Thanks for posting this... I was on base from late 2003 - early 2006. The contractors who refurbished the palace (Al hamra) were out of Kuwait and did work for our company. We used to meet in the palace before it was finished and became the command center... I have pictures of the side blown out and the bunker buster that his Saddam's room.

all of it is not what you think the 'marble' is pressed gypsum, the 'crystal' chandelier are clear plastic. Looks good but totally cheap. I was there in 09

I worked there in 05. During my deployment there. I can't tell you what cell I worked in because of security reasons... but I had access to information .
The Palace was beautiful . And at night it was illuminated. Very beautiful.
My husband will be at this palace soon. I read that Saddam spent no more than 7 or 8 days in this one. It was just another palace that he didn't even need.

yeah dear.. some of houses and palaces were never used or visited by him. he built them for personal security reason.
