During WWII gas was rationed and depending the needs you may have you were given ration cards by the goverment. The A card was the lowest minimum consumption card,and thus the worst one you could get. Nobody who didn't lived in the United States at that time is going to remotely get that joke.

Two scenes originally intended for this cartoon were axed by the censors, but even this final-released version had some images that aren't suitable for children. You need to understand that most cartoons of this era weren't intended for kids, they were very much an adult form of entertainment.

Another very violent looney tunes cartoon that is amusing as hell. Missing from final print is a piece at 7:54 where Bugs throws up all over the floor of the plane after being unable to hold it back by putting the fingers over his mouth. Also cut was a scene at 5:10 where the gremlin kicked Bugs in the nuts but they re-did it to make it look less obvious. The censors demanded these 2 scenes be dropped before release but still allowed all that other violence to go thru uncut. Incredible!

@GhettoKarter1992 I wish I had the original footage. They are long gone unfortunately. Back in the Hays office days, producers edited the objectionable parts by splicing the film and often discarding the prints. That's what happened on this cartoon and lots of others in the WB catalog. Even this finalized version, somewhat watered down from the original, was intended strictly for an adult audience when released in October of 1943.

@cyberyanmar I dunno', Bob Clampett had one of the most appealing looking Bugs Bunny designs out of the lot of artists. It is the most relatable out of the bunch. Plus, Bugs started out just as wacky as Daffy. Then Chuck Jones decided to give him the generic 'tude and make things a lot more predictable by never letting him get the short end of the stick, making him 'perfect'. Where is the fun in that?
