  • I've been hooping for a month.. atleast 30 minutes every day.. the hoop aways drops after about 5 spins, always.. I've tried alot of different techniques.. My hoop just loves gravity.

  • back and forth as well as side to side does not work for me. seems to be no matter what i do the hoop wont stay up. help?

  • I'm absolutely not an expert, but the best technique for me seems to be keeping your back very straight and rocking your hips back and forth hard, keeping your upper body still. I look like I'm having a fit, but the hoop stays up.

  • I wasn't doing anything and she kept saying "nice"

  • "Nice."

  • nice

  • I was twirling it around 2 times and I just found out I wasn't doing anything o.o This video is useless >.<

  • Yeah... doesnt work for me! Neither does from side to side, nor circular movement. In fact, this one time, I thaught I did it, turns out i was bending down along with the hoop!

  • tiene poquita cintura

  • i can hula hoop now!!! Well i mean keep it up :D YAY!!

  • omg i dont get it do you just move your legs or do you move your stomach too

  • She's like doing a dance or something haha. Does this help you lose weight and tone your WHOLE body? I'm trying to get rid of my muffin top and my jiggly arms and thighs. I hope this works in the long run because i really think its more fun than running on a treadmill haha. I actually enjoy this and i do it while watching tv.

  • Nice.

  • i could hula hoop when i first found out they existed lol !!!!

  • These Vids are AWSOME, and helped me get where I am now!! xo

  • @TheOverMovie there can be many reasons: Hoop too small, hips going in a circle (should be going back and forth) and a TON of practice.

  • @NailsToDieFor Thank you :3

  • @NailsToDieFor Now I can do it x) the hoop xas too small

  • @NailsToDieFor That's funny, because I feel I get it better when I move my hips in a small circular motion. If I only move back and forth or from side to side, then I start feeling the hoop getting lower and lower =(

  • Next up on expertvillage: How to breathe in and exhale oxygen.

  • oh god, my back

  • thank you verry much this video helped me !!!! I Love You

  • if you hula hoop everyday ,, you have a flat abs ??? please anser me !!!

  • @mariushkitty hula hooping everyday will for sure work your abs and shape your body. but you cant eat a cheeseburger and expect to have flat abs. if you keep your food intake healthy AND hula hoop everyday and keep at it... well you should notice a difference in no time. also, if you throw in a little jump rope at least a few times a week along with the hooping, that will speed up your progress a lot. :)

  • @totallyxjordannn

    Thank's for the reaply !!!

  • i need to learn how to stop it from dropping. It looks so easy in the video

  • I liked this because I could actually SEE you pushing back and forth. The profile view helped so much.

  • uuuuh it can't stay up

  • @Cooligan78

its very difficult..can somebody help me? my hula hoop always falling down

  • where can i buy a nice hoop. thanks!

  • @joqueeny fortunately I found places on the internet for hoops. After that i found someone local who makes custom hoops from semi-rigid pvc.

  • Aw man :( My hoop is too small, it comes up to the tops of my thighs and I'm not aloud to buy a bigger one. Also, I can't find any bigger ones in England :( Are there any tips on using a small hoop?

  • @costadancer make your own hoop with pvc pipe and a wooden dowel (works like a connector) from your local hardware store :)

  • @costadancer make your own hoop with pvc pipe and a wooden dowel (works like a connector) from your local hardware store :)

  • @costadancer If it isn't taped, buy some gaffer or hockey tape to help hold it up. also, you'll just have to go a bit faster with your moves. the bigger hoops are good for beginners because they are slower.

  • @costadancer

    try the hoop dance co

    thehoopdanceco.co.uk

  • @costadancer try turning in the direction you are hooping in. It will slow the movements down. Hope this helps.

  • I`m getting tremendous exersize from bending down to pick up my hoop every 3 seconds!!!!!:(

  • ITS NOT OKAY IF IT DROPS, THATS WHY WERE WATCHING THIS VIDEO!

  • @kittykat806 I think she's saying that you're going to screw up at first so it's okay if/when you do. It takes practice to get better at anything.

  • lol weird

  • can hula hooping help you lose weight?

  • lol "nice"

  • She says she's pushing back to front but you can see her hips going from side to side when you view from the front!

I'd like to see tips for using a hoop that is too small, as most hoops are unless you want to spend a load of money on them.

  • @MrSonicAdvance I think she's going back to front AND side to side. You might have to do all of that in order to keep the hula hoop up and moving.

  • @QueenAnime99 The answer to my problem was "Don't use a hoop that's too small, fool!" So I made a large hoop by joining two hoops together. And it works magnificently! :-)

  • @QueenAnime99 Agreed!! Only back and forth never works for me, neither going from side to side. I feel that I have to use a combination of both, which turns out to be a small circular motion XD

  • @Sylphadora Me too. :D Good day.

  • the size isnt as important as the weight, a heavier hoop is much easier to use than a too light one, most hula hoops are too light, I had a small light hula hoop and it was impossible to keep up, now I have a bigger one (the size she uses in the video) which weights about 1kg, and it is just perfect for me.

  • OMG NICE ASS!!!

  • am trying.. am trying... its fallin off... aaarrrhhgg...

  • @swatigemini keep trying, you can do it!!!

  • "Nice."

    haha.

  • Why does she say "nice" so much??? It's a bit maddening!

  • If the hoop is to small, can't you do it or doesn't matter?

  • I still can't do it!! :( :(

  • my hoop is maybe a tad bit small so i tried to move faster as what people suggested, and i've been trying to keep it spinning on the waist for hours but still failed...! *frustrated*

  • Well... This didn't help me at all...

  • watch?v=gxtORVGYtJ0

    WATCH THIS

  • she loves to say the word NICE. :)) LOL

  • ok what the crap i did everything u said and it didnt work HELP!!!!!

  • OMG Aw Shoot! I'm doing it! I can hoop, even turning around ! I just use one that's a little heavier & and use your WAIST to keep it going too, not just your hips. Good Luck!

  • My hoop may be too small... but then my sister's bf had a go & it worked perfectly, so I don't know what's going on! It moves more when I don't do anything!

  • I like the way she says "nice" a few times! It's hot.

Jeez, I wish I could do this. I keep trying, but it's not working for me either.

  • en español!!! traduscanlo al español please!

  • this is good.

but she says nice a lot

  • She never points out *why* the hoop might keep falling down - like if it's too small. No amount of 'nice' will keep the hoop on your waist if it's too small for you.

  • Yes the larger the hoop the slower your movements can be. Also try turning in the same direction as your hoop. That helped me when I first started.

  • ThAT'S so dumb, Nice!, i was not even hooping,

  • Make sure you are using the correct size. Hold the hoop up against you with one end resting on the floor and the other end up against your stomach. If the end near your stomach falls somewhere between your bellybutton and your bust line or lower chest, the hoop is a good size for you. If it falls bellow your belly button the hoop is too small.

  • well mine is below my hips. so i guess thats why it doesn't work?

  • @Voshana My hula hoop is a little bit small for me, it means i have to move faster to keep it up?

  • @Julyenka Yes, the smaller the hoop the faster you will need to move it to keep it going.

  • @Voshana My hula hoop is too small, it falls bellow my belly button, I bought it few months ago, but I have not learn yet how to keep the hoop up, may it be because it is too small? Thanks.

  • @Voshana Does the size really matter? I'm 5'2 and I use a child size hula hoop, and I honestly can *not* do this, is the size of my hop why?

  • @Yukisohma243 I'm also using a child size hula hoop, And I can't freaking do it either. Maybe we should try larger ones..

  • @Yukisohma243 The larger the hoop the easier it is to Hulla Hoop.

  • @Voshana In measuring the correct size hoop, isn't stomach perimeter more the issue than height?

  • It can be yes. I am a large woman. I was wearing a size 20 at the time, I'm 5'5" and I had to start with a hoop that came up to the middle of my chest. I'm not sure of the exact size of it because I made it myself and I no longer have that hoop. With lots of practice since then I am now using a 38-39" inch hoop when I perform.

  • @Voshana I wish I had read this comment before buying my hoop that is way too small..

  • I don't get it! I never learned this as a kid and still can't. The hoop keeps falling down no matter what! So frustrating!

  • my mom had to look this up...she still can't hula hoop lol!

  • Hula Hooping is incredibly easy

  • nice

  • It really is harder than it looks! I used to do it all the time when I was little. Now I can barely keep it up a couple of seconds. I am trying the one foot in front but it's not working for me...hmmm.

  • @DJAngiePangie Me too, it's really annoying me, have you got the hang of it yet?? x

  • @Xxkim15xX nope, longest i did was like 5 seconds. Then I was so impressed with myself I dropped it. I think it's just one of those things you have to persevere at... annoyingly. I am determined to get it though! x

  • @DJAngiePangie I feel the same way. I am starting to wonder if my hoop is too small and too light. My hoop reaches my hips.

  • You are fantastic! Thank you so much for posting all of these videos!

  • fuck its hard

  • i try to keep it up, but its impossible for me, it falls after like 2 seconds no matter how hard i try!

  • Try planting your feet like you are gonna take a step adn then just move your hips back and forth not your whole body that helped me I am just learning!

  • i tried to keep the hoop rolling across my hips only, but it's hard

  • nice!

  • hi thanks for helping us learning hola hoop! we read that its easier with an heavier hola hoop, so we filled water in it, but it ran out. so we put sand in it, but it was too heavy. at least we tried it with rice and it worked very well! now we are pros;)yeahhhh...

  • Thank you so much, this video totally ended my frustration! I couldn't keep the hoop up and now, thanks to the oh-so-simple tip of placing one leg in front of the other, I got it!! Great videos ;)

  • how can i make my plastic hula hoop heavier? (i know im cheap)

i heard the heavier the hoop is, the easier it is to use.

  • well the key is not really weight it's circumference... the hoop when sitting on the ground should stand between the navel and nipples... you can make your own with irrigation tubing pretty cheap. google it. you can put water in them which i think is the most effect way to make them heavier.

  • big=heavy=beginner

    Small=light=advance

    :)

  • @ dyanjennica09:

I opened the tape that keeps the ends of the hoop together, put some rice in and took some duct tape to 'close' the hoop again.

Maybe that could work for you, too.

  • Put sand in it and tape the opening up like mad lol

  • So I was trying to hula hoop and I could figure out why i sucked so hard. So I looked up these videos and within 10 min I figured why it just wasnt working I WAS GOING THE WRONG WAY! So I tried the opposite way I was going before and I GOT IT! These videos helped soo much.

  • i'm still an epic fail at it. haha i think my hoop is too thin and light

  • Does it make a difference if there are beans in the hoop? I'm finding it very difficult to hoop for more than 10 seconds or so because as soon as I get into a rhythm the beans swish around and mess me up. Anyone else have this problem?

  • If you have a hoop with beans in it, then it may be one of the more inexpensive lighter weight ones. (I'm simply guessing though) I've noticed that the heavier and larger the hoop the easier it is to keep up. Try making one of your own. There are tons of great tutorials online and they are super cheap to do!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Great video. It took me 25 minutes of frustration, but now I can keep up the hoop (albeit awkwardly) for about 15 seconds. The keys for me were switching which foot was in front and learning to relax a little and make my movements more fluid. Ya gotta force yourself to slow down a bit and be zen about it.

  • thx...i couldnt keep the hoop up, cos I got a really small hoop without knowing size matter, so I watched this, I hoop to the left, but I kept putting my right foot forward. I couldn't keep it up that way so I put my left foot forward and I was actually hooping...THX!!! :)

  • Thank-you- was able to hula hoop within half an hour of watching! Can now cross off 'learn to hula hoop' on my summer list of things to do :D

  • Nice.

  • I tend to hula hoop on my knees. Not on my knees but the Hula hoop spins around on my knees.

  • she looks like taylor swift

  • Thanks to this video i learned to hula hoop! Thanks :) :) :)

  • she makes it look ez :( lol

  • I just bougt one, guess mine is guite samll...but I've been looking everywhere and it was really hard to find. I'm not very god but I've been practicing for like two days now and it's getting better....but now when I kan keep it for a while before it goes down my knees I kinda gett like carsick :S

  • well...mine comes up to between my belly button and bust...should it be bigger than that? .I just bought one that looks more like yours...because mine is probably and inch and half thick and it has these waves in it...

  • beginners should use a hoop that is about 40 inches in diameter give or take, measuring inside the hoop. SMALLER HOOPS ARE HARDER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

  • i couldn't keep mine up for a while, i can now but i think i have a dumb hoop it's kinda thick and has ripples on the inside...i don't think im getting any results with it...i feel llike i have to move my hips too much to keep it up....i just bought a new one hopefully when it arrives this one will be better.

  • rachel, try a bigger hoop. the smaller the hoop, the harder it is.

  • it stays on my hips for a while and drop, i have a basic hula.., should i get a beter one. or i just need to continue working

  • I can't do it!!! it drops and it just gives a roll on my waist because I push it in the beginnin' hahaha

  • Me too!

  • 'nice'.

  • ahahahahaha lmao "nice.....nice.....nice"

  • My only suggestion, please stop saying nice?

  • what if your hoop is smaller than that? what if you are in the ages between 10 and 14? and what if the hoop has a kink in it?

  • Get a smaller, new hoop.

  • Kids over 6 should be able to keep up a 40 inch hoop, but you can go down to 35 or so if it seems too big.

I have a friend whose 11 year old hoops with her hoop, and the mom is a very tall lady.

  • Good info for beginners.

  • nice

  • good 4 u!

  • looks easy than it is

  • i agree ive been trying ages bu6t i cant do it

  • @samparkour08 yea you have right
