.
pilot96731 4 years ago
The law doesn't see it that way, which limits the spread of healthy sex info (and limits it to seedy, less than legal ways of receiving bits of truth and half truth). So, that said, I somewhat agree, but also fear that an unnaturally young interest in sexuality CAN often be the signs of trauma. But all of that could only be assessed by a parent, etc...
kicesie 4 years ago
Where are the parents. As i was going to work on a friday in 1997 my olest daughter was raped by her sunday school teacher. Then in 2004 my youngest daughter was raped by a man that we did not know, while she was walking to jr.high school with here peers that she had went to school with . i did not want to bring this out but i feel that i needed to with the so called discution.
watchdog3 4 years ago
'so called discussion'? I feel your anger here, but I think that people on all sides of the issue have voiced their thoughts and I'm not monitoring comments for what I 'agree' with but for common decency. No, parents cannot protect their children 24/7, but I fear that's a long ways away from saying that parents cannot instill values, principles, etc.
kicesie 4 years ago
then please tell me how is a parent to monitor what the kids are seeking out on the internet , on tv , with peers , on their way to school and on their way home , out playing with their freinds , when their parents are at work , even with teaching morals and values?
